we had a lovely Jr suite lots of room and all redone very nice. I was just not impressed with the so called lobby. The old Villa Florence had such charm and warm. This leaves you cold and uninviting. Before the front desk was always available and very helpful. But it was just not the same and noticeable.

Great location at Union Square, noisy but that is to be expected. Staff were very friendly and nice breakfast in Struzzo, but room and common areas felt a little grubby and tired. One elevator not working, fitness room limited and stuffy. There are nicer alternatives nearby.

Beautiful decor and great staff, but our room was very small. I think it's too small for a king size bed.

Plenty of other hotels in this location

Posted 03-May-2018
I rarely rate things so I am kind of bummed doing this. I have stayed at the Villa Florence a while back and it was not so bad but this time was such an awful experience. The hotel rooms itself are tolerable though I was kind of horrified by the shower's water pressure and head. But what was the most offputting was my encounters with multiple staff members. They were very aggressive and rude. I had called days prior to my reservation for accommodations for my visiting family and it seemed that they were set in place. But when I arrived, nothing I asked for was accommodated. I knew this week was a pretty busy week for San Francisco (but that was why I called before my reservation). What was more upsetting was I wasn't necessarily upset that they had no way of accommodating our needs (overbooked, etc).. I was upsetting that they weren't even unapologetic about the miscommunication. Not good customer service for being a business that relies on customer service.

I hope this note finds well. We have sent your feedback to the personnel concerned. I apologize for this bad experience. This is very disappointing to hear, but we hope you give us another chance to make it up to you.

Did not hold the room that we reserved

Posted 01-May-2018
Pros: Updated rooms
Cons: Better staff. For $200 a night I certainly expected to be treated with a little more respect.
When we arrived at the Villa Florence there was only 2 rooms left. We were being booked into the room that we reserved and another guest showed up and, because the desk clerk that was helping her threw a fit, we lost our room and ended up with a room that had a broken phone, a broken mirrored tray with shards of glass everywhere, used cups and a door that wouldn't lock. When we called maintenance to help the man who showed up was rude and told us "It's an old building." The only saving grace in this hotel was one employee named Kasey. She was helpful and kind and got us moved to the right room for our second night. If you're thinking about staying at the Villa Florence the rooms are very nicely updated and modern, the beds are pretty hard but not too bad, it's a very short walk to Union Square and it was quiet considering it's location. However, unless you're lucky enough to get Kasey, the staff will be unhelpful, condescending and extremely rude.

This is an old hotel they are trying hard to upgrade. One elevator down the two days I was there. It took 40 minutes to get my car and I was the only person because they have to park far away. Beds were so so. The cooling heating is very old and I chose not to use it at then deal with the frustration. The people there are super nice and professional. You can only do so much when a place is that old.

Nice hotel close to shopping

Hotel was very convenient and in walking distance of shopping. Lots of eating places in close proximity . Very quiet hotel for a couple who want to relax.
