Location! Location! Location!

It is a beautiful facility. If some of the staff wanted you there as much as you wanted to be there, it would be an amazing experience. There were some members of staff that clearly did not like their jobs or guests. However, there were other staff members that were unforgettable. It is the first hotel where I had to call and ask for housekeeping and simply placing petals on the bed does not constitute housekeeping when the refrigerator or bathroom items were never stocked. The hotel food was good, but the food outside the hotel (Wok and Fusion) was amazing. Very slight issues considering the experience.

Sanctuary Cap Cana

Sanctuary Cap Cana was a wonderful place to stay for our 20th anniversary. The facility was very nice, especially our honeymoon suite. It does need a little facelift, but it was still great. Our only complaints was the food. We were not impressed with Blue Marlin or Capriccio. We found that we enjoyed the restaurants at Sanctuary Town more. The beach is small but very nice, with a beautiful view. They work hard all day raking the seaweed to try to keep it clean. The staff is very attentive and polite. My only complaint regarding staff, is that I do not believe our roon was swept the entire week we were there. I know with the pending remodel, it is supposed to be a much larger resort, which the small beach will not support many more visitors. We would return, provided the resort is not huge with a tiny beach and the food improves at the hotel's restaurants.

Couldn’t have been happier

The only issue we had at the hotel was the AC not working the first night. The rest of the trip was amazing. We stayed in the junior honeymoon suite (upgraded from the monarch villa). Nancy (the housekeeper) and Emilio (our butler) made our stay an experience of a lifetime. The food at the restaurants was all very good. You’re right next to the ocean so keep that in mind when ordering your food and you will not be disappointed. I cannot wait to go back.

It's OK

Nice grounds and pools. Room are old. Renovation at end of this month is needed. Food was fair. House wine not good with only other choice to buy bottles. For an AI many things are extra which is disappointing. The staff seems to be expecting tips all the time.

A True Sanctuary

Pros: Rooms were very spacious, the Spanish colonialism architecture made you feel like you stepped back in time. It is true sanctuary.
Location: Location was perfect. Close to the airport but far from civilization. Beautiful beaches.
Incredibly Friendly Staff, Beautiful grounds, unique architecture, quiet and relaxing.

Gorgeous Landscape and Relaxing Ambiance

Sanctuary Cap Cana is a unique and beautiful place to stay. The large property and various pools make it feel private and never over crowded. The hotel staff was very friendly and courteous. Little extra surprises like freshly cut coconut drinks and popsicles delivered to the beach added a special feeling of being welcome and doted upon! Sanctuary Town and the entertainment have a place to hang out and be comfortable at night without having to leave the resort. The Fusion show was hilarious and probably the best of the food quality (eve though I don’t eat seafood. My husband thoroughly enjoyed it!) The overall rating was impossible for me to give a full 5 for excellence simply because of the food. The buffet was very small. Breakfast was not even impressive. Lunch was almost horrendous and we didn’t even attempt to go there for dinner. If the specialty restaurants we tried Fusion, the steakhouse and the Italian restaurant. The steakhouse ended up being good. The filet did not melt in your mouth or have a nice seasoning, but it was decent meat. The sides and desert were great. The portion of meat was small for two people. That would probably be the only restaurant worth going back to on a longer stay. The Italian restaurant was a hot mess. I think we were there for 2 hours and only chose 2 of the courses because nothing seemed too appetizing. And they weren’t! There was some kind of back up in the kitchen that caused the time delay, but the food itself was pretty awful anyway.

VERY CALM HOTEL

I have this trip for aniversary and the hotel was amazing. The only thing I dont like was the buffet. I thought that this hotel had a very variety of food for the buffet, but the thing was that the space for the buffet was very small. The entertainment was very good, thanks to Kevin and Jose, this guys are amazing!!!!! Carlos, the pool bartender, thanks for everything, the best.

Beautiful, relaxing resort

Cons: Service, food
The architecture and landscaping are simply amazing. Sanctuary is an appropriate name, it was quiet, peaceful and serene. Beaches were lovely, from the main beach to the private beach, where you felt in a world all by yourself. Check in experience is exactly what I had read in previews, we booked Castle SUITE OEANFRONT w/2 balconies yet were assigned a small "hotel" room with a window, no balcony. Room was nice, but smaller than a standard hotel room in a chain. I went back and said that is NOT what we booked and was then given the what we booked? WHY? I guess they count on folks to just accept what they are given? Not for the price I paid. First resort ever where we schlepped our own bags to our room(s). We were told we had a butler, but never saw him. Food: EH. If you are a foodie, this place is not for you. We actually lost weight, but we are not huge foodies. Also, mini bar is not a mini bar, just a fridge with soda and water and a beer. No wine, champagne, as with all other resorts, which we were told is available for a fee? Inconsistent service, from check in, to wait staff at the restaurants. Next time will just get take out from Sanctuary Town.
