Pros: The location was great. The staff were helpful and cheerfully greeted us daily. The breakfast buffet was delicious.
Location: The hotel was situated near many restaurants of all price ranges. There were a large selection of stores for shopping. Museums were a walk away.

Great location for central activity.

Very nice hotel with great amenities, immaculate service and wonderful staff. Great location in central town area, walking distance to key sites. Bathtubs are slippery with high step overs and no anti-slip stickies. Rooms otherwise well maintained, great morning breakfast. Highly recommend.

very happy

Pros: everything is very convenient.
Cons: maybe a snack bar for people who arrive late to be able to get something to eat after the kitchen is closed?
Location: It's in the city center, everything you need except the market is there
There are always things unexpected, but the hotel stuffs are extremely happy and they are always happy to help out.

Perfect location luxury experience

Posted 19-Jul-2016
Our every need was cared for over our visit. The staff were all so gracious and personable we really felt that they cared about our entire Iceland experience as individuals. The breakfast was fantastic. We enjoyed the deli options, dark rye, large selection of smoked fish, fresh fruit and skyr to name just some of what was availible. We ate well our entire trip in some of the best restaurants and we found the breakfast to be some of our favorite meals. The rooms are beautiful, the building is calming, and the location could not be better for exploring the city. Thank you Center Thingholt!!

Don't stay here if you want to sleep!

Posted 17-Jul-2016
Pros: Location to all of Reykjavik (it's in the middle of everything), nice rooms, quiet modern lobby, great breakfast, friendly staff.
Cons: The noise has been addressed above. Bar service in the lobby is spotty, parking on the street is metered and needs to be renewed daily.
Location: Everything in Reykjavik is close by. It is in the center of the city.
Big Caveat: The hotel, staff, facilities and location are great; in fact, it's a wonderful place until 11:00pm. There is a very loud and popular nightclub 100 feet from the front door that can be heard from the guest rooms (not the lobby) until 2;30am on weeknights and 4:30am on weekends. I tried earplugs, but they only helped marginally. The poor front desk manager explained that they had tried to call the police on several occasions (this was a newer crisis for them) but there had been no resolution. I live in a noisy place and I love a lively atmosphere, but this was amazing! All of the Icelandic people that I met were courteous and kind, so this situation was definitely an outlier. I feel awful for the investors here, this problem is going to ruin their business. To be fair, the nightclub looked like fun and I probably would have been right in the mix if I hadn't had early morning commitments during my stay. I would definitely stay here in the future if the nightclub noise has been addressed.

Great boutique hotel

Posted 14-Jul-2016
Pros: Centrally located and convenient
Location: Around the corner from one main street. Excellent small restaurants all around. Walking distance to harbor, old town church
Outstanding. Beautifully appointed hotel. Rooms on first and second floor really pretty. Everything you need in the room. Staff was so accommodating, they can answer any question. Very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is great. Many choices in the buffet so don't need to eat lunch until later in the day.

Yes and no.

Pros: see above
Cons: see above
Location: see above. Plenty of nature things to do. We did the dogsledding adventure; well worth it.
This Centerhotel Thingholt is right in the middle of everything, very convenient. At present, however, there is a problem with the bar/restaurant on the corner which, on Friday and Saturday nights, provides the whole area with booming music from about 11 p.m. or so to 4:30 a.m. No sleep for those 2 nights. Otherwise, the hotel is very quiet, soundproofed perhaps. The hotel has central air-conditioning which is more like ventilation, I guess. No controls in the room. Plenty of cool air comes in the window though. If sunny, close the curtains around 3 p.m. to help keep the heat out. The room should have an electric fan in the closet. There's a small mini-bar/fridge; charges apply to anything eaten/drunk, but can use the fridge for personal items. The shower "stall" was very small; thankfully I and my wife are gerbils. The breakfast is Terrific. Quite an assortment of goodies and the staff there and throughout the hotel are ready, willing, and able to take care of guests.
