The villa is very close (only 1500 metres) to the beautiful white sand beaches and crystal-clear Ionian Sea (blue flag). The famous cliffs and caves are also near, just 9km away. Villa Morocco is conveniently situated for sightseeing as it is quite near (only 7 kilometres) to the highway, thus making the tourist towns easy to reach. The villa is shaded by tall pine trees and in its grounds there are also olive, citrus and fruit trees, flowers and rose bushes, and the aromatic plants of the Mediterranean bush. The villa is built around a large inner court with potted plants and it is divided into self-standing, completely independent properties. Each property has two doors, (one leading to the patio and one to the inner court), its own private outdoor areas (large shaded patio, roof terrace) in addition to the villa garden, and a covered parking space inside the gates. From the villa and the grounds you can enjoy delightful sea views. SEASIDE AND COUNTRYSIDE AND SIGHTSEEING: The location of the villa is quite special: it is a country house (a “masseria”) but at the same time it is really near the beach (only 1500 mt) and is also close to the highway (just 7 km) and to the coast road (900 metres). You can enjoy the peace and quiet of a country retreat as well as spectacular sea-views but you can also get to the beach in a matter of minutes and to the highway in less than a quarter of an hour. Thus the villa combines the charm of a “masseria” (ancient farm house), surrounded by a very large, mature garden, with the convenience of a seaside accommodation and with the advantage of being extremely well-located for sightseeing as the highway is so near. The extensive grounds of the villa include a pine wood and an olive grove, palms and oleanders, citrus and fruit trees, a little kitchen garden with season produce and a herb patch. Before their arrival, guests will receive a file with some information on restaurants, shops, beach lidos, places worth visiting etc. LONG, FINE SAND BEACHES & CLIFFS and CAVES: Salve’s coast is mainly composed of long fine sand beaches, all with Blue flag status. There are lidos where you can rent beach umbrellas, etc alternating with “free” beach. The beaches are very clean and the sea is warm and clear. It is safe for young children as the sea bottom slopes gently down. Going towards S. Maria di Leuca the shore becomes rocky. At the “Porticciolo” beauty spot (9 km from the villa) you can see the first caves, sunbathe on the cliff and dive into the sea. The boat tours from the crystalline Ionian sea to the sapphire blue Adriatic are a fantastic way of seeing the caves. From S. Maria di Leuca to Otranto, the wonderful coast road is right over the reefs, with spectacular inlets like “il Ciolo”, etc. The coast is enchanting also on the Ionian side, from Leuca to Gallipoli and Taranto. The magnificent nature and marine reserve of Porto Selvaggio (nature trails in the pine forest) and the splendid reefs of Torre Uluzzo are at 45 minutes’ drive from the villa. TOURIST TOWNS & SUMMER FESTIVALS: Salento is one of the most beautiful parts of Puglia. Within easy reach from the property you can find the splendours of Baroque art, Norman castles, Roman amphitheatres, frescoes and mosaic floors in churches. Don’t miss the wonderful Lecce, Gallipoli, Galatina, Otranto but also S. Maria di Leuca, Presicce, Alessano, Specchia, Maglie etc are certainly worth a visit. Last but not least, all the landscape is rich in artistic details: Saracen watch-towers, dry-stone walls, the embattled towers of the fortified farmhouses… Salento is also famous for its delicious food and wine and for its festivals, which take place almost every week in summer and which range from classical music to Lecce’s international rock festival, from the famous “Night of the Taranta” (the heady song and dance “pizzica”) to all the very enjoyable events celebrating typical food and drink (sagre). The villa itself is in perfect condition, very clean and everything you need is in place - comfortable beds, window shutters that allowed us to sleep longer in the morning, a fully equipped kitchen