The breakfast is amazing, something for everyone. The staff are polite & very accommodating. Rooms are small but clean. The bathrooms are lovely. We had a dressing gown & slippers waiting for us & tea & coffee making facilities which was great. The only downside is it’s a fairway out of the city centre 2 kilometres approx which is ok in nice weather but in the rain and artic winds a bus is required. The bus stop is just across the road. Single trips are pricey but a 24 hour pass is pretty handy although they do cost approximately £12 each. I could fault the hotel in anyway but if you want to be in the city for shopping & bars this ones not for you. If your looking for a base for trips it’s ideal. We loved the views & It was quiet which might not have been the case if we were in the city centre.

We received a lovely warm welcome at Reykjavik Lights Hotel. They remembered I'd emailed them months before our stay requesting a double rather than a twin room for our stay for our wedding in Iceland - they gave us a room on the top floor with a view of the mountains and there was a bottle of bubbly, chocolates and a note congratulating us on our wedding, waiting for us in the room on our arrival. The receptionist was more than happy to arrange a taxi for us to our wedding breakfast and was really helpful, gave us lots of advice about getting around town. The rooms on the 7th floor are a little more spacious than the lower floors but still a little on the cosy side. The room, the bedding & bathroom were all very clean and the cleaners did a great job of cleaning up all the confetti which dropped out of our clothes on our wedding night the following day! (sorry about that!) The shower was so lovely, modern & clean. The water was lovely & hot no matter what time of day we showered. We previously stayed at another hotel nearby and that hotel's water smelt eggy, but Reykjavik Light's water isn't eggy at all and I was quite happy to shower in it and even drink it - it was absolutely fine. The breakfasts were good, plenty to choose from: all the pastries & pancakes were lovely, waffles, meats, fruit & cheeses, cereals, skyr, toast, sausage, egg & beans, selection of teas & coffee. We didn't try a shot of Icelandic cod oil though. Would love to stay here again.

This hotel was close to the downtown area. We rented a car so getting around wasn’t an issue.
