Our recent 4 day stay at Hotel Kriunes was absolutely wonderful. Great views from the dining room, large sized rooms and very convenient parking. It was the perfect launching point for exploring Reykjavik and the rest of southern Iceland.

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. All staff were brilliant and couldn’t do enough for you- Especially Rockis (not sure on the spelling!) he was great and really went above and beyond for all the guests there. Our room was beautiful, spacious, clean and couldn’t be faulted, we had a beautiful view of the lake where we were lucky enough to step out and see the northern lights! Good location, close enough to everything (16 min drive to centre) but far enough out that there is no light pollution for the auroras. Would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat- well done to all and thank you for a fabulous stay!

Beautiful property on a lake with many nice perks. However, the water machine/ boiler, did not work and a major light was out in our bathroom. We were too late to enjoy the hot tub, etc… We were supposed to have credit for a beer?? They said at check in. Hmm. However, it is a very well maintained hotel.

Beautiful view, right on the lake, with floor-to-ceiling windows the entire width of the room and excellent black-out curtains. There are nice walking paths in the national park across the lake a short drive away. The room and the bed were larger than other places we stayed in Iceland. The on-site restaurant was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is on the outskirts of Reykjavik in a residential area. Very quiet.

What a great find !
Brilliant hotel! Hidden treasure ! Great views and the location is not to far from the city. The northern lights are on the doorstep! Staff were friendly and the food was amazing

We enjoyed our stay and hotel was very nice. I do feel it was a bit overpriced but so was everything else in the area. Breakfast was not the best and would recommend finding a cafe. Parking was very full while we were there but easy access from second lot.

The rooms with the lake view allowed us to see a "Northern Lights show" from inside our room. The staff was fantastic and I found it to be centrally located around where the activites are. Great stay.

Beautiful room in quiet area near water. Hot Tubs and sauna are open in the afternoon/evening and there is a fantastic massage chair in the changing rooms, The front staff were extremely helpful and kind.

Facilities are clean and the view from the room was also excellent. But there were some tiny flies outside the room, so it was hard to open the windows. It is about 20 mins ride from downtown.

Beautiful hotel by the lake
Comfortable, beautiful , cosy hotel. Very clean. The room was very big also the bathroom.The staff was very friendly and helpful .Breakfast was nice and the restaurant at dinner time is great. The surroundings are beautiful, you can hike along the lake or try hotel kayaks. Most of gests I think travel by car , but you can easily use the bus to get to Reykjavik center. It is 15 min walk to the bus station and 35-45 ride. As of july 2023 the frequency was about 3 times in an hour from early morning till late evening ( less on weekends). We used the buses during all our stay, no problem. Very recommended for quite comfortable stay.

Lovely hotel within driving distance of Reykjavik city centre. Location by the lake is very pretty. Shame there were so many potholes on the access road though (although it did look like this was being improved).

Wonderful hotel on a beautiful lake, just outside of Reykjavik. Much better than staying in the city if you prefer nature & peace. The room was newly renovated and very comfortable, with direct lake access. The restaurant was lovely with great vegan options. Staff was very accommodating. The bonus was a hot tub & infrared sauna to relax in after a dip in the cold lake! Was pleasantly surprised by such a price-friendly hotel.

The Hotel is tucked away in a new housing development but has a surprisingly nice location along the lake. It is a nice place to stay immediately outside of Reykjavik. The interior of the hotel includes a nice dining room with a beautiful view of the lake. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed seeing the Northern Lights over the lake during our stay.

Didn't want to stay in the city and this was the perfect alternative. Absolutely beautiful hotel, right on a lake, with the most picturesque setting - quiet, great room, wonderful dining in the hotel and only a 15min drive from downtown Reykjavik. Couldn't ask for more

We had a very nice stay. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, the views were excellent. It has a very quiet retreat feel while still being close to the city. Headsup. The flybus will not take you all the way here from KEF. They can transport you to another part of town within a 10 minute taxi ride.

The property wasn't easy to find and as we pulled up outside it didn't look particularly appealing. Inside the room was really nice with a lovely view over the lake. There was not anything to do around the hotel, with only a limited space to walk round the hotel. They appeared to be short staffed so getting a drink at the bar took a while as the only person working in that area was also covering reception. We had dinner in the restaurant, if you don't you will need to drive somewhere, which was very pleasant. Overall a nice hotel with limited facilities.

Dear Lain, Thank you for your feedback! Actually, we have so much to visit around, you only need to ask us or check at the arrival book in your room. We are located in the nature, so we are focusing on having calm stay. Our private area around hotel is limited, but then you can walk around the lake, which is around 10 km long. But despite that, we hope you had good time while staying here.

The hotel location is great, however, if you are booking this hotel you should know: 1) they don't have lunch service. The closest Deli is over a mile away. 2) The staff are very friendly and helpful, but after 9 PM or so there is no one on premise or at least there is no one you can reach. I woke up at night and looked for a drink of water. The mini fridge only had a softdrink, but I noticed there was no bottle opener. I went up to the reception are but it was deserted. Also there was not even a water station for after hours. My co-traveler was not feeling too good and it looked like if I needed help I was left to my own devices. 3)The next morning someone was there only prior to Bfast time. I wondered what would have happened if there was a medical emergency. This is in a place far from the main stretch. Anyways, will not be staying here again.

Dear Reginald, Thank you for your feedback! We are very sorry to hear that you are not planning to stay with us again, because of reasons, that are not entirely true. Our staff is ready to help you 24/7, that´s why you have phone in the room to reach us anytime you need help. If there is no staff in person at reception, possibly they are doing something else or just helping other people with something. We have more responsibilities at the property. We don´t serve lunch every day, but as staff mentioned we can always make some grill sandwich or something light. For these reasons, we have back up plan. Perfect place to eat lunch just 10min away from us. We are always open and ready to help you in any case. We hope you will change your mind and visit us again sometime!

This hotel sets the standard for customer service. Great breakfast, views and staff. They helped us a lot especially the dark haired lady who was working the morning of July 18th. Lovely hotel right on the shores of a beautiful lake. Lovely staff and comfortable bed. Don’t book the cheapest rooms as they aren’t as new. The new rooms are amazing. Nice breakfast and about 15 minute drive from downtown.

This hotel is located beside a peaceful and quiet lake. It's a bit far to get there but a restful sleep is guaranteed once you are there because they have the most comfy bed and absolutely no noise. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the dinner which was offered at a very reasonable price. You can tank up and get groceries at nearby gas station and Bonus supermarket before you go on your way the next day.

Nice, clean family run hotel with beautiful views of lake and mountains. Conveniently located in the outskirts of Reykjavik w easy access to the main highways for day trips - Blue Lagoon, Volcano and other nearby sites. Sara at the front desk gave thoughtful and insightful tips on sites and places to eat. We would stay here again.

Hotel was very well located for us as we have a rental car, so wanted to be out of town. We managed to see the Northern Lights on our first nights :) Views in the morning across the lake with ice and snow and mountains is fantastic. Our family room with separate bedroom and good space in the main room was perfect for us
