Enjoyed my stay and the location. Close to shopping and transportation systems. Some furniture needs to be replaced; chips and worn marks on tables and headboard

The hotel staff was very nice, professional, and helpful. My (sober) visit at the attached bar to order one Bulleit Rye was unpleasant.

Vintage hotel, central location

Posted 09-Nov-2017
Pros: Peaceful and quiet at night. Fresh coffee and biscuits on the landing every morning.
Cons: A breakfast perhaps?
Location: Within walking distance of everything in central San Francisco, accessible public transport nearby; the cable car is practically outside the door.
We had a pleasant stay in the Kensington Park. The hotel is surprisingly quiet for a city centre location. Our room was comfortable and the hotel has lots of character.

Needs Improvement

Posted 07-Nov-2017
One elevator was out of order the entire time which made getting to the room slow...and with small children that isn't ideal. Also one night the water coming out of the tap was grey. We were only in the hotel for 2 nights.

We are sorry about the inconvenience of the elevator. With the age of this building, we have two of the largest elevators for our age and size building. Unfortunately we had to get a special part made to get this fixed. Thank you for your feedback.

A Kensington Gardem Experience

Posted 05-Nov-2017
Overall, a superb choice, albeit with minor disappointments. First, the location just off Union Square couldn’t be better; right in the heart of downtown and near so many transport hubs, with great little cafes, restaurants and convenience stores right at your doorstep. Second, the early 20tj century charm of the hotel, it’s cleanlines and the dedication and friendliness of its staff make the hotel memorable and worthy of a return visit (oh, I wish). But, the hotel fails itself at the last hurdle with minor irritations and inadequacies, like inadequate tea and coffee making facilities in rooms, inadequate furnishings (bedside table on only one side of our double bed), charging for water in rooms (oh, come on, KG!), tepid hot water, very poor TV service (get your pay movie arrangements sorted out, KG!) and no in-hotel food services. But, as I said, overall superb and I won’t hesitate to go back to our great friends at Kensington Gardens in the bosom of San Fran.

Our home away from Home in San Francisco.

Posted 03-Nov-2017
Our second stay at Kensington Park Hotel was as enjoyable as the first. The staff are professional and friendly. Thankyou Vincent, Joshua and Giovanni. The foyer took my breath away. Beautifully furnished with comfortable sofas and chandeliers hanging from beams that could have walked out of a Jacobean mansion. Not grand...more shabby chic. The simple elegance of sherry and music late afternoon. I loved sitting on the velvet chaise in the lift up to the top levels. The beds are soft and comfortable, linen luxurious and the cleanliness of a well stocked bathroom superb. The pretty ceiling fan provided gentle air movement when needed. We hate air conditioning. The smell of good coffee wafted up the stairs each morning with the biscotti jar a favourite. Looking forward to going back for our third stay next week. We are so happy that smaller hotels like this exist, providing a more personalised service.

Great location room and facilities needs updating

Posted 30-Oct-2017
Pros: The location and the staff
Cons: See above the room we stayed in needs a refit especially the bathroom.
Location: Great location off Union close to shops, restaurants and entertainment.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I understand the hotel was built in 1924 and so expected traditional fittings which in the lobby and public areas were perfectly acceptable and in synch with the period and ambience of the hotel. The room fittings were very tired and in desperate need of updating. The bathroom and shower in particular was very poor with old loose fitting controls and, poor sealant with the shower barely having any water pressure. For the price charged these are small things that are easily corrected and need to be one urgently, as the great location alone cannot be an excuse for neglect of features especially at the premium room rate charged.
