I have lived in San Francisco for the past 30 years, and I know the city changes from block to block. The music city hotel is the perfect alternative to stay in the city on and off without paying lots of money. The area is very nice, many good restaurants and pubs. Night life as well, dispensaries and more. Overall, I love this place.

I chose to give this hotel a good rating because it delivered exactly what was advertised at a decent rate in a location that we convenient to what I wanted to do in SF. That said, there are a few things I wish I had taken into account before choosing it that have to do with me more than the property itself. For starters, this is probably not the top pick for someone with mobility issues or who has trouble with stairs. If there is an elevator in the building it was evidently not operating during my stay, and accessing the front desk and guest rooms involved several flights of pretty steep stairs with baggage -- so just be prepared. Second, the hotel staff is very nice and helpful, but there is no one on-site overnight. For me this became an issue when an alarm went off in the hallway outside my room about 5 a.m. When I called the after-hours number, they advised me to ignore it and so the alarm kept going til the morning crew arrived. Finally, future guests should note there is not really a common area, so people staying in the shared hostel rooms tend to use the hallways for personal phone calls etc. and the noise does carry. These are not criticisms, just a heads-up for people who may be a tad more comfortable in a more traditional American-style hotel set-up. This is not that, but it is an interesting, quirky and comfortable place at a good price near interesting attractions, music venues, etc. and not too far from Union Square.

I'm embarrassed to just now be riding a review for this fantastic place. I've stayed here a great number of times. The front desk office staff are so friendly and yet professional. I'm from hospitality and retail experience, so I know very well customer service. This staff have a natural ability for this customer service. I've seen several times in person them handling numerous situations at one time. They give the term multitasking a new definition. The housekeeping staff are not only friendly and you're always smiling, but are so thorough and maintaining impeccable cleanliness. They're fresh fruit coffee and tea are always a comfort treat. That huge photos of the Bay area music legends are so cool. I grew up with most of these bands, and always enjoy your trip down memory lane when viewing these. I'm so excited for the new addition downstairs to open. I can't say enough about these friendly professional cool hip folks. Oh one more thing. The music that plays over the speakers is so cool. I have Shazam so much of this music over time that I have a fat library of new material to listen to. Whenever The pointer sisters OR Sylvester plays, watch out baby cuz I'm going to be dancing.

It really was about music! Every where you looked in that place was about music artist and records. One amazing thing i love is the V.I.P keys you get! So many discounts and access you can have throughout the city.

The Music City Hotel was amazing. We had such a good time. We got to stay in the Metallica room, awesome! We even had a guitar and amp to play! Comfortable and clean rooms, rock and roll everywhere. Great showers, and clean bathrooms. Centrally located in the city, so we were able to use the public transportation, like the cable cars! Parking lot next door, I was able to leave my car. So many restaurants and shopping All around, fun in every direction. One day is certainly not enough time to enjoy all that is available and close by. We will return!

The photos make the rooms look bigger than they actually are. This is also a community hotel (sharing a bathroom with the whole floor). The building is small, so the stairs leading to the floors are tight and narrow. I didn’t feel safe at this place at all, so I left after 5 minutes. I didn’t even stay the night.

We are indeed a hostel where the vast majority of rooms do share the multiple bathrooms throughout our hallways, but granted there are private rooms that we have that has their own bathrooms and certain dorm rooms as well :) I do wish we could have had the chance to make your experience here worth your while as we normally have music throughout the hallways during the day to make the place more lively as well as our lovely staff. Disgusting hotel. Reeked of dope. Stain on the carpet. No AC. Window does not stay open. Nor does it open all the way. If you look out your window you are looking directly into the room across from you. Shared bathroom-this was an oversight i overlooked. The plugin fan had dudt nunnies on it. Black sheets had white stains on it. Very uncomfortable. I slept fully in my clothes. I couldnt get my mobey back. Never ever stay at this hotel. You couldnt pay me to stay here again. Oh and its in a sketchy area. No ventilation in the hotel as marijuana was throughout the hotel. And didnt see an ice machine.

Staff was helpful. Overall Great vibe, Good music, Clean Room/ and Bathroom. I only stayed one night and booked late, probably why I was put on the second floor right next to the management office. I would had prefered a higher floor facing the street. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

Loved the funky vibe, colored lighting out front and music playing. Professionally run with a laid back vibe. Everyone was helpful and responsive. No A/C was a surprise but it turned out we didn't need it. Hotel was quieter than many in which I have stayed even with an open window for a light breeze. We slept well every night. There were so many cool restaurants and shops nearby. House of Prime Rib was a stand out. Easy walk to a major pick up point for tours.

I liked the music theme and the tour. I was very dissatisfied with how the room was presented online and it liked in real life. I think there should be better descriptions more true to what is being offered.

Pretty cool considering the availability of music studios yet definitely way too pricey. Even the hostel portion is off the chart price wise. Centrally located , Whole Foods markets, cafe’s and many restaurants around. They implemented breakfast at cool cafe next door but for an additional price! Oh well, overall worthy.
