Nice country side hotel with spa and golf course.

Posted 30-Dec-2016
Pros: The situation of the hotel is good - lovely surroundings and peaceful. The hotel is very modern and spacious.
Cons: Route to the assembly point in case of fire. It is unlit, very uneven surface and overgrown in places. Difficult for people with mobility/ health prob
Location: As we only had an overnight stay I can't really comment on this.
Stayed for an overnight family break just after Christmas. Large hotel with excellent facilities. Staff were very professional - smartly dressed, polite, friendly yet unobtrusive. We ate in 18 and the food was good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was a buffet of hot and cold dishes with something for everyone. Had we stayed longer we would have taken advantage of the spa and the men would have played golf. Next time perhaps.

Not bad - Room a little careworn.

Posted 24-Oct-2016 on Hotels
We arrived late (around 10) and wanted a cold drink for the room as surprisingly there's no mini-bar. The bar was closing. Typically inflated hotel charges for a soft drink - that's life. The room was spacious and well appointed but we did notice it's a little careworn. Grouting missing from floor tiles, a screw hanging out of the bath panel, bath seal separated, overspray from the shower has lifted the veneer on the bottom of the bathroom door. Aircon worked OK and if you need fresh air (we had a golf course view) you can open the door to the balcony or open a window. The bed was very comfortable. There's nothing around the hotel for miles but then if rural Cornish seclusion is your objective you'll be fine. Saltash is a good 15-20 minute drive. This is a golf course and spa which is popular with day visitors the car park nearest to the hotel fills up very quickly. There is plenty of parking though.

Good facilities, nice room, very quiet, poor bar with lots of smelly golfers and a poor pint of Caffreys

Good for Golf

Posted 21-Sep-2016 on Hotels
I purely stayed here for business in nearby Plymouth. Mixed review; I'm sure this is great for Golf and gym purposes. Not close to towns or villages. I believe Callington is approx 10 minutes drive. The hotel has very creaky floorboards which is odd. 30 minutes drive to Plymouth across the Tamar Bridge (£1.50 cash toll). Restaurant offers great food but the service feels disconnected. Twice my drink followed my meal. The bill arrives but no one comes to take payment. Would recommend and will stay again

Good hotel for golfers.

St.Mellion is located outside Plymouth, so ideal for a quiet break. Two good golf courses and a nice health club with swimming pools. The restaurant staff are willing but could do with more training, some of them were very nervous. The room had a balcony overlooking the golf course and was well serviced.
