I have stayed in this hotel 4 times. We think it is an excellent hotel with beautiful gardens. We have use a very comfortable family suite. Vey convenient. Hotel has two swiming pools
Breakfast included in rate is superb quality.
Very friendly staff
We stayed at Sol Sámara for a night becuase the hotel we usually stay at was full. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The beach is about a block away. The small fridge in the room was a little old: we needed to store a few things and we were not sure it was working well (didn't contact staff, though). Breakfast was nice. Overall, an ok stay for a couple nights.
This is a relatively small hotel away from the town of Samara. So it was in a quieter area. Just a few minutes walk from the beach along a dirt road.
If you book a hotel in town it would be rather noisy at night.
The included breakfast was adequate if not somewhat simple. Do not order the French Toast option. You are warned. We enjoyed the fruit plate that came before the rice and beans with the eggs at breakfast. Coffee does not flow to more than two cups if you are lucky.
The beds were comfy and clean and the room was quite spacious and so was the bathroom. Our room was on the second floor and it had a nice size balcony.
The hotel is nice, however it would have been nicer if they had the waterfall in the pool on all the time. It would have given it a much more pleasing atmosphere. I broke my toe on their heavy and somewhat crowed iron beach chairs so be careful walking around the pool area. The hotel would benefit from some investment in their gardens. Add more exotic plants around the pool which seems to be the hotel's focal point. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The best part of our vacation in Samara was when we rented a 4 wheeler, which was delivered to the hotel. We enjoyed that so much we rented them for a couple of days. Taxi cab was 6 dollars one way to the town of Samara.
Nice hotel totally aligned with the rusticity and unpretentious natural beauty of Samara. The Bougainville wall surrounding the natural stone cozy pool granted a picture album. Great Tipico breakfast and friendly staff. Clean. Would definitely recommend and stay there again.
I stayed during the low season so the price was nice and about half of the usual cost. The room was large and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. They offered a free breakfast. There was a nice pool on site and 24 hr security. It was centrally located, close to shops and the beach. The rooms were quite even when there was a loud party at the bar across the street.

We had an enormous apartment that very comfortably slept our large family of 6. We could hear the howler monkeys at night, and see the ocean and lovely view during the days. A group of horses live down the hill and we watched them from the balcony. It was nice to be able to cook for ourselves and have a refridgerator. We had a kitchen and plates and utensils and pots and pans. There was not a microwave in our room, but a full cooktop.
You will need to bring your own salt/pepper, soap and shampoo, coffee, etc.
This is a great value hotel! Manage your expectations accordingly. This is not a luxury hotel - but it has larger apartments than any 4 star hotel. The rooms could use updating - but they are perfect for a large family to come back sandy. The fans compliment the ocean breeze and we left doors open all night. There is no AC because the rooms have a fine cross-breeze to them.
The lemons that grew on the tree on our porch were nice in tea.
The pool is VERY deep in one end; watch your children and especially on the steep paths which have no railing. This is not a hotel for little children to run around unattended; there are many places where they could get hurt. There WILL be bugs in your room because you WILL leave the doors open for the breeze, by this I mean a few ants and flies but you are in Costa Rica and this is to be expected.
Some rooms are being updated.

With white sand beaches and a coral reef, Samara is both a resort town and farming and fishing community on the Pacific Ocean. Tourists come to the area for the wide range of outdoor recreation, restaurants and bars, but also stay to take in the local culture. Take time to sample the exotic fruits and organic produce and to watch the fishing boats return to shore at sunset.
