Cons: The whole place needs refurbishing.
I didn't stay. First impression driving up to reception was run down, unkept, smelly. Re eption area old, tired needs a total refurbishment. Not changed since i was there 2 years ago. Swimming pool not operational which was very disappointing as this is why we booked this hotel. Could not give me what i wanted. Did not stay. Very uninviting place.

Inexpensive night in Rotorua

Posted 08-Aug-2016
Pros: The jacuzzi and the price, and the quiet.
Cons: A friendly receptionist, sink plugs that fit, clear details on what you will get when you book,
Location: There is a lot of activities in Rotorua even in winter. Plenty of places to eat for all purses. The agrodome is one location with a lot of different
2 rooms hired on bookme with expedia, one was a double with a bed in the lounge, a jacuzzi, and a kitchen and shower. It was clean and pleasant. The second room was a bedroom/lounge and had a kettle, microwave etc but no kitchen sink which was a shock. Both cost the same. It had a jacuzzi too. The beds are comfortable and clean but the place needs repairs and some attention. It was still a bargain. It was a quiet place too.

Very Dated

Posted 24-Jul-2016
Pros: nothing
Cons: Revamp all interior facilities very dated
The room smelt musty damp smell, missing plug for sink,no toilet brush, no towel rail in bathroom. Very disappointed and nearly left straight away, the kitchen joinery delaminating, wall paper peeling off, bathroom fan bare wire not connected to fan burn mark on the wall. TV channels one channel only until I went and complained which they then fixed, no remote for TV until I complained they found another one. No spa pool, not working, front door handle loose, door sticking as you enter. Stains on couch, beds uncomfortable not happy.

4 Nights at Silver Oaks

Posted 14-Jul-2016
Pros: The price. It was warm, dry and bed bug free. The staff replacing towels, soap and shampoo. They also emptied the rubbish bins. Cooking facilities.
Cons: The rooms. The hole in the door. The beds. The couch / sofa. The cleaning staff making up beds on a daily basis.
Location: Great location.
This was our third visit to this motel. We have stayed twice before. It is centrally located and the price cant be beaten. The rooms are warm and dry - always a bonus in winter. The rooms desperately, desperately need attention. The bed, although clean with clean sheets needs to be updated. Its very, very soft and looks like its about 20 years old - at least. They have a sofa that converts to a bed. These are very useful, but as there is thin mattress underneath there is little to no support and sitting on them is very, very uncomfortable. The bathroom was working fine, the shower was working and draining ok and the lights etc were functional. It is very original and I would guess from about the mid 1980's. I agree that the images on the website are very similar to what the rooms look like now, just they were taken about 15 years ago. The person servicing the rooms could have made the beds each day. The first day one bed was made, after the second day we gave up and did it our self. Towels were provided as were soap and shampoo. Also dishwashing liquid to do the dishes. I wouldn't really call it a hotel or motel as the towels were replaced as was the soap etc, but the beds were not made. I call it semi-serviced accommodation. For the price we paid, we were happy with what we got. My suggestion is that if the spent a little on updating the rooms, the investment will be worth it in returning guests as they have really good pricing.

Disappointing

Posted 12-Jul-2016
The outside is very misleading... Looks lovely & could potentially be lovely but due to lack of maintenance & upgrades - it's one of the worst places we've stayed. Decor & facilities are VERY outdated. Some lights didn't work. Spa looked NOTHING like the picture. Broken, rusty towel rail, beds were super hard, 2x random end rolls of toilet paper, didn't feel clean or tidy... Heated pool was nice, but I wouldn't go back... Could be good if facilities were upgraded - and it felt clean!

Stayed here before

Posted 11-Jul-2016
Pros: Location and hot pools
Cons: Upgrade of rooms - new couch - it was grubby. Very basic.
Location: Central location.
I'd stayed at the motel a few years ago. It's seen better times.

Roomy but outdated

Posted 10-Jul-2016
Pros: Spacious rooms, lots of parking.
Cons: Whole property is outdated and needs maintenance.
Location: We walked into the city centre each day, but is a bit of a trek. Handy location to Whakarewarewa and getting to all of the activities.
Motel has great potential, but in dire need of renovations. Our room was spacious, but couch and bed uncomfortable. Pool was nice, but a bit too cold (the hot water flowing through only stayed on the top, meaning the bottom was very chilly!). Lots of room for parking, and could be made nice with a decent uplift.
