    About this property

Charming Xviiith Century Mansion With Swimming-pool

Charming old mansion completely restored in 2010, the Logis has kept intact its charm while being modernized to the style of the day. In a private park of nearly 30 hectares (75 acres), crossed by a small river. 40 minutes from the beaches (Royan, islands of Ré and Oléron). 9 golf courses in the area: www.plus-de-golf.com/parcours-golf/Charente-Maritime-D17.htm Many attractions for children (Aquarium in La Rochelle, Palmyre Zoo -one of the largest in Europe-, water sports in St Savinien). Music Festival at the Abbaye aux Dames in Saintes. Built in the early 18th century, the Logis is part of a property that has not changed family for 200 years. This is a cozy family home that has remained preserved throughout the generations. The region is one of the sunniest in France and famous for its beaches and the famous islands of Ré and Oléron. Area of old traditions, notable for its architecture with the beautiful cities of La Rochelle, Rochefort, Saintes and St Jean d'Angely, Romanesque churches lost in the countryside and small villages built with local white stones. Culinary tradition with oysters, the famous butter of the region (said to be better that the one from Normandy!), cheeses. And Cognac!

      Family gathering

A great house for a large family gathering with lots of room. The decor is very traditional but very comfortable. A fantastic pool which is fenced off for safety. The kitchen is well equipped though we did struggle initially with the newly installed stove. This would have been a problem except for the wonderful caretaker Jean-Marie Pape who used his initiative and adapted the system to enable it to be utilised. Jean-Marie and his wife Mireille were fantastic. They responded immediately to any requests for assistance and were both cheerful and helpful. Thank you to you both. The only downside is the poor internet connection though the mobile phone signal is very good. We highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to hold a similar event.

beautiful property in beautiful settings - brilliant family holiday

I didn't want to leave a review as it would attract more interest and I might not be able to have the 2 weeks we want for next summer, but this property was brilliant. we were between 9 and 15 depending of the days and we always had space . the park is very secure for the children, who enjoyed the pool, the bikes available and made dens in the garden, played boules, and were able to run around safely. the property is looked after by a caretaker who lives on site, in another house, and it is very reassuring to know they are there, even if we rarely saw them. the lady who welcomed us was very nice and helpful, available night and day if necessary. there is also a chateau within the park but it is about 100 m away and their swimming pool is facing the other way so both properties have their own privacy and we didn't hear the tenants of the chateau during our stay . St saviniens is only 5-8 min drive and offers market, super market, docteur, boulangerie etc and also children activities. we didn't visit that much the area as we were so comfortable in the house, but there are activities for all within the region around the property , for all tastes. definitely a great stay in a great house with a great landlord very responsive and flexible and the care takers as well as the lady meeting us (and doing the inventory when we leave) were just wonderful. we will definitively want to come back next year ! xx
