Very old motel, the socket near the bed does not work, the key to enter the room stops working by itself, the elevator can get stuck, the transport is noisy around the clock, cleaning is only upon request! in general, you can stay for 2-3 days if there is no other option! upon check-in, I had to pay another $100, as I understood for booking through the Expedia app, and another $100 deposit!

First off the staff was rude. No greeting or farewell. Night stand by the bed was sticky, there was hair on one of the beds. There was no light bulbs on 2 of the wall lights. Another head ache was getting the tv to work. You have to do multiple steps just to turn the tv on. We just left the tv on all day and night because it was such a hassle. I do have to admit the bed was comfortable though. In all you get what you pay for. It was a cheap price but so was the quality of the room. I won’t stay here again.

The WiFi was weak and unstable. Only the bedside lamp works in the rooms so at night the rooms are very dim- I changed rooms so I'm sure it's not just an issue with my initial room.

First positive; free parking for one vehicle, considering how expensive parking is that alone is great. Second, they had a family room which is big and roomy. Has 2 tvs, fridge and microwave. Bad is doors dont have extra locks like the chain or bolt, and the furniture is very worn and mattress is non existent. Like sleeping on coils. But was quiet overall and affordable

Being on Lombard Street provides easy access to the waterfront. The location also has many dining options. The front desk staff were very courteous and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. Enough soap and towels were provided. I think the room service was lacking with making the bed. I also thought the room did not have enough lights. I’m a student and it is difficult for me to do work in a dark environment. Overall I still had a positive experience and would recommend the motel to anyone visiting the area.

The location was the positive point, but the facility itself is old & tired. Rooms were small and very basic & for the price not really value for money at all. Staff made you feel not welcoming and just going through motions. Bed comfortable another positive. Towels small, shower flow pretty average.

The manager changes every couple hours and they pretend to be absolutely exhausted every time you ask for something simple. I received 3 cards for my room that were not functional and the manager couldn’t use them, but would come back with the next and refused to speak to me. The TV didn’t work and the remote burned my leg, because they tape the batteries in; furthermore, at multiple times during the night I heard people banging on the door saying, “I know you’re in there…” with various swear words. Over and over I tried to call the front desk for help, they did not answer. I can say that the manager microwaved a cup noodles that I bought from a gas station on my way into town. But, he did not speak English. In the morning someone offered to sell me—I quote—“anything I needed for my stay.” He was not a tenant and threw up as I walked away. Genuinely the worst place I have ever staid in my entire life and it was absurd the lack of care they had. Promptly at 11am they unlocked my dead-bolted door and yelled at me to get out… yelled. Do not ever bring a family member or loved one here. Pay the extra few bills for a hotel room a mere block away.

I’ve stayed before and came back for another week. Management and staff are all be nice, friendly and accommodating. Located in a great area Safe! And it’s also a quiet neighborhood. Close to everything. Just a small bus ride , Lyft or walk for Sure! Next time I go back I will be staying at the Surf ! John

This motel is in a great area. There are lots of great restaurants within walking distance. It’s really safe. Great location for the price. The only things I didn’t like was there was no soap and shampoo. So you might want to bring your own. And the ac/heater needs to be updated. Other than that everything else was great.

Rude, rude & imcompetent personnel & very shady behavior especially when it comes to money… I had already paid upfront & in advance for a full week online via Expedia… at the front desk a very rude lady ssid she was not gonna give me my room nor my bags & things I had left them in a secured storage room unless I gave her another $200 cash right there & then… I asked her to let me speak to her manager, she said the hotel has no manager… I called 911… after 5 minutes she called them on me… officers never showed up… I immediately called Expedia, got a full refund, and booked at Motel 6 right across the street which is much nicer & better… I’ll never ever book at Surf Motel ever again, they need TO FIRE THAT LADY IMMEDIATELY

Bed sheets were dirty and not changed from the previous stay. The restroom floors were dirty as well. Everything in that room was dirty and damaged. The only convenient thing was the parking.

Totally terrible for overall services and facilities. Specifically, 1. Bathroom- Water closet is unstable + Shower fittings are broken and leaking + Temporarily installed shelves for towels and amenities 2. Bedroom- bedsheets and coverings/pillows are too old and not clean. 3. No counter top on lavatory. etc...

Very satisfied!
This is our 3rd time staying at the Surf Motel over the last few years. The price is always amazing, so for what you pay, it's a great place. Sure, it's old, it's run down, but they do a great job of cleaning it up, the location is awesome, the rooms are clean, the showers are hot and the water pressure is good, the beds are comfortable, the ac/heaters work well, it's always relatively quiet, and plenty of parking, we've never had a problem finding a spot, the staff are relatively friendly and accommodating... our needs are very simple, and the Surf Motel satisfies our humble needs quite well. We will continue to come back.
