Nice setting and pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant has excellent food.
We had two rooms with a patio. The patio extends to all room at that level with partitions for privacy.
What we think happens is that some of the guests take these rooms to be able to easily get outside and smoke. Both our rooms had a mild cigarette smell. Next time I'll book a room on a higher level. The SPA facilities are very good. One of the best hotel saunas ever.
I was solo traveler for one day. I was upgraded to first class room because it's +VIP Access Hotel and I am Expedia Gold member. Didn't have the chance to explore the hotel facilities, but I enjoyed the great view of the river and the city sky line. But the car parking wasn't included and costs 22 euro a day which is much.
The staff at this hotel were excellent. Upon arrival the gentleman at the front desk gave us a detailed description of where we were in relation to all of Frankfurt's must sees and marked various areas on a map for us. The room was dated but very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a traditional German breakfast and was delicious! The hotel itself is just a 20 minute walk from the popular Romerplatz and allows easy access to many restaurants and pubs.
We were flying out of the Frankfurt airport so decided to drop our rental car off the night before and have an evening in the old section of Frankfurt. We wanted the hotel to be a walk back from the old section, but this one was a little further than we had realized - maybe an hour.
There was an option for the Ubahn, but it was under construction, no service. And, since the local soccer team lost a game, the staff suggested it might not be a good idea to take the tram. So we walked.
Taxi to the airport about 40 euros and 15 minutes.
Located on the south bank of the river, Sachsenhausen is where locals go to eat, drink and be merry. The narrow lanes fan out from Affentor Platz and lead to the city's best cider houses which produce their own Apfelwein. On the Museumsufer, along the river embankment, are the Städel Gallery, the Deutsche Filmmuseum, the Communication Museum, and the Crafts Museum, among others. On Saturdays, Schaumainkai hosts the city's largest flea market.