and a variety of cookware, cutlery, food storage, pots and pans /we were travelling with a toddler, so being able to prepare breakfast/lunch or dinner was important:) The patio is huge and there is a BBQ which we used almost daily. The yard is enormous but very safe - perfect for families with kids that are always ready to explore the surrounding area. The villa is located in a quiet area and it allows for complete relaxation - at night and in the mornings you only hear the chirping of the crickets. In fact the intensity of their chirping in the morning helped us to predict how hot it would be during the day:) The beach is 5 minutes drive, and we loved it - not too overcrowded and the water was perfectly clean and shallow, which is great for small kids. Torre Pali has a number of good places to eat and we tried quite a few of them - food was delicious. The owner Elisabetta was available and very helpful whenever we had any questions. We only stayed for a week but we will be returning for sure, hopefully for 2+ weeks next summer!! We can’t recommend the place highly enough! ##### Galina Y. Qui est en fait une petite maison individuelle intégrée à un grand et magnifique domaine. Appartement propre et fonctionnel avec une très belle terrasse dans un environnement calme et magnifique entouré d'arbres fruitiers. Parfaitement situé, très proche des plages, la location permet de visiter facilement les villes principales de la région du sud des Pouilles. Et que dire de la gentillesse des propriétaires qui font tout pour que les vacances se passent au mieux. Merci encore à Elisabetta et son mari pour l'accueil chaleureux. Gleich vorneweg: es war die beste Unterkunft die wir je hatten. Die Wohnung befindet sich in einem sehr grossen Grundstück, ist ruhig gelegen, bestens ausgestattet und von der Vermieterin Elisabetta sehr persönlich und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. In der Küche ist alles Notwendige vorhanden, alles funktioniert einwandfrei. Die Ferienwohnung ist sehr ruhig gelegen, nur die Vögel hört man. Wir haben viel Zeit auf der schönen Terrasse verbracht. Silvana hat uns beim Check-in gut unterstützt und war da, wenn wir Hilfe brauchten. ##### Therese S. Il silenzio, innanzitutto, la pace e la tranquillità dopo il mare: impagabile. In secondo luogo gli spazi esterni a disposizione esclusiva: il patio (abbiamo mangiato sempre all'aperto), il lettino, il terrazzo sul tetto per i magnifici tramonti. L'interno è curato e molto accogliente, con due camere, il bagno e la zona giorno. Accoglienza al top fin dai primi contatti con la gentilissima Elisabetta, disponibile per qualsiasi dubbio o domanda, e poi la disponibilità in loco della Sig,ra Silvana che ci ha accolto e spiegato tutto nei minimi dettagli. In 5 minuti di auto si arriva alla spiaggia di Torre Pali; noi abbiamo girato parecchio e questa è la classifica delle spiagge che abbiamo visto: Primo posto: Torre San Giovanni, 18 minuti a nord. La meraviglia. 5 stelle. (spiaggia fianco al lido Bora Bora). Tutta la riva è meravigliosa sino a Torre Mozza, ma di fronte a Bora Bora ci sono degli scogli e.. niente dovete andarci. Secondo posto: Pescoluse, 8 minuti a Sud, Spiaggia a fianco dello stabilimento le Maldive del salento. 4 stelle. Terzo posto: Spiaggia fianco stabilimento le Seychelles del Salento, e poi Torre Pali, Lido Marini.. insomma ce nìè davvero tanta. Mia personale opinione Torre San Giovanni batte Punta Prosciutto, che ritenevo imbattibile nel Salento ionico :). ##### Vittorio V. Si vede la mano di Elisabetta e suo marito. Si sta veramente bene nella quiete del posto. L' appartamento Bouganville è bello e pulito con un patio e una terrazza sopra di esso spettacolare. I consigli di Elisabetta (complimenti per la guida scritta che ci ha fornito) e del marito ci hanno permesso di visitare cittadine nei dintorni e ristoranti molto belli e buoni. Pulizia e servizi ottimi, così come la disponibilità e le informazioni date dai proprietari. La posizione é strategica per raggiungere le principali spiagge della zona. We stayed in the Buganville apartment of the Villa Morocco, the last week of