The Queen at Chester Hotel, BW Premier Collection
10/10 Excellent
"Fantastic, quirky hotel. Bargain for the price I paid. Opposite the train station for convenience and a 15 minute walk to the main centre. Can’t wait to stay here again next time I visit Chester "

Crabwall Manor Hotel & Spa
10/10 Excellent
"Excelled as always. Everything about Crabwall Manor is the best. Fantastic grounds, stunning rooms and attentive staff from the reception to the bar staff to housekeeping.
Warm welcome on checking in at reception, passed the keys to room 47 and although it doesn’t really have a ‘view’ the enclosed courtyard was nicely presented. The room was vast with enough space to provide the 2 high back chairs without feeling crowded. Bathroom was huge……(only wish was it had a freestanding bath!!!!) and again nicely decorated. Had drinks and evening meal in the bar, food was as great as was the staff who couldn’t do enough. Peaceful nights sleep with little to no noise from surrounding rooms.
4th visit now and I’m feeling that will soon increase given just how great every stay has become."

Holiday Inn Chester - South by IHG
6/10 Okay
"Must have been given a room that dogs have stayed in as my eyes were itching within an hour of settling in to the room followed by sneezing fits. Woke up the next day, more sneezing and completely bunged up. My wife also mentioned she could smell urine in the room so wasn’t the most comfortable of stays. The room looked like it had just been redecorated and bathroom refurbed so no complaints there. Just think any hotel accommodating dogs need to consider customers who have allergies to pets to ensure they are given a pet free room. "

Ruthin Castle Hotel
8/10 Good
"We had a lovely welcome at reception, and we had booked a Spa afternoon before our check in . The welcome was not as forthcoming at the Spa , and it seemed a little disorganised. Be aware that if the hot tub is cancelled due to the weather , you will not get a refund, apparently it’s in the T’s & C’s . The room was lovely if a little tired as some other areas were as well , granted it’s an old building , but the maintenance was a little lacking . The service and welcome at the restaurant was very good for evening meals and breakfasts . A couple of criticisms , the wine glasses could nicer , not ordinary glasses , especially as your spending £60 on a bottle of wine . The other was at breakfast, the plates were in a cabinet , which initially I thought was for heating the plates . This wasn’t the case , the plates were freezing and your breakfast was soon cold . "

"We have stayed numerous times, but unfortunately they seem to be on a downward slope of decline. Rooms are tired, make up mirror was chipped badly and the handle came off the shower wooden floors scratched really bad. Ordered room service and was asked to pay for it there and then which made me feel as if we were going to do a runner I’m not pay!! Check in at 3pm and only had one member of staff on and was not happy and welcoming at all. She needs to go on a customer service course. We had to wait 20 minutes to check in!! Not really sure if we will return. "
