"Clearly room 133 wasn't used for the photo shoot for the "luxury king room". The carpet by the bed was lifted to create a small speed bump/trip hazard. One of the faucet handles came off due to a missing screw. The drain wouldn't stay up so the sink clogged. The lighting in the room is very dim, which is a benefit so you can't see the stains and overall grossness of the carpet. The smoke detector battery was adjacent but not in the detector. The bed was very uncomfortable. There was a pretty good layer of dust on the nightstand. All the gold plated crap is an assault on the eyes. Breakfast was also disappointing. There seems to be a lack of basic maintenance in addition to needing updating and a deep clean. This was a disappointing splurge, I regret wasting money on this place. Since there does seem to be mixed reviews, maybe some rooms are better cared for or they're not legit reviews. I will never stay here again & regret the waste of money for a place that falls far below expectations."
"This is a beautiful cabin in an amazing forest area. Quiet getaway. Close to the Arizona Trail. Our dogs had a blast with all the new smells and our hike on a portion of the highline trail. Great host family. 16 moles from Payson, last few up a graveled dirt road, so expect your car to get dirty. Overall, a great stay for us."

10/10 Excellent
"It was a very welcoming experience. Contact less registration is the only way to go.. The property manager was very kind and attentive. Returned messages or calls with in a couple minutes. Cabins are clean the property is very clean and well kept . Awesome 4 days peaceful, no noise other then nature."
"We loved this place. Comfortable bed. Plenty of space for the two of us plus our labrador retriever. Our dog enjoyed exploring the great outdoors. The driveway is shared with two other homes, but they were very respectful when coming & going. The internet was a little spotty. I would suggest bringing your own mobile WiFi, if you need to do lots of computer work during your stay. As said in the description, the road leading to the home is dirt and has some "potholes" mostly by the dealership. The host was very attentive and answered our questions immediately. We enjoyed sitting outside and soaking up the cool sun in the mornings & a light breeze in the evenings as the sun went away for the day and just getting away from "it all". Payson itself is a great town. Reminded me of my hometown, Paradise CA. There is a dog park nearby (Rumsey Park). My girl enjoyed her morning routine of sniffin' butts and playing fetch. All the restaurants we visited had great food and big portions. We visited Macky's Grill, Rim Country BBQ (which offer BBQ, pizza & Italian), Crosswinds (where you can watch planes land & take off at the airport), Tiny's (served huge portions), Duza's Kitchen (eclectic options of food), Buffalo Bar & Grill. Many of these options have dog friendly patios too! "
"I stayed in cabin 6. It was very clean and comfortable. The owners are great people. I got to hang out by the fire pit with them both. Loved every minute I was at Grey Hackle. They go out of their way to make sure you have anything you need. I will definitely share with my friends and family. Thanks again for a great stay."
