My stay at Star Arctic Hotel was one of the best experiences I had. I stayed the glass ceiling cabin which was very cozy and very clean. The staff was very hospitable and attending, they go above and beyond to help you especially Hanna. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

Really positive stay and we loved the room except for a few negatives: Tv is positioned way too high up to the ceiling. We could hear the neighbors in our room in the morning. Stairs up to the bed kind of almost damgerous Lobby is disappointing, only one couch to sit by the fire

Fantastic sauna rooms
We had a great time at this hotel. Our room had a private sauna, which we used several times and really enjoyed. The room was large and comfortable. The hotel itself is located outside of town and a little confusing to get to the first time (especially as it gets dark very early). It's also a higher elevation than the area around it to try and increase Northern Lights viewing. We actually found that did not help us see the Lights, as there was often a lot of fog which blocked the lights. But it wasn't hard for us a drive a short distance for better viewing. The staff was varied. Several went out of their way to be helpful and give advice/suggestions. One or two seemed like we were bothering them when asking questions. Breakfast had a lot of options, but we found the food bland. All in all, we really enjoyed this hotel and would stay here again.

Excellent hotel overall. We had the Aurora Cabin. Rooms are extremely comfortable and well thought out. Heated floors, comfortable bed, heated windows for the night sky view. Bathroom well designed. Breakfast is included and there’s plenty to choose from : the usual toast and spreads, cereal, hot food (eggs/bacon/sausages etc), yogurt with plenty of toppings, cheeses and cold cuts, fruit and desserts. Plenty of hot drinks on the machine to choose from and the hot choc was great! Dinner at Kaunis was excellent and well worth trying. Staff extremely polite and friendly. 30 min walk to Saariselka town in the snow. I suggest renting a car. No complaints here and we are already planning our next trip.

Excellent property! A perfect location if one wants to see the Northern Lights, especially with the glass roofed bedroom. Perfect breakfast! Perfect staff! The door of the room was a bit loose and with the very powerful (and apparently uncharacteristic) winds in the area, the door kept squeaking throughout the night. The noise of the wind was very loud in the room. It would be nice to finish the pavement outside the rooms or between adjoining rooms perhaps. But, overall amazing!

Hotelli upealla paikalla ja henkilökunta erittäin ystävällistä. Aamiaiset ja ruoka hyvää. Kaikki toimi moitteettomasti. Ainoa miinus oli, että expedian varaus aurora mökistä oli kääntynyt hotellilla normaali huoneeksi ja ehdimme tyhjentää tavarat sisään ennenkuin kävin kysymässä asiasta. Saimme kuitenkin heti vaihdettua uuteen paikkaan.

Brilliant hotel, we went for the northern lights and skiing and found the hotel to be a perfect choice. It was approx 50metres to the perfect place to see the northern lights and the ski lift was a similar distance or you could take the toboggan slide which was a lot of fun. Breakfasts were brilliant and rooms really well stocked with a microwave / fridge and hob. Heated cupboards for drying clothes after the slopes! Evening meal was lovely although the menu didn’t change (only 5 items to pick from) so might be worth trying a trip into the town centre which is 2.6km away. Excellent for kids too! Great place would go back!

We loved the hotel, we stayed in an aurora cabin, it was nice, cute, and it was lovely over looking the snow from bed, the stars were amazing. I’m not sure if you’d get to see the northern lights from there, definitely not as well as in a trip as there’s a bit of light pollution from cars and you get a reflection from the neighbours cabin if their light is on. But the hotel was lovely and a great location, you’re at the top of the ski lift, so you can sledge into town or to the ski resort to hire skis and a lift pass. We had a great stay thankyou

Visiting Lapland
We were visiting Saariselka for a Wedding and chose to stay at Star Arctic. The location of the hotel gives amazing views and is situated at the top of the ski slope, allowing you to ski, toboggan or take the ski lift down to the town. Walking down/up however takes around 35 mins. We felt the hotel could have provided a shuttle bus service into the town as the hotel only has one restaurant with quite a restricted menu. There is only one other restaurant close to the hotel (2 minutes walk) however this closes at 5pm with the Ski slope and not an option for dinner. The room was a good size, well presented and clean. There were 2 days however where towels were not changed and house keeping did not make up the room. The stairs that take you up to the bedroom are extremely steep and narrow, which may make it inaccessible for older people or dangerous for children. The buffet breakfast provided was nice but again quite limited in terms of choice. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The excursion we did was the Aurora Snowmobile Hunting, which was really great and would definitely recommended.

