Excellent location. Good value for the price.

Pros: Location and very friendly staff. Good internet.
Cons: Fix the ceiling fans so that they will work without having to leave a light on!
Location: Can walk to Embarcadero, Chinatown, and AT&T park. Trolley right outside to get you many other places. A LOT of excellent dining and bars close by.
Excellent location in Union Square close enough to walk to AT&T Park, which is what we were looking for. Lack of air conditioning was not a problem as it was cool enough to get by with windows open. What could have easily been a problem is that our room was among a handful of rooms in the hotel in which a room light must be left on in order for the ceiling fan to work! I don't understand why that can't be easily fixed, but it was cool enough outside for us to get by at night without a ceiling fan. We were located in the back of the hotel away from the street which was also a plus. Elevator was very slow, but we could take the stairs as we were on the 2nd floor. Contrary to some earlier reviews, we thought the breakfast was quite adequate. The hotel staff was among the friendliest I have ever met- very helpful!! Small, but very clean rooms! If you spend a lot of time in your hotel room while in S.F. (Why would you?), this hotel may not be for you, but it was perfect for us!

Hotel centrale di buon livello

Posted 19-Aug-2015

It was a bad experience. My room has not a view. The breakfast was poor. The elevator takes a long time. The only good thing was the location and the staff.

Good location. Near everything

Posted 27-Jul-2015
The hotel is very well located. There are restaurants, shops, public transportation and more, just in front of the hotel. My room was tiny, however it was not noisy at all (considering the location in a Main Street). The staff was amazing.

centrally located for a great SF visit

Posted 19-Jul-2015
Pros: location
I booked at Stratford mainly due to the reasonable price, but the location is great too. Now the room itself is not very spacious. However, that's typical for an old hotel in a downtown area of a major city. Besides, if you're truly enjoying your visit to SF, you won't be in your room much other than for sleeping. So when you walk out of the hotel, not even a block to the right is Union Square, where you can rent bikes at Park Wide, which I highly recommend. SF is a very bike friendly city and seeing the city via a bike is incredible. Of course, there are also the trolley cars, which run along Powell St, which is right outside the door of the hotel. Pier 39 with all of its attractions is only about two miles away. And one more kicker is that it doesn't matter if you fly into Oakland or SF, you can easily get to the hotel via the BART; simply take the train to Powell St and from there you only have to walk a few blocks. It's much cheaper than a cab and probably Uber for that matter too. Finally, if you get to the hotel before your room is ready or check out before you have to leave town, the staff will gladly and securely watch your belongings. Overall, I def recommend Hotel Stratford to include as part of your great SF experience.
