Scroll to bottom to read more.\* šŸ›¶This is the perfect spot to get away from it all. Our home is peaceful, quiet, and has plenty of distance from any neighbors. In fact, there's a good chance you won't even see anyone around the home or on the lake. Our home is on a very quiet cove and Mayo Lake itself has little to no boat traffic, even in the summer. We are only 15 minutes from Hyco Lake, and Mayo Lake has a much more private feel than Hyco Lake. šŸ¦…This beautiful home has lots of windows and incredible views of the lake. The floor plan is open and you will be greeted with beautiful pine floors as you enter. The views are amazing! In our cove there are often Snowy White Egrets, Blue Herons, jumping fish, turtles, and sometimes Bald Eagles and Beavers. The fishing on our dock is fantastic. You can catch Crappie and Bass. The night sky is incredible and you'll love looking for shooting stars at night. šŸš£ā€ā™‚ļøOur home comes with 3 paddleboards and 2 kayaks for your use. We also have several different sizes of life jackets. Our cove is an absolutely beautiful place to explore by paddleboard or kayak. (And by the way, if you haven't tried paddleboarding, it is incredibly fun! You can stand, sit, or kneel. You feel like you are on top of the water!) šŸ˜ŽOur dock is the perfect place to lay in the sun and enjoy the serene beauty or jump in the lake and go for a swim. We keep several noodles and floaties at the house with an electric pump. There is a ladder that makes it easy to get in and out of the lake. There is room to tie up your boat and/or jet skis. The marina is only 5 minutes away (by boat or car)! šŸ”There is a large deck in the back of the house overlooking the lake with a large table and 8 chairs. There is also a propane grill for cooking out. šŸ”„The backyard has a fire pit to roast your hotdogs and marshmallows or you can just enjoy the fire with the gorgeous lake as a backdrop. We try to keep plenty of firewood at the home for our guests. The home has 3 floors: Loft Level - King Bed, closet, and bathroom with a large jetted tub. This bedroom is open and has incredibly gorgeous lake views. This bedroom has a desk with incredible views of the lake while you work. The natural light that floods in through the window is perfect for getting work done. Main Floor - This floor has a large, open spacious kitchen and living room with a wall full of windows to view the lake. The windows are so high that you can even view the stars at night from the inside. The dining table can seat 6 - 8 people. The kitchen has a small, yet cozy electric fireplace. The bedroom on this floor has a King Bed and a flat screen smart TV. There is a full bathroom on the main floor, right across the hall from the bedroom. The kitchen has everything you need to cook delicious meals with plenty of counter space. There is also a laundry room on this floor and a supply of beach towels. Downstairs - This is the room for family gatherings and fun! It has a large flat screen smart TV. After a long day at the lake, you'll love watching movies on the new leather, reclining couches. There is also a ping pong table in this room. The bedroom on this level has two queen beds, and there is a large full bath on this level as well. We have wonderful restaurants, breweries, vineyards, and fun things to do. (I provide all this info at the house as well). To make vacationing easier with little ones, the home has a pack & play, a high chair, a baby gate, and a booster seat for eating. Within minutes you can be dining at one of the amazing restaurants in the area. Brookland Eats is a family favorite with fresh fish, hamburgers, BBQ, and awesome desserts. American Hero has great Philly Cheese-Steak and Fries, and Clarksville Station Steak House or Old Country Club Steak House is great for the perfect steak. Smokey Dave's BBQ is a must-stop for some awesome BBQ. If you decide to leave your lake-side paradise, Mayo Lake Park (5 minutes away) has beautiful walking trails, bands, movies, and playgrounds. Virginia International Raceway (VIR) is only 30 minutes away, as is Orange County Speedway and South Boston Motor Speedway. Roxboro and South Boston also have great antique shops. If you're looking to just stay one night, message me, and I'll work it out if possible. The only internet available in the area is DSL. It can be slow at times, but we have always been able to work remotely, video conference, make phone calls, and stream movies. We cannot make any guarantees about the internet speed at the time of your stay. We have compiled extensive information about things to do in the area. We will send it to you once your booking is complete. All of this information is also in a binder at the home. