Right in the heart of San Francisco

Posted 22-Oct-2016
Villa Florence is well placed in downtown San Francisco. With in the shopping district and trams to take one around the city. The atmosphere is welcoming with an open bar and restaurant as you enter into the main lobby. The rooms were smaller than expected as was the bath, if your one for a quite stay don't chose the ones facing into the Main Street outside.

Great location for first time travellers to San Fr

Posted 20-Oct-2016
Location: So close to everything we needed. Cable cars are right outside the front, Powell station is right around the corner. Sight seeing nearby.
Room was small but clean. Bathrooms are extremely tiny but sufficient. It looks like the room was renovated except it looks like they just painted over the old stuff. The tub is already rusting away again. The bed is terrible. Very wirey and hard. Great location to transportation, food, sight seeing, etc.

We stayed here two nights and got a top floor courtyard room. Very quiet, clean and spacious. Perfect location to walk everywhere!

Good location

Posted 14-Oct-2016
This hotel is in a great location, right by union square... the facilities in the lobby are very nice, the restaurant is fabulous - Italian, the room décor is very nice, bathrooms was very well equipped. My only issue was with the noise of the window air conditioner. But, that can be overlooked as a minor issue for a light sleeper or it can just be turned off - solved.

Great location

Posted 12-Oct-2016
Location: Much shopping, cable car passes right in front of the hotel.
This hotel was in a great location, right on Powell, 1/2 block below Union Square. We felt safe walking the area in the day and at night. Very busy and exciting section of the city. The room was very nice. Although I would have liked to face the city, rather than other rooms, apparently my upgraded king room did not have that option, which was disappointing. But it was fine, the room was spacious and clean, large bathroom. The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside and we had a hard time even finding the entrance, but it was very nice inside. We didn't try the restaurant, but the café was excellent and we loved being able to dine outdoors. My only complaint really was that there was not much surface area to put things like our laptop, maps etc, the dresser was taken up by the tv and then there were only two small nightstands. Even the bathroom needed more counter area. There was a desk in the little area when you entered the room, but since it was divided from the rest of the room, we never used it, it didn't feel like part of the room. However having that space and high ceilings made the room feel more open and spacious. We did really enjoy our stay and would stay there again!

Nice room but no view

Posted 12-Oct-2016
Pros: Near everything
Cons: Very small room, very small bathroom
Location: You have plenty of shopping that you can do, many restaurants, public transportation Hop on hop off tour,
When I booked the hotel, I received an email confirming my reservation and I was asked if I wanted anything special. I asked to be on a higher floor with the view of the street. Upon arrival, they had no clue about my email. We were booked on a high floor ( 6th out of 7) but no view. We had a brick wall about 4 feet from the window. Could not even see if it was sunny or not. I know San Francisco is not cheap but for the price it's disappointing. On a good note, the room was clean. Bathroom very small but clean too. Hotel near restaurants, shops, public transportation. Very convenient if you do not rent a car.

Beautiful restored hotel right beside Union Square

Posted 10-Oct-2016
Pros: Great location. Very friendly staff .good value. Very nice lobby and beautiful architecture of the building
Cons: The air conditioning was very loud so it was difficult for sleeping.
Our room was on the top floor facing the courtyard. It was quite large for an older hotel. Lots of windows but you couldn't really open the shutters as the other rooms were too close. The bathroom was on the small side but well appointed and clean. The elevators were of original size but added a lot of character to the hotel.. Overall we had a great stay.

A weekend at the San Francisco Opera

Posted 07-Oct-2016
Location: High end shopping is within easy walking distance, two or three blocks. If one wants to ride the trolley, it runs right in front of the hotel.
Overall, my stay was fine. I would suggest that the hotel make the AC remote more user friendly. I followed the printed instructions and was not able to get a satisfactory temperature. Both the sink and bathtub drains did not drain properly. They were fixed, however, once I brought the situation to the attention of the front desk. The fact that the hotel is located one block away from Union Square made for easy walking. The adjacent restaurant is a plus because of its proximity. I did find that the personnel at its bar area friendlier than in the restaurant proper.
