Nice hotel in nice surroundings

Posted 27-May-2016
Pros: It's general ambiance
Cons: Flushing the lavatory in the bedroom was problematical at best
Location: Close to Rutland water
Efficient rather than welcoming and attentive reception. Superior rooms was very comfortable with large bed and sitting area. Food was excellent both at dinner and breakfast with very good service

A wonderful nights stay

We went mainly to visit the restaurant. But always enjoy the hospitality of the Lodge. Once again the food surpassed expectations and the ambience was great. We stayed in a superior room, which was much larger than the standard we stayed in previously. The shower was to die for!!!

A good overnight stop

Posted 13-Mar-2016
Pros: A friendly cosy place with real room keys! Good value all round.
Location: Within a short walk, to the lakeside and near the lovely little town of Oakham. Lots of things to see and do in the area.
Had booked for Barnsdale Hall but changed our mind in favour of something smaller and more cosy. A good choice at a very reasonable price for a superior room. Dinner was excellent as were the general facilities and staff. Only minor moan was that we had to cross the courtyard to get to our room but happily weather was kind to us so brollies not needed. Would certainly like to revisit.

Relaxing escape

The food was excellent and both the hotel and restaurant staff were very good. The organgery is especially pleasant to relax in. The only thing I would change is a later breakfast at weekend.

Super place to relax and enjoy a slower pace of life. Hotel was very comfortable with a superb conservatory and lounge which were a great place to sit after an excellent evening meal.
