This is a nice little Latin Quarter hotel in a very charming setting (Place de la Sorbonne). Friendly, professional staff. Walking proximity to many sites (Pantheon, Luxembourg Gardens, Musee Cluny, Notre Dame, etc.), shopping (St Germain) and transit (Metro, RER). Quaint (small, Parisian) features - tiny elevator, small bar, but a very nice (filling) breakfast spread downstairs in the "cave". There are also a few convenient cafes in the square adjacent (beautiful setting against Sorbonne & fountains). I prefer a place with a bit of character - and good service - to the large, impersonal, tourist hotels.
We had a very welcoming start in Paris thanks to the friendly and helpful staff of GHSM. We chose it to try the area as last time we were in Paris we stayed at Champs Elysees area (rookie mistake!), and we have no regrets. The stores, the brasseries, the restaurants, the young people, the historic buildings, the metro accessibility are all just steps from the hotel. For us, it was very convenient. The hotel beds were very comfy and the lobby area very pretty. We felt safe walking into the hotel late at night and in our room. We even had a 'sun roof' in our room! The staff also helped in suggesting touristy stuff to do, how to get there or where to get info, and even booked us the taxi for the last day, making sure we didn't miss the plane. We loved GHSM!!
Hotel was good in a great location in central Paris close to metro, bus and plenty of places to eat. Room was slightly small but fine as a base. Hotel was very clean with room/towels done every day. Overall a great place to stay!
Loved it. Stayed 7 nights. I was able to walk to the Louvre, Centre Pompidou, D'Orsay, Notre Dame.
My room was larger than those I get in NYC. No view, but I was not there to sit in my room.
It was quiet and came with a super waterfall shower. Loved it.
Julia and Louis at Reception were just wonderful. They were so kind and patient. And Julia was sweet, kind, and gorgeous.
I was close to Marks & Spencer, s well as a large Monoprix, so it was easy to get provisions.
Metro was close, as were the bus stops and RER train line.
The local neighborhoods were full of bookstores, brasseries, art galleries.
I would definitely stay there again.
Can't imagine staying anywhere else.

A great little hotel, right in the bustling heart of St Germain.
Very comfortable and tastefully decorated room, we choose the
back of the Hotel for a quiet sleep and got it.
The location is the biggest draw, right in the heart of cafe's, restaurants, bars and shops
and close to Metro stations and even the airport RER.
Spent 4 nights there for exhibitions etc. Were there when terrorist activity kicked off but felt safe in this area and hotel stepped up security. Is handy for San Michel metro and RER and only a short walk to many gardens and tourist attractions. Room good and quiet if window shut. Has a lounge and bar area as well as a roof terrace for views of the city
This was my 4th stay in the area but 1st time at the Recamier and I will definitely choose this hotel for future visits. The location on the quiet side of Place St Sulpice was delightful with the looming towers of the church right outside the window (5th floor, Room 51) and a view of the Eiffel tower over the rooftops. Smallish room typical of Paris but well-designed and well-appointed.
