walking distance to union square!

Posted 08-Dec-2016
Pros: Nearness to union square.
Cons: Hotel room maintenance
Location: Shopping, eating, holiday activities
Our yearly trip to SF. We love the season; bustling with color and people. Our second stay at hotel. Hotel staff very helpful and accommodating ,but hotel owners need to maintain their rooms better and make sure staff who park vehicles don't smoke. My car reeked of cigarettes! I informed them of wobbling ceiling fan, hot room without heater on, but forgot to tell them of chipping paint of bathroom door and electrical hookups behind TV (3 prong plug into 2 plug) potential electrical fire hazard. Otherwise a very nice room and comfortable.

Very old world San Francisco

Posted 30-Nov-2016
Pros: I just wrote what I liked above. Please don't ask me to repeat the obvious. Location, clientele, customer service, quaintness, great restaurants etc!!
Loved how quaint this hotel was with the bench in the elevator and the eclectic customers. Plus it was in an incredible location to Union Square, stores, great restaurants and even has a theater in the hotel itself. The rooms are not that big but I loved the fan and the temperature was always perfect.

great quaint hotel

Posted 25-Nov-2016
Pros: quaint and comfortable
Cons: air con in the rooms
Location: right around corner from Union square and Cable cars at your door, Fabulous location
Very good location, a very quaint hotel, with lovely "olde worlde"decor and comfortable rooms, staff very helpful, room had heating, but no cooling, I put the window up 6 inches to allow cool air to flow. Love the sherry and tea provided from 4pm onwards daily

Very disappointing experience

Posted 05-Nov-2016
Pros: Location was very handy. Close to shops, bars, restaurants and public transport
Cons: Very disappointing experience. Very poor customer service. Receptionist attitude in general very poor. Safe broke down with our passports inside when we were about to leave to the airport and the hotel response was very slow. Parking very expensive. Facilities looked very old. Room was very noisy ( traffic and next door room). No hot water some days

Old fashioned and tired

Posted 29-Oct-2016
Location: The location is central and near good shopping but a bit seedy and not one of the nicer areas
No amenities e.g. Lounge, bar, dining room. The spa/gym in the basement is members only. There was no hot water on our first morning. Paper thin walls - you can hear your neighbour's conversation. Dreadful value for money and probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.
