"Modern Apartment in a Central Location"
Our family of two adults and two children stayed in Apartment 13 on the second floor, for the May Day Bank holiday weekend. The apartment has a lift, excellent facilities and the bedding, towels, layout of the rooms were of a very high standard. Both double beds were very comfortable and the showers were good. There is a dining table everything you need in the kitchen (tea bags etc) but there is only one 2 seater sofa and 1 armchair so not enough seating for 4 people in the living room. There are 2 ensuites plus another wc off the hallway. The whole apartment is modern with excellent fixtures and fittings. The DVD player didn't work properly (we could only get a black and white picture) but one phone call to reception had them send someone to fix this and it worked just fine afterwards. Parking at the hotel is not easy to find if you are not familiar with Reading town centre and costs £20 per 24 hours so not cheap. The apartment block is just behind the hotel, through the car park. It's walking distance from Reading Station and a short walk from the apartment to the main shopping centre called Oracle that has lots of restaurants by the river. Despite the parking I would recommend this apartment.

Ideal place to stay as we came to visit the neighbouring stadium. The hotel staff were excellent and made my 8-year old daughter feel really special.

"Beautiful setting by the Thames"
A night away to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was a perfect choice. They upgraded us to a suite and both rooms overlooked the gardens and the river. The restaurant is silver service and we were greeted by Aylesbury Duck on a spit being roasted in front of a large open fire. Lovely dinner with fine wine and then time to relax in front of that fire with a night cap. Breakfast is served in your room and rounded off a delightful day

"Great Location Right on the Lake"
Although the drive was somewhat windy, and through the countryside, they have an idyllic location, right on the lake. A beautiful spot to wake-up in the morning, as it is very tranquil. Lovely to sit and watch the water birds whilst you eat your breakfast. The hotel is well established and has been there for a longtime. However this means it is now time for a renovation, new carpets, soft furnishings and wallpaper are needed, along with general re-tiling to bathrooms etc. Very clean and tidy, and staff were pleasant.

    Pocket Guide: Berkshire Reading Hotels

Reading is one of the largest towns in Berkshire and home to one of the United Kingdom's most prestigious universities. It boasts one of the best shopping centres in the country, packed with everything from the usual high-street suspects to upmarket, independent shops and boutique stores. However, Reading offers much more than excellent shopping; it's packed with attractions and things to see and do, making the town a superb place to enjoy some downtime. There's plenty of accommodation in the area, which comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, from unpretentious travel-stops to luxurious inns and townhouse hotels.

A Special Occasion? Luxury Hotels in Reading

If you're visiting Reading as part of a special occasion or want to treat your partner to a slice of the high life, there are some excellent hotels to choose from. The French Horn hotel in the nearby village of Sonning was once a 19th century coaching inn that has been lovingly and tastefully restored to offer luxurious accommodation. Set on the quiet banks of the River Thames and with its own fine-dining restaurant, it's hard to believe that this hotel is just a short drive to London. Alternatively, the Forbury Hotel, in Reading itself, offers sumptuous, boutique lodgings and was recently hailed as 'the UK's Sexiest Townhouse Hotel', by the Evening Standard newspaper.

    Family-Friendly Hotels in Reading

Those visiting Reading with kids won't be stuck for things to do; Reading is brimming with attractions such as Reading Museum, the Skiplex Endless Indoor Ski Slope and the Ure Museum of Greek Archaeology. You'll also find numerous family-friendly hotels that are low on cost, but deliver on quality and service. Hotels such as the Hillingdon Prince, the Parkside International Hotel and the Reading Lake Hotel offer high standards of accommodation and many family-friendly hotels with restaurants offer a children's menu, which helps to take the headache out of dinner-times.

Reading is a vibrant town, with a rich arts scene and there's almost always something to get involved with. Its easy accessibility makes it a popular destination for ‘staycationers’ and, with a wide selection of excellent hotels to choose from, there's something to suit virtually every taste and budget.
