Very nice and clean and close to various restaurants. The area is super walkable too. The only reason why I'm giving it 4/5 stars is because of nearby construction... they start their work before 8am and it's insanely loud.

The price was affordable. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The small hotel is tucked away on a small street and we had a bit of a hard time finding it. The place is self-service so no front desk or anyone to ask questions. No elevator, so we hauled five pieces of luggage up three sets of steps. Other than that, it worked out well.

Check in was very easy and received great communication from this property. This was one of the cheaper options we found and we knew it was likely to be fairly basic. The room was very simple - two single beds, two bedside lockers and one sink with mirror. The blackout curtains were nice. I think a headboard would make the bed a bit more comfortable. Even a small tv in the room would've made a massive difference to our comfort. With that being said you're getting what you pay for and it was fine. I would probably stay here again for that price.

The property advised really nice restaurants nearby, like the Hlemmur Mathöll where we went twice (awesome beef and chicken burgers!). The area is good and convenient, close to the city center and with a lot of useful shops around. Beds are comfortable, everything is clean and staff is helpful. Kitchen available, but small. If you have to share it, it will not be easy and enjoyable to use. Some showers are not convenient at all (on the second floor), too small and with burning water. One shower door didn't close in the third floor. Overall, it's a good choice, not too expensive for Reykjavík.

Not at all like photos. We had the private room with private bathroom. It is definately a hostel in need of upgrade, not similar to a hotel. Towels were tattered & ancient, stiff. Linens felt unclean. Hair on sheets. People sat on steps outside our room & were loud. We left after one night, by 9am, because we were so uncomfortable staying there & they refused to refund us for the next entire day. We briefly met the guy working there when he knocked on our door to introduce himself & he seemed very kind. We didnt complain, theres nothing one man could do to fix any if it. We just immediately started looking for other accommodations ASAP.

This was perfect, exactly as expected, easy access, no desk, but instructions were concise and accurate, there was a gentleman there working on the building that gave us good info on where to park, easy walk to area with restaurants and small food marts, the room was basic but clean and secure

The staff are very friendly and create an awesome atmosphere for travellers. We didn’t get towels or the key when we checked in, but other than those hiccups we had a pleasant stay. If we visit Reykjavík again, we will definitely be back. They have a kitchen for everyone to use which was nice. The water isn’t the best in the room, but we found that filling our bottles in the kitchen was the move.

Dirty crook swindler place.
This room, beds, pillows, sheets are dirty, even has bugs on matters, also the room smell kind of like rotten eggs, We had no choice to stay one night because cold raining storm outside. We moved out early because of the unhealthy condition. We left key on door key hole, the place want charge us ISK$8429 for missing key. Even The service guy himself smell odor. This place is complete a crook, a swindler

Simple, but good accomodations for the price. The secondary location is only a couple blocks away, and still in easy walking distance from downtown. They did have a microwave and a hotplate if we wanted to do some basic cooking,

I wish I could give this place zero stars. I’ve stayed in many hostels, including one in Kolkata, India, that put this place to shame. The sheets are torn and stained and do not fit on the beds. The pillows are in similar condition. The towel they gave me has so many holes it looks like Swiss cheese. The level of cleanliness is okay but could be better. We had our room for five days and nobody so much as emptied our trash can. Upon booking we were told we would only share a bathroom with only one other room, however the reality is that we shared with three rooms. However, the worst part of Guesthouse Pavi is the attitude of the employees. The first man we encountered at check-in, Paul, was very nice but he was the exception. The rest of the employees are incredibly rude and hostile. I had a man literally yell at me on the phone because we stayed past checkout time even though we were given a different checkout time than they claimed. They act almost as though they are doing you a favor by letting you stay there. Also, do not rely on the ammenties you are told are available because you never know which building they will stick you in and all the different buildings have different ammenities (such as kitchen access). In short, stay somewhere else. Anyway else. We talked to several travelers that were all staying at comparably priced hostels in the area and their experiences were far better. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs.

I had read reviews that upon arrival to the apartment building, I would be unable to enter because the door was locked, so I called the number provided by Expedia ahead of time and told the man who answered my estimated arrival time. However, once we arrived, the man did not show up for another 40 minutes, and upon arrival informed me that I would not be staying at the apartment building, but rather in a house a few streets away. The man drove us to another house, which turned out to be farther from the city than the apartment building. This angered me because I had selected Pavi apartments based on its location listed on Expedia. I did not pay to be placed in a house farther out of the center of the city. The house in which I was given a room looked absolutely nothing like the photos in the Expedia listing. It was even more run down and dirty. than the place shown in the photos. And aside from the bedroom, the rest of the amenities (kitchen and bathroom) were in a shared space for who knows how many guests. Pavi tricks its customers into thinking they would be staying in a private room in a central location, but instead putting them in a shared space on the outskirts of town. Additionally, the staff is completely unprofessional and rude. Our first morning at Pavi, we were awoken by the maid standing outside our door screaming at another guest. A few minutes later, the woman was knocking on my door, and proceeded to yell at us about a dirty dish in the kitchen.

All tourists/visitors to Iceland I am requesting you not to book this hotel. The staff is very rude and useless place to stay. Even if you spend more money , you can stay in better place than this one.

It would have been good to know in advance that there is no reception as such, but one has to call a local number in order someone to come and open the door. We did not have a cellular connection or mobile Internet, our luck was only that we were not the only ones in this situation. And it may happen that the weather is not so nice while one is waiting in the street... Other than that, it is basically just a bed and a shower.
