In a general manner, the hotel is quite good. It is well located, with easy parking. The room structure was working properly, everything you can expect, considering cost/benefit aspects. We had dinner at the restaurant connected to the hotel - a lovely evening, with great food, top-quality beer, and amazing service. Everything was going smoothly until breakfast on the departure date - we had a group of 4 adults and 2 toddlers. There was a great variety of options. But all of us that ate the eggs/omelets (5 out of 6) got sick, and I mean really, really sick (probably salmonella or a similar bacteria). My 11-month-old child had severe diarrhea and vomiting episodes for the next three days, which ruined a big part of our ongoing trip. Still rate the experience as OK overall, since there were really good aspects, especially the dinner, but the hotel needs to be very cautious about this food issue on breakfast.

We had a lovely stay here. The area is very walkable and immediately outside the walled city. The staff was friendly and able to communicate with us in English well, and even helped us attempt German. Very fresh and well-appointed breakfast. Beds were very firm, but from what I understand this is a common German practice.

The two-story suite was beautiful and perfect for me and my two adult children. We each had our own bed and the complimentary items were generous and appreciated. Close to the old town at one of the major gates. Breakfast was diverse and delicious. We not stayed one night, but it was fantastic!

Great location and good value for money. On the negative, we were assigned a room in another building across the back yard and at this cold time of the year, crossing the yard with our little two year old to get there for breakfast was a bit of a hassle. In addition, the reception wasn't occupied when we arrived on saturday 7pm. It took quite a while until somebody showed up.

Right outside the walls, easy access, good value.
Nice hotel, good breakfast! Easy access from the train to walk, just a few blocks and right outside the walls made for easy access to walk around the old town.

Everything about the hotel met or exceeded my expectations except the parking lot was dangerous. The stalls were too close together in the annex parking lot, the main parking lot was icy, slippery and very dangerous. They should either salt it send it or stay ahead of the ice.

Hostess did not speak much English but was friendly. Room was sufficient with private entrance. It was fine for what we needed. Breakfast was included and was nice to have coffee that we could get seconds. A small villiage atmosphere. Parking on the street.

Incredibly convenient location of the hotel, just right by the gate leading into the town. The rooms very big and very clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was truly fantastic, especially coffee and croissants!

Great hotel... we had the top floor family room with staircase to the loft master bed and half bath. Kids each had their own beds and full bath was on the main floor of the room. Comfortable beds, spacious shower and bathrooms, great views of the surrounding countryside. Good AC as it was very warm mid August. Breakfast buffet was terrific and included with the room price. Free parking another plus. Located right at one of the city gates, perfect location, walkable to everything. 5 min walk to town center for the renowned night watchman tour. There was a fun (but noisy) beer festival in town while we were there so it was nice to stay where it was quieter.

We enjoyed our room once we complained how hot our original room was. The second one was nice with a small amount of A/C. Our kids room was not quite as hot so they stuck it out with a couple fans. The room is very convenient to the old town. It also had parking which helped out.

Amazing breakfast buffet! Wish the AC could have been stronger but room was large and met our needs. The restaurant apart of the hotel had tasty food but did have to wait sometime to order and get food. They were very busy tho. Couldn’t ask for a better location!

Great location, just outside the historic city wall. Our room was spacious although the bathroom was small. We had dinner in the restaurant our first night and it was delicious, and the service was fast! The breakfast buffet is wonderful.

Everything about the location was good. My room which is a family room was not air conditioned. But they informed me about it prior to arrival. It would have been good if it was. Otherwise the place was excellent, breakfast was excellent , everything else was excellent really!

it was very near an entrance to old Rothenburg de Taub. It had elevators and airconditioning. Beautiful lobby and breakfast area. Great breakfast, and the employees very helpful.

Jasmine at the reception desk was very helpful. When we got to our room, the key that goes in the slot for the electricity wasn’t working properly. I came down to yells her and she went to the room with me. Sure enough, it wasn’t working. She had someone come to fix it while we were out. It was so nice to see there were apple gummy treats in our room as well. I loved the location and the ease of parking. We also arrived early and they were able to accommodate us immediately.

Wonderful hotel.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is perfect. Just outside the city walls which makes arrival and parking easy. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was way more than we expected and very good. Highly recommend staying the night in Rothenburg at hotel Rappen.

Great place just outside city walls. Would be great,given global warming, and temperatures in the 80’s to give a top sheet to use instead of heavy comforter. Rooms are not air conditioned and can be noisy on the street side with windows open.

Our room had a weird step from the bathroom into the bedroom and we kept tripping on it and stubbing our toes hard. We had a family room and it was a nice size, but the parent bed was a roll away they had opened up and the mattress was not good.

Convenient location outside the city walls. This is an advantage because you do not have to find parking inside the walled city but the town entrance is only a few steps from the hotel. Hotel itself was clean and quiet.

Solid stay, overall.
Overall, it was a nice stay. The staff was friendly and helpful, really good breakfast, free parking, and we were able to check into the room early. The room itself wasn't spectacular. The beds were springy and the light in the bathroom was flickering. The location, price, and overall hospitality made it worthwhile.

Nice stay in Rothenburg
We enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was good, and the location was great just outside the Rothenburg town walls. It's also somewhat on the way to the train station from town. We'd recommend!
