Für Stadtbesichtigung günstig gelegen

Posted 25-Sep-2016
Pros: Die verkehrsgünstige Lage. Man konnte alle öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel, incl. Kabel-Car, innerhalb von 5 Min. erreichen.
Location: Stadtmitte - für alle Unternehmungen günstig gelegen
2 gleiche Zimmer gebucht - Unterschiedliche bekommen! Das gebuchte und ein viel kleineres Zimmer. Sehr laut, da keine Schallisolierung Fenster. Keine Klimaanlage, Heizung lief und konnte nicht abgestellt werden.

Great hotel within a stone's throw of Union Square

Posted 18-Sep-2016
Pros: The sherry! And the pianist has to be heard!
Cons: Doubles as an entrance for the theatre. The lift can be in use for folks other than hotel guests.
Location: Easy walk to the cable car but usually huge queues. Consider going to bottom of California St instead. Take the F car from Powell to Pier 39.
We booked a deluxe room with a king bed and were not disappointed with the room size or its facilities. The bed was enormously wide. Room furniture was good and in keeping with the period feel of the hotel. I suppose that the biggest drawback is the lack of breakfast and although the hotel has a connecting restaurant we were never asked to dine there. Instead, we took all of our meal's at outside establishments - there's a great Lori's diner just around the corner. Back at the hotel, late afternoon tea and sherry in the Lobby was most welcome. And early morning coffee was available on two of the higher floors. In room coffee-making facilities were replenished every day. Our bathroom had a large walk-in shower and we were provided with lots of toiletries. All in all, it was a great place for two 60 year olds to stay, close to all of the action, transport links and the Cheesecake Factory in Macy's.

Great location. Dated hotel. Limited service bins not emptied beds roughly made. Check in staff friendly. Concierge provided wrong local information. Recommended shuttle did not turn up. Rescheduled 45 minutes later lucky to catch plane. Tea and sherry in lobby was nice.

Well situated hotel

Posted 08-Sep-2016
Pros: Location was good
Cons: More facilities like a restaurant, bar and a larger lounge would be nice
Location: Very well located in the centre of San Francisco, right next to Union Square
We spent 4 nights staying here while visiting San Francisco. Great location for being able to get to the main attractions in the city. There was no air con, but when we visited in the middle of summer this wasn't necessary. We came by car. The hotel does valet parking, but there are plenty of other more cost effective options nearby, but I'd recommend you book these in advance.

"Personality" is a euphemism

Pros: Location.
Cons: Renovate the entire hotel from top to bottom.
Location: Only a block from Union Square.
So...this hotel looks great online. Don't fall for it. It has not been renovated in at least 25 years. And -- there is no AC! You need to rely on opening your window (and it's the middle of the city, so it gets noisy), and a ceiling fan. Yes, I know many in San Francisco don't have AC, but for the same price, you can stay one block up the street at the JW Marriott, which is exactly what I did after the first night. Furniture is old and worn out, and the bathroom is very poorly designed.
