Nice room, no wifi, sewage smell, great breakfast

Posted 24-Oct-2016
Pros: - Good location (near trams, coffee and shops) - Great restaurant - Amazing eggs benedict, cappucino and happy hour deals - Great water pressure - Com
Cons: - SMELL - 2nd & 3rd floor smell like sewage. I spoke to others including a colleague (who was on the 6th floor and he agreed the smell was terrible in
Location: Take the "Hyde" tram to Fishermans wharf. Best coffee is at Blue Bottle Marriot Marquee has a 39th floor bar "the view" with great city views
Unfortunately this is one of those hotels that is completely hit or miss and I missed big. I could only recommend this hotel if you are guaranteed a room on floors 5,6,7 and you don't care about wifi signal. Pros: - Good location (near trams, coffee and shops) - Great restaurant - Amazing eggs benedict, cappucino and happy hour deals - Great water pressure - Comfortable bed Cons: - SMELL - 2nd & 3rd floor smell like sewage. I spoke to others including a colleague (who was on the 6th floor and he agreed the smell was terrible in the elevators and on floors 2 & 3). The hotel staff pretend it doesn't exist. - POOR WIFI - Wifi is terrible. From anywhere in the room you will drop connection every 30 seconds. For calls I could only do Skype/Facetime audio only and I had to stand at my hotel door the entire time - WRONG ROOM: I booked a junior suite which I did not get. I was told to check back the next day and after 4 days in a row of checking the staff did nothing to correct this.

Overpriced & Underwhelming

Posted 24-Oct-2016
Location: Good location in Liberty Square but very basic I would describe it as budget level hotel
From the moment of arrival after a full day travelling it was a very bad start to have the restaurant close it's door quite literally in your face because they were closing in 15 minutes surely the could have offered a sandwich even if served in out r room? instead we were directed to the local 24 hour Burger King later at night in a strange city. To add insult to injury despite texting earlier in the day to say they were looking forward to welcoming us they had no room ready and had to 'upgrade' us which is a very good job as the room they actually put us in was the absolute minimum standard I would have been prepared to stay in anyway god only knows what there other rooms were like. The front desk staff were clueless when it came to recommending eateries or indeed anything about the city of San Francisco. Despite a 'Do Not Disturb sign we were woken every morning before 9 by housekeeping and on the day of our departure were virtually escorted from the room 10 minutes before last checkout. On checkout they claimed we had opted to pay bill at the hotel instead of at point of booking which I found strange as it was the final leg of a 6 week trip that had been arranged by a Travel Agent and all other accommodation, excursions etc had been pre paid but I've not had chance to check yet.

Right in the heart of San Francisco

Posted 22-Oct-2016
Villa Florence is well placed in downtown San Francisco. With in the shopping district and trams to take one around the city. The atmosphere is welcoming with an open bar and restaurant as you enter into the main lobby. The rooms were smaller than expected as was the bath, if your one for a quite stay don't chose the ones facing into the Main Street outside.

Great location for first time travellers to San Fr

Posted 20-Oct-2016
Location: So close to everything we needed. Cable cars are right outside the front, Powell station is right around the corner. Sight seeing nearby.
Room was small but clean. Bathrooms are extremely tiny but sufficient. It looks like the room was renovated except it looks like they just painted over the old stuff. The tub is already rusting away again. The bed is terrible. Very wirey and hard. Great location to transportation, food, sight seeing, etc.

Great place in the middle of everything

We stayed here two nights and got a top floor courtyard room. Very quiet, clean and spacious. Perfect location to walk everywhere!

Good location

Posted 14-Oct-2016
This hotel is in a great location, right by union square... the facilities in the lobby are very nice, the restaurant is fabulous - Italian, the room décor is very nice, bathrooms was very well equipped. My only issue was with the noise of the window air conditioner. But, that can be overlooked as a minor issue for a light sleeper or it can just be turned off - solved.

Great location

Posted 12-Oct-2016
Location: Much shopping, cable car passes right in front of the hotel.
This hotel was in a great location, right on Powell, 1/2 block below Union Square. We felt safe walking the area in the day and at night. Very busy and exciting section of the city. The room was very nice. Although I would have liked to face the city, rather than other rooms, apparently my upgraded king room did not have that option, which was disappointing. But it was fine, the room was spacious and clean, large bathroom. The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside and we had a hard time even finding the entrance, but it was very nice inside. We didn't try the restaurant, but the café was excellent and we loved being able to dine outdoors. My only complaint really was that there was not much surface area to put things like our laptop, maps etc, the dresser was taken up by the tv and then there were only two small nightstands. Even the bathroom needed more counter area. There was a desk in the little area when you entered the room, but since it was divided from the rest of the room, we never used it, it didn't feel like part of the room. However having that space and high ceilings made the room feel more open and spacious. We did really enjoy our stay and would stay there again!

Nice room but no view

Posted 12-Oct-2016
Pros: Near everything
Cons: Very small room, very small bathroom
Location: You have plenty of shopping that you can do, many restaurants, public transportation Hop on hop off tour,
When I booked the hotel, I received an email confirming my reservation and I was asked if I wanted anything special. I asked to be on a higher floor with the view of the street. Upon arrival, they had no clue about my email. We were booked on a high floor ( 6th out of 7) but no view. We had a brick wall about 4 feet from the window. Could not even see if it was sunny or not. I know San Francisco is not cheap but for the price it's disappointing. On a good note, the room was clean. Bathroom very small but clean too. Hotel near restaurants, shops, public transportation. Very convenient if you do not rent a car.

Beautiful restored hotel right beside Union Square

Posted 10-Oct-2016
Pros: Great location. Very friendly staff .good value. Very nice lobby and beautiful architecture of the building
Cons: The air conditioning was very loud so it was difficult for sleeping.
Our room was on the top floor facing the courtyard. It was quite large for an older hotel. Lots of windows but you couldn't really open the shutters as the other rooms were too close. The bathroom was on the small side but well appointed and clean. The elevators were of original size but added a lot of character to the hotel.. Overall we had a great stay.
