Absolute nightmare. Entry to room is via app/QR code, neither of which worked. No on site staff to assist. 10 calls to hotel, only to join queue each time and still couldn’t get in. By 7.00pm after about an hour of trying to get in, gave up and started looking for an alternative. 10 calls as line dropped many times. Hotel did not call back once. Another couple were having the same issue. AVOID

First when I entered the hotel the lift was not working and my room is on top floor that means I need to take my luggage walk up and down at least 4 times. Second when I entered the room the room was smelly. I wonder what do the housecleaning people at your hotel do exactly to prepare the room for the next guest? Next the bathroom have no hot water during my stay I was try to call the reception around 11 but no one answer it. I need to wait until the next day for shower Also the heater in my room doesn’t work that mean I need to sleep under 2 degrees

The worst nightmare of a hotel
This is the worst hotel I’ve ever had. No AC , elevator is not working. You have to open the window to get air. No fridge and you can hear police and ambulance siren the whole night. You should take this hotel off your list.

Old hotel that's not what is pictured on Hotels.com
Hotel is different from advertised picture (perhaps "sister" hotel?). Though Salzburg is small, hotel is fairly far from Old City, but close to train station. Wifi was mostly weak or non-existent. We were given a password at check-in, but wifi actually open and not secure. Elevator unavailable after 20:00. Room was on street and noisy. Lamp didn't work. No hooks or cabinet knobs. Huh? Front desk woman was nice. Otherwise, very little customer service attitude.

This hotel is closed for renovations
The Best Western Plus that we actually stayed at was nice. But no one told us the Salzburg Plaza was closed. We arrived to find a LOCKED door and a note saying our reservation had been moved. We should have been told and given the opportunity to decide what to do. It cost us extra cab fair, our location was further out of town than desired, and it was very upsetting for my aging Mom. We had tour plans that included pick up the next morning and we’re left scrambling to contact them before the end of the business day. Arriving at Best Western, they were not prepared for us, nothing was on file. We had to wait while they prepared a room. Again, this was hard on my 81 yo Mom who was exhausted by this time.

I’ll stay elsewhere when back in Salzburg
Pros: close to HBF and reasonable distance to the center, price is on the more affordable end. Cons: no curtains in the room. Several rooms are on a fairly busy/noisy street. Bed wasn’t the most comfortable. Combining all these things, you can probably guess that I had a very poor sleep. I also booked a “courtyard view” room but when I checked in they said they were all gone. For extra context, check in starts at 3pm and I checked in within an hour of this time.

A HOTEL ROOM WITH NO PRIVACY CURTAINS OR SHUTTERS
RUN!!!!! THERE WAS NO STAFF AND BUILDING NOT SECURE!!!! NO CURTAINS IN MANY ROOMS IN A CITY HOTEL!!!! LIKE STAYING IN FISH BOWL!!!!! INTERNET WORKING???? ARE YOU JOKING. ELEVATOR SHUT OFF WITH NOTE ONLY OPERATES DURING DAY FOR SAFETY REASONS???? I arrived late on 24.07.2021 and stayed one night. Had resevations for 3. Told there was no refund and they were reluctant to give me a confirmation of early checkout. Fighting them now to get my refund for 2 days I didnt stay in their ghetto fishbowl.
NO CURTAINS OR PRIVACY.
Note on elevator. Staff not present at hours stated and told elevator not working.

Should have read the reviews to avoided this hotel
It's a reasonably priced hotel within reasonable(ish) walking distance of the things we wanted to see/do in Salzburg. Our trip dates changed last minute, and I booked without reading the other reviews. My mistake. The hotel is on a very busy road and has no air conditioning (or even a fan for air circulation). So If you go in the summer, you'll spend all night debating whether to stay away from the stifling heat or the obscenely loud road noise, or a combination of the two. The desk hours are limited, so if you get in after 6 pm, you'll have to call an Austrian number to try to arrange someone to get you in. The biggest fiasco, however, was the parking. I made sure parking was available when I booked. When we arrived, we parked on the road next to the hotel to unload and asked where we should park. The women behind the desk asked where we were currently parked, and said that was fine. We asked if we needed a parking pass or to pay at the parking machine to avoid a ticket. The women said no, and did so with confidence. We even asked a second time just to be sure, and said we wanted to be sure we didn't get a ticket. They said it was no problem. Within an hour we had a 25 euro fine, and the only response we got from the hotel staff was that we were misinformed and that we should just call the city and tell them that and they would remove the parking fine. Wrong again. All in all, the staff are unpleasant, the stay is miserably uncomfortably, and it's just not worth it. AVOID.

Good size room but no TV for three days
Reception had revised opening times which I was unaware of and it meant my room key was in an envelope stuck to a window when I arrived. I was on the fourth floor and the lift only worked during reception opening times which was irritating and disappointing. My biggest disappointment was not having a working TV for my entire stay despite reporting it twice to staff, once on the phone and once in person at reception. I was not offered any refund for this - again not very good service in my opinion.

There was lumps of plaster in the corridor of the floor we stayed in - it was there at 3:15pm the day we checked in and still there the next morning. The staff were average, never going out of their way to be welcoming.

Not two single beds
I reserved a room for two with 1 queen bed/2 twin beds, expecting me and my friend would be able to sleep in two separate beds. It was weird and uncomfortable to find out upon our arrival that they only had rooms with 1 queen bed. I went down to the reception to ask if we could change to a room with two single beds, and the lady said there were none. Other than that, the stay was fine. Location was great.

Budget hotel.
The first impression of the hotel is one that you would say is a bad impression. The hotel is located on a busy main road and the reception door I opens onto the street. When entering the reception which is very small and not appealing, you are greeted by the receptionist who allocates the rooms. We were allocated a room on the 5th floor looking into what they class as a courtyard which was a lot quieter than the front of the hotel. The hotel does not have a lounge we’re you could sit and relax or a bar with a area to sit. During our stay breakfast was not available so we had to find alternatives close by. There is a Italian restaurant next to the hotel that offers good quality food at good prices and the hotel access the street(Motel One) is nice to sit and relax with a drink after a days walking.

Salzburg is a memorable city and the hotel was close enough to the train station to actually walk to and from it. The desk was efficient enough. However, the fact that the elevator does not work early in the morning was definitely a minus. We had to push and throw our suitcases four floors! There was no breakfast. However, the food store at the station was excellent and we could buy croissants. The price is excellent for Salzburg, but the lack of elevator service early in the AM (our train left very early) was truly bothersome.

It would have been nice to have a kettle with tea/coffee in the room, room was clean and tidy, TV didn’t work but a great place to crash at night after sight seeing not a long walk to the old town maybe 10 mins along the River. The hotel is off of a Main Street so it could be noisy at times.