September. It was perfect; clean, comfortable, well equipped, great beds! This traditional thick walled architecture villa, is situated back of the coastal road, just far enough for peace and tranquility but 5 minutes to beaches, towns and the road that takes you every where in the Salento region. We particularly loved the spacious covered porch in the morning and in the evenings, listening to cicadas and crickets. We had the best sleep in this very quiet place. What a gift for our souls! We loved Elisabettas very detailed information printout, which we called “the Bible”, and took her suggestion to eat at Trattoria Tatanka, along the road to Santa Maria di Leuca; we had Orecchiette allo Scoglio, marinated anchovies and scampi…yummy, not to be missed! It is also easy to reach Beautiful Gallipoli and the Adriatic coast from the villa. Silvana, the local manager, was very accommodating and helpful. Overall a great experience and a perfect relaxing place. Well worth our long trip from New York. My only regret, it was too short of a stay. We will be back! La villa est magnifique avec ses oliviers centenaires, ses figuiers et ses figues qui ont régalées nos petits déjeuners . Les photos représentent bien la réalité (nos avons séjourné du côté Bugavillee). Un grand merci à Elisabetta et son mari pour toutes les informations très détaillées et très précises données en amont et pendant notre séjour qui nous ont servies de guide touristique durant notre séjour. Nous sommes, grâce à tous ces précieux conseils, arrivés jusqu'à la villa Morocco sans se tromper et avons fait quelques escapades magnifiques : Gallipoli, Punta prosciutto, la route côtière de Santa Maria di Leuca à Otranto, l'inoubliable excursion en bateau pour visiter les grottes dans la falaise du Salento, Maglie, et la merveilleuse ville de Lecce. La plage en contre bas de la villa est superbe, accessible très facilement en voiture (5 minutes) et le parking est gratuit où il y a toujours de la place même en août : eau cristalline, sable blanc et mer chaude Encore un immense merci pour le sourire et la gentillesse de nos hôtes et toutes leurs attentions à notre égard. ##### SYLVIE P. Die Lage ist ruhig inmitten eines grossen mediterranen Gartens und von den anderen Wohnungen gut abgeschirmt. Mehrere schöne Strände sind in wenigen Autominuten erreichbar. Die Vermieterin war sehr freundlich und für etwaige Fragen oder Probleme immer erreichbar. Wir empfehlen einen guten Mückenschutz mitzunehmen. ##### Hubert N. Abbiamo passato due splendide settimane di vacanza estiva a Villa Morocco con i nostri due figli teenager. La casa, immersa in un incantevole parco, è molto accogliente, arredata con gran gusto, pulitissima e provvista di ogni comfort, compresi tutto il necessario per la cucina, un'ottima selezione di libri in varie lingue e la TV satellitare (ma non abbiamo mai sentito la necessità di accenderla). La veranda attrezzata è perfetta per colazioni e cene, per la lettura e per momenti di completo relax; piacevolissima la doccia tra gli ulivi. Dal terrazzino abbiamo ammirato splendidi tramonti, il cielo stellato ed il riflesso della luna nel mare. A pochissimi minuti di distanza ci sono spiagge di sabbia bianca e, appena un più in là, scogli per tuffarsi. Il posto è strategico per visitare tutto il Salento. I proprietari, gentilissimi ed estremamente discreti, ci hanno dato ottime indicazioni sulla zona. ...Ci torneremo! ##### lucia l. We enjoyed the quiet environment and great view from the terrace very much. The apartment has everything you need, especially the barbecue is great. The only thing that we disliked were the mosquitos in the evenings- but I guess thats the prize you have to pay when your are located on the countryside surrounded by nature and a beautiful Garden ;) Villa Morocco is very close to some amazing beaches (5 min by car) and a good location to explore some of the nice towns in Salento like Otranto and Gallipoli. You definetely need a car though. Elisabetta was a great host, provided a whole list of recommendations on things to do, restaurants etc. and perfectly arranged the check in and check out.
