Used to be nicer - undergoing renovations

Posted 16-Nov-2017
Pros: Convenient and close to transportation, shopping and restaurants.
Had a fairly good experience here and this was my second time here but probably won't stay again. During my previous stay it felt much more luxurious - it is now making a transition to an "Ultra-Modern" style and I do not think it is working. I think the hotel is more in need of actual upgrades (mattresses, linens, elevators, restaurant) than a face-lift. Roll away beds and pull out sofas are INCREDIBLY uncomfortable - they should invest in some mattress pads. During our stay there was a really foul smell in one of the hallways which may have been from some of the renovations It is super convenient if you are a tourist which makes up for some of the negatives and most of the staff are really quite friendly and accommodating.

Third World in SF

There must have been a complete change of ownership and management at this Hotel. At one time this was a respectable upper end hotel - it has now regressed into what could only be a shadow of its former self. We arrived for a 3 day weekend with great hopes of having a lovely weekend - we were greatly disappointed. During the entire stay only one elevator worked requiring 10-15 minute waits - so annoying that we walked up and down to the 5th floor. There has ben a genuine disregard for the condition of the hotel - scoff marks on the walls in the rooms and hall, old carpet, etc.. This compounded by a general disregard for the clientele - i rung front desk non-stop for 1/2 hour to get a ball man to no avail finally walking down to lobby to procure a cart myself. The valet parking was another disaster - after handing the man my ticket it took over 45 minutes to get men car which was literally parked across the street. This hotel should be marketed as a no frills budget hotel with the price accordingly reflecting the same.

Not bad, not great.

Posted 26-Oct-2017
My overall experience was nothing special. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either. I felt some days the staff was good and other days they were not. If you’re working in customer service, you should make an effort to acknowledge and greet your guests. When I checked out, no one asked how my stay was, etc. I got the vibe the staff just goes through the motions and could learn how to be warm and engaging. Customer service and personalized service goes a long way. A lot of the time no one even said hi. I found this very odd. I also needed to get in touch with the hotel before I arrived and the front desk does not pick up the phone. I tried calling numerous amount of times. I even tried another day just to see if perhaps they were just busy that day and no one answered again. Very inconvenient. My room key also stopped working twice in my week stay there. That was an inconvenience as I was staying on the 7th floor (highest floor) and I would have to come back down on more than one occasion to have it fixed. The room itself was fine. Nothing to write home about. The pillows are not comfortable and the air in the room is loud, but besides that it’s decent. The best thing about this hotel is it’s location.

The hotel felt, looked like it was not been cleaned recently. Hall and bedroom rugs had not been well vacuumed. A security upgrade to the wifi system required outside tech support and the situation was not resolved until the 2nd day of my stay. One of the elevators was down, which meant very long waits so I opted for stair, which was fine for me but not great for less fit folks. Decor felt like some but not enough money had been invested in interior design. Result was sort of jarring and charmless. Good Union Square location but so many similarly-price alternatives in that neighborhood that there is no reason to stay at Villa.

Great location for easily getting anywhere in the city. BART runs almost directly to hotel. Trolley and all transportation within walking distance. Uber fate reasonable from Golden Gate to the Wharf. The hotel site offers a helpful online planning guide. The rooms are on the small side, but consistent with most hotels in the Union Square Area. Greatvfor those who spend most of the trip out and about the city. Staff was courteous and very helpful. Request a front room for an open view of the Square, or an interior for a more quiet night. Enjoyed our stay.

It was just ok. Location was perfect.

Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Complete everything. No restaurant etc,
Location: good
Maybe just maybe a return. I'm not sure I want to add anything. The best part was being in San Francisco.

Construction.. No breakfast..no restaurant inside

Posted 22-Oct-2017
I would have like to be advised when there is construction going on and would have been advised before I booked this hotel that there was going to be a hotel charge of Admin fees totally $116.28 on top of Expedia booking charges...
