Not worth it

Posted 05-Jun-2017
Pros: The location was okay, and I encountered two friendly hotel staff during my stay. The spa was well kept.
Cons: The staff's attitude, communications with guests, the kitchen hours, the cleanliness of the rooms, the advertising of the rooms...
Location: It is close to one of the main parks whereby you can get to the Old Town.
I had booked a Standard Double Room via my Expedia booking. Looking at the hotel website, it appears as though I was put in an Economy room. The website also advertised "Floor Heating" in all rooms, though this was not the case. I arrived late on Saturday and was looking forward to ordering room service, which was advertised as being 24 hours - however there were two menus, once ending at 10pm and one beginning at 11pm. As I could not get through to room service shortly after 10pm, I waited until 11pm only to be told that the kitchen was closed and was recommended that I go to McDonald's if I want food! Disgruntled, I decided to go to sleep, but I left my room service breakfast order hanging on my door before i did so at 11pm. The menu clearly states to leave it out before 3am. I awoke the next day, the menu was still on the door. No breakfast for me. (I learned, the following night, that it is best to take your menu down to the bar before it shuts at night if you would like to have breakfast delivered to your room in the morning.) I will admit, the spa was nice and the lady who was at spa reception was the only truly polite person who worked there (apart from the staff who were on main reception the morning I checked out). I found the hotel to be overpriced for what it was - even the mini-bar was overpriced and we were expected to pay for television. It was nothing spectacular and I feel genuinely cheated out of the amount that I paid.

Lack of storage space

Posted 20-May-2017
Pros: Virtually everything
Cons: Add shelves or some other storage for non hanging clothes to basic room.
Location: For a superb 3 course lunch at E7.50 with great value and delicious courses well presented go to Niklavs Restorans, Marstalu iela 1 In the Old Town
The hotel itself was very good, spotlessly clean and all the staff were friendly. Breakfast was good with a wide choice. The room was basic but perfectly good with one exception. Whilst there was a rail to hang clothes there was nowhere to put underwear, t shirts, socks etc. Whilst I personally had no problem with that as I travel very light and usually anyway keep my stuff in the bag, one of our group of three found it a problem. There would be no room to include a chest of drawers but the addition of a shelf or two would have met the need and made the score five stars. A good choice for a stay. Close to bus station and rail station, so easy to travel to coast for the day by train and to come from and return to airport by bus. Good location within walking distance of everything.

Downtown, great value for the price.

Posted 18-May-2017
Pros: Staff is helpful and fast, location is excellent, lobby, corridors and rooms look clean and modern. Breakfast is good, enough food choices.
Cons: Larger towels in the bathroom. Noise isolated windows: could hear cars and people on the street.
Location: There's no free water in the room (6 EUR for a bottle!), but there's a kiosk next to the hotel where you can buy water and snacks (closes 11pm)
Stayed at the hotel two times. I think it's one of the best prices and value for money in Riga. Would definitely stay again.

Short walk to the Opera House

Posted 10-Mar-2017
Pros: Very grand staircase and spacious hallways.
Cons: Would prefer larger fluffier towels for bathroom
Location: Close to the Opera House. Contaced the Opera via email before our visit as we wanted to see Carmen, staff were very helpful and great experience
Chose this hotel as it was close to the Opera House. Had booked Carmen, which was the best performance we've ever seen-so recommend it. Arrived late Friday night, upgraded room for just 10euro. Room was on first floor overlooking park and road, but there was no road noise, we only used the underfloor heating in the bathroom as we couldn't find how to switch it off, but even though it was cold and snowed on Sunday we didn't need any other heating. Room was nicely decorated and large, bed very comfortable. The bathroom towels were a disappointment as they were rather small and of thin quality. Breakfast buffet was good with plenty of choice and no problem finding a table, service was also very good. Would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Location: Very central location close to transportation and old town.
Front desk staff was nice and helpful. Hotel only provides soap and shampoo. There is no hair conditioner, no body lotion. Towels and bathrobes are worn out and id desperate need of replacement. Tea and coffee supplies were not replenished during our 6 night stay. Cleaning was sloppy. Location of the hotel is very central and close to everything.

Great hotel, amazing location and staff

Hotel is amazing, friendly and over all a great experience. I would love to rate it a 5star experience but only issue was parking. I thought on premise parking was not accessible and was a little disappointing.
