Location and old fashioned elegance
This hotel is located in the best location! Easy to walk to anywhere and everywhere, close to Powell St cable car line and shopping all around. I loved the old fashioned elegance of this hotel, but for those that prefer everything to be 'new' and 'perfect', this might not be for you. It is a historic building and with that comes some compromise, but I will certainly be staying here again. The customer service from all I encountered was just brilliant.
I stayed in an historic 2 bed room on the Geary St side of the property, so probably the noisiest part of the hotel. I LOVED it. From the fire escape outside my window to the noises of life below, I simply loved this property and time in San Francisco. I am a light sleeper an the ear plugs provided by the hotel were enough to give me 3 nights of sound sleep. However, I can understand if the noise from below may be too much for some. I would recommend asking for a room away from the Geary St noise if you feel this would be an issue for you.
The restaurant at the hotel, being the Daily Grill was absolutely excellent. Beautifully decorated and great food and wine options. Ate there 3 times in 3 days and not one time did it disappoint. I will definitely be back to stay again.