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about your stay! It is as advertised, and even more magical in person. Everything was clean, spacious, and extremely well decorated. We had such a wonderful stay. It is truly a 5 star property for a reason. Lots of ways to relax here. Kayaks provided which my husband and daughter used multiple times. Awesome firepit area. Nice hammock to relax in. Very comfortable beds. Everything you need is provided. The view and amenities of this property were top tier with paddle boards and kayaks. Spent Christmas day on the lake paddle boarding. Our teenagers unplugged and enjoyed every minute we were there. They are already asking to go back. We were a group of 7 adults with a dog. I enjoyed fishing off the dock catching 2 large cat fish weight about 3 lb and 3 middle size of 1.5 lb and a small large mouth bass and played ping pong in between. The house is located in a quiet private cove and is fully stocked (inside and out) with everything and anything you could possibly need (towels, TP, spices, coffee, games, etc.). The house is beautifully decorated and the beds are the most comfortable I've ever slept in. The firepit area is located in the shaded backyard and made for a great place to sit during the day (when we weren't on the water). The lake itself has great fishing and swimming and we spent most days/evenings enjoying both. Communication with the owner was very easy and you can tell they take pride in their home and making a great experience for their guests. So cute, in a quiet cove. It has a lot of green space, where we played different games and allowed of dogs room to expend some energy. We loved spending our time at the dock fishing, swimming and making use of kayaks and paddle boards. House was stocked with everything you need to get started with your stay. Washer and dryer worked great and made quick work of any laundry. We had an excellent stay! The communication was awesome and checking in was a breeze. We went to Mayo park hiking and to Hyco lake to rent a pontoon, but otherwise spent all our time at the house enjoying our family. From ages 6 to 55 we all really loved our stay. Privacy perfection. What a beautiful view, home, and amenities. Top notch location, beds, bathrooms, game room, extras, outdoor sitting areas, and pristine patio furniture everywhere. Iā€™ve stayed in many VRBOā€˜s and this was by far the most well-maintained outdoor sitting areas. Host was amazing! I wouldā€™ve rated five stars however the beach area is not for wading or swimming. Very mucky, murky and floating algae. Of course our dogs didnā€™t care however be aware they will be very dirty if they jump in.. Disappointed that we could not jump in the water/beach with our dogs. We paddle boarded to a cleaner area to jump in and swim. This would be an excellent fishing lake, but we were not there to fish. Seriously, beautiful home and fabulous vacation! ##### Kelly K. My husband & I and two friends have rented many VRBO & other places over the last 35 years. This Cozy Cottage on the Lake is the best place we have ever stayed in terms of location, comfort & cleanliness. The beautiful cottage is situated on a hill overlooking the lake. We didn't see any other houses or people on the lake for the whole week. The peace, beauty & solitude were fabulous! One morning the lake was shrouded in fog & it had a lovely, other worldly "feel." This cottage is exceptionally well supplied & comfortable. The linens & mattresses are top notch. The house is sparkling clean & the decor is lovely. We have stayed in some very nice rentals over the years but this Cozy Cottage on the Lake is just incredible. The host, Kristen, was immediately responsive to two questions we texted to her. We are already looking forward to a return visit. If you're considering this place, book it! It is an outstanding value for the money. ##### Carol V. My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Cottage on the Cove, and it truly felt like a home away from home. From the moment we arrived, the welcoming atmosphere enveloped us. The cottage was thoughtfully equipped with all the little necessities that often get forgotten on trips, making our stay incredibly comfortable. One of the standout features was the delightful scent that greeted us upon enteringā€”fresh, clean, inviting (I attribute that scent to the \*real\* wood floors!) It set the perfect relaxation tone for our getaway. The owners clearly put a lot of thought into every detail, ensuring that guests have everything they need for a relaxing stay. The views from the cottage were simply breathtaking. Waking up to the stunning view of Lake Mayo each morning was a highlight of our trip. To having coffee on the deck watching the fog roll across the lake in the mornings, fishing off the dock and kayaking in the afternoons, to sitting around the fire pit at night. It was exactly what we were looking for in a family vacation. We can't recommend Cottage on the Cove enough for anyone looking for a quiet, serene and well-appointed retreat. ##### Robyn J.