Beautiful Views
Thoroughly enjoyed my two-night stay in one of the aurora cabins, which are small, but perfect for one or two people. The bed is situated directly under the heated glass ceiling, and the cabin itself stayed nice and warm. The bathroom floors are even heated! The staff at the main building are helpful and accommodating, and the activity desk easily booked both airport transit and a tour for me (both at a fee). The included breakfast is pretty extensive, and the top of Saariselka Ski & Sport trails are only a short walk away. The only items that I would note is that use of the sauna will cost extra, and that this hotel - to its benefit for the views - is located beyond the rest of the shops and restaurants in Saariselka, so you'll have to take a taxi or other transport to get there. Overall, a wonderful experience, and I fully recommend this hotel.

Great Location for Northern Lights viewing
We stayed 1 night in an Aurora cabin during January. Unfortunatly we did not see the Northern Lights, as the weather was too cloudy, but we still enjoyed our glass roof cabin experience. The Aurora Cabins were very modern inside, and the glass roof was heated, for clear viewing of the sky. These cabins are facing the North, to maximise your chances of seeing the lights. The Star Artic Hotel resort is located on the top of a big hill, which offers really good views over Sarriselkä and Inari. The best viewing point for the Northern Lights (i.e. the Triangulation Tower) is only 300m away from the hotel. We ate dinner at the Star Artic restaurant, which was fine dining & delicious, but a little more pricy than in-town options. Staff were very friendly. Buffet breakfast was included, which offered a good range of options. Checkout was at 12noon which was great. A good tip is to ask reception staff to book you a cab for the trip back into town 24hrs in advance, as you will get a cheaper fare, i.e. 10 euros instead of 20 euros.

Amazing stay, great location, friendly staff, fun activities. It would be useful if the staff at reception gave more guidance or had a little more info/specific details on what you can do at the property, as well as the neighbouring ski/toboggan run (prices, opening times, routes etc.)

Staff goes all the way out to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Activities provided by the property are also well planned and enjoyable. Location is further up north from city centre but I appreciate the calmness and tranquility among the snow. Would definitely return!

Terrible night, they claim that the glass were heated to melt the ice, but our room the heater were completely malfunctioning, even there is ice inside the room nearby the glass, it provided the heater wasn’t functioning at all. We have taken down photo for this room, we spend 300euro for this room is just terrible

The heater for the glass has 2 buttons inside the room, one is for turning it on, and another is for the power of the heating inside the glass. In this case, the heating power was on minimum, which caused it that not all snow melted during heating. This can be manually turned to medium or maximum. Beautiful spot - the rooms are amazing!
The resort is great, we were offseason so lots of mud and rain as opposed to winter but that didn't put us off at all although I imagine in winter it is absolutely magnificent. The room is incredible. Spacious, cooking facilities, the bathroom is huge, the sauna is amazing, there is a great view and the balcony and view is great. There is also a clothes dryer - perfect for northern weather!

Northern lights from your cabin!
The view from this hotel is amazing, whether you are sting in one of the Aurora cabins or one with a view of the village. The hotel staff were helpful and accommodating and provided some thoughtful extras for husband's birthday. The breakfast had a range of items available. and the evening meal we had in the restaurant was delicious. We loved everything about this visit, especially being able to see the northern lights and a million stars from our aurora cabin roof!

Nice cabin with beautiful night view
The aurora room was definitely fantastic with heating for the windows to make sure snow does not block the view. Toilet floor was also heated so no worries about cold floor tiles. As for the service, there was some hiccups but quickly resolved. Special mention about Leena and especially the reindeer lady, can't remember her name, they make us feel so welcome and that makes it one of our best experience we had in our 10 days Finland trip. Restaurant food was also very good and we even tried the bear soup with truffles. Only feedback is the hotel should do something about its lighting at the reception building. It is very bright and actually causes light pollution, especially if you want to see the northern lights. But luckily we did see the faint lights in the cabin but have to travel further from the hotel to catch a better view.

Location is a little secluded, so not easy to get to shops on foot. However, it's a lovely place to wind down and get away from the hustle and bustle. Hotel organises a range of activities that one can look into (at an additional price) - our highlight was the reindeer experience which was superb. Our room was the aurora cabin and it was spacious, comfortable, modern and well-heated. The changeable LED lights were a nice touch. Only complaint would be that the reception staff seemed a little at a loss when we wanted to confirm the activities we had booked (via-email) - seemed to us like the activity booking didn't seem to be tied into our room reservation. Or if it were, she wasn't inclined to help us look up what we had booked. That aside, we had a lovely stay and would definitely consider coming back.
