Kids club was closed, ball pond was not working

Posted 23-Aug-2017
Ended up paying 987£ for 3 nights. Very unhelpful staff. Basic room for the money paid. Will not stay there again. Very disappointing

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing a review of Occidental Ibiza Hotel. It does indeed sound from what you describe that some aspects of your stay did not meet our usual standards of service; please accept our sincerest apologies for failing to make your stay with us a perfect moment of relaxation, we sincerely appreciate you taking the time to bring this matter to our attention. We are very sorry to read that your kids didn't take full advantage of the wide array of activities organized by our professional mini club staff and sincerely hope they will join the activities on a future occasion. The Mini club is only closed on Sundays but we have family activities so everybody can join in. The rest of the days we have activities for kids with our brand new programme " Happy MInds" which is based on Gardner´s multiple intelligences where they can learn and have fun and develop multiple skills. Balls pond is always operative but sometimes the kids remove some of the balls and we have to sanitise them very often. At Barceló Hotel Group we lay high value on our personnel being guest oriented and welcoming at all times, being fully aware that their interactions with our guests have an enourmous impact on the overall holiday expérience in our hotels, therefore we are sincerely sorry to read your comments on the service your received and commit to adjust any situation that leads us away from our goal being to make sure our guests feel welcome and attended to at all times. Thank you again for making us your choice hotel on this occasion, we look forward to serving you again in the near future. Kindly Regards Pedro Junquero Trabado

Very standard

This is absolutely no frills at all. Looks nicer in photos. Sunloungers not available for everyone. Despite being all inclusive, that's very selective and only really includes beer and wine. Location is a bit far away from things if you want to go out.

Hit and miss.

Food was excellent. Somewhat limited on the drink availability including soft drinks which was a shame. I asked for a cranberry juice and was bluntly told "no". Cleaners good but were frustrating at not leaving new shower gels when we run out. Entertainment was up and down, Chinese acrobatic show was great. Some times hard to know what was going on as there were no displays.

Great Hotel & Staff

Posted 30-May-2017 on Hotels
The Occidental is a great hotel that has been refurbished and looks great. The staff were friendly and helpful with all aspects of our stay, any issues raised were dealt with quickly and I can't recommend them highly enough. The food is decent and caters for all ages but the repetition over 2 weeks can make the dining experience seem a little bit boring so keep this in mind and maybe eat out a few nights. The rooms were clean and spacious enough for a family of 3 and the pools on site were great too. The kids pool at the back of the hotel with the play park adjacent to it is a real plus point for parents who want to be able to spend time in the pool with their little ones away from the adults pool. The facilities on site such as beach volleyball, tennis, football, games room etc mean that there is enough contained on site to keep everyone busy and happy at the same time. There isn't loads to do in the immediate area outside the hotel so having so many things to do at the hotel really goes in it's favour. There is a lovely beach / bay just 10 mins walk down the hill and a water park just beyond that too but any other entertainments would be best reached by taxi and I would suggest Cala De Bou or San Antonio itself. Alternatively hire a car and go for a drive as the hilly forests hide some lovely bays and beaches within 30 mins drive either way. The only real downside is the lack of parking at the hotel but overall it was a great stay and we would definitely go back :)
