We had booked a city view through Expedia but had to change the room when we got there. They knew we had the city view but they gave us a classic room which was less expensive. When I ask the hotel if I could get credit for this, they said yes but called Expedia which I did. Expedia said the hotel wouldn't give us the credit. The manager said we booked through Expedia and they could not help us. It was a blame game between Expedia and the hotel, we had no problem with our rental car we booked through Expedia, we got credit back. I think this poor communication and should be something they should fix. I'm sure this happens all the time guest needing to change rooms.Sure the hotel said they could give us credit for eating in the hotel but we were there to visit San Francisco this wasn't a business trip.
