This was a really unique experience! The ship was beautiful, the food at the restaurants was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I wish we had more time to spend on the ship!

Myself and my partner stayed for 4 days, beautiful location and beautiful ship. However, when on the deck the staff are not helpful. We couldn’t pay via their app so we were sat around waiting for a very long time for someone to take our order as we couldn’t pay at the bar, customer service was not the best. Some staff were very lovely and then some were not helpful. Again, very very beautiful ship and EXCEPTIONALLY clean but the air con was rubbish and windows do not open! It got very warm in the room.

It's a legendary ship. What you get to see is fabulous but disappointed at how much is out of bounds, some of which you can see if you pay extra for an audiotour. Worth spending one or two nights to see it but I'd holiday elsewhere

Beautiful but strange bedding
The ship is beautiful inside and out and the promenade deck is stunning for a drink and sone snacks. Service amazing. Pool only for kids, this is not clear at point of booking. The main issue is the beds, although the mattress was comfy it appeared to be placed on an old sofa cushion above the bed base. Very strange. Would deffo visit again if they improved the beds.

The experience of living in an hotel in a boat was pretty unique! I love the idea of using the boat as it's meant to be even though you're not travelling anywhere

Very unique experience! Our room was quite a walk from reception but that just shows how impressively large this ship is. The room itself was lovely and clean with a very comfortable double bed as well as a fridge, wardrobe and desk, and a spotless bathroom with good-running warm shower - everything we needed! The ship is quite far from everything but there are buses a short walk away every 20 mins as well as a water taxi stop on the starboard side (again very unique!). Breakfast was rather expensive at EUR 21 ppn however it was of good variety and quality, was all-you-can-eat, and the staff kept the stock up nicely. Sidenote, all staff I encountered were friendly and welcoming. We also took part in a tour of the engine room and other below-deck ex-working areas which was very fascinating even with only being able to use an audioguide for English commentary (tour guide gave tour in Dutch but was happy to answer my questions in English).

My husband and I live on a cruise ship half the year and I am a content creator. My husband use to work on this ship. We were excited to stay here. My only advice is to not stay here in the summer. The air does not work nor does it circulate. As a ship engineer of 30 years my husband tried to tell the front desk and when we turned around to leave we were laughed at. It was my husband, 15 year old daughter and myself. It was a very bad night with no sleep. Also the restaurant: we were very excited to eat there. They forgot to put our order in. We waited 75 minutes for our meal. They forgot the appetizer, then the bread, then brought us the wrong water. Sounds silly but it was 2 hours of me getting up and down from the table to find a server as servers didn’t stop to us and there were many different ones. We live in the Netherlands and all agree we will never go back

Service needs improvement
Housekeeping came into our room whilst we were out and placed the do not disturb sign on our door handle, without cleaning the room. Later, I asked for coffee and tea to be bought to the room and when I asked about the former, they laughed and said they didn’t know. There was an initial issue with our room so we had to change. They gave us a smaller room which was a downgrade. We moved to a third room and we felt they were not happy with this reasonable request. The novelty of staying on the ship is great.

We really enjoyed our stay in the deluxe room , you could imagine back in the day it was a high end room , lots of room and 4 portholes , my only disappointment was the price of breakfast which I thought was too much at €41 for 2 , apart from that it was good

Loved the original decor. Food was great. A fantastic stay, however here and there little maintenance needed: Safe in cabin not working, hinge bathroom door to be adjusted (door didn’t close) Bigger cups for coffee in room and maybe add tea bags Housekeeping to check milk cubes at coffee station in cabins - Expired.

Wonderful and original boat - hotel experience!
Original accomodation in the city that has been married with the sea since its origin. The nostalgic vibe on this ship still breathes the old days of the Holand- America line. The rooms are comfy, the breakfast really nice and the views are as you would expect from a ship laying in Rotterdam. Highly recommended!

Leuke sfeer en we hadden er daarom heel veel zin in. Vriendelijk personeel. Helaas hadden we precies dezelfde ervaring gehad als iemand hieronder al noemde. Kamer 2080 was omschreven als heel erg luxe maar we werden wakker gemaakt om 4:30 met veel geluid en herrie die ging het hele ochtend door. (blijkbaar door de keuken direct boven de kamer). Als hotel en restaurant moet je niet alleen denken aan mensen die willen eten maar ook aan gasten die willen slapen. Echt teleurgesteld.

Simply unforgettable
An unbelievable experience. Nothing else like it anywhere in the world. The only other surviving 1950s liners, Ancerville and the SS United States have both been gutted beyond recognition. The Rotterdam is an immaculate piece of history and quite a comfortable one at that.

Until we checked out we had a wonderful time. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the ship (for a fee) which involved a guided tour of the enormous engine rooms and an unrestricted self guided audio tour of the rest of the ship. Wonderful crew cabin vignettes. We were however very disappointed with our departure. We saw no bus ticket dispensers outside the hotel so asked where to purchase one. The only option was a day pass from the front desk (8 euros per person vs 4 euros for a single two hour ticket). We therefore asked staff if we could get a five minute ride to the metro station where we could purchase a single trip ticket, in the clearly marked van sitting at the entrance to the hotel. We approached staff 3 times over the 2 days we stayed on the ship - to ensure plenty of advance notice. We were encouraged with the possibility and to check on the day we were leaving. At that last moment, "no staff are available to drive" was the "excuse". Really - in a near empty hotel during the pandemic?? Vehicle clearly parked outside at 9 am and only a 5 minute drive??? Instead they sent two 66 seniors into the pouring rain, to slog a mile to the nearest real transit point to the ship. Not the customer service we expected from a four star operation.

Was very pleasant except the promenade deck was off limits even for hotel guests. Only way to access that part was by joining a tour. It would have been nice to be able to walk there, especially after a meal in the evening.
