Beautiful resort, excellent service

All I can say is wow! The staff was willing to bend over backwards to make our stay memorable. White sandy beach, 3 quiet pools and 1"party" pool. The steakhouse, Italian and Wok was excellent. Buffet was so-so. Excellent service around pools and the beach. We have been to a number of resorts and this rates in top five. Definitely going back.

Nice week long getaway.

Pros: Nice location, beautiful beach
Intimate - not too many people. Furniture in room was uncomfortable but pretty. Great service. Good restaurant choices. Disappointed that tips were expected - my prior experience with all inclusive is that tips are not expected, even discouraged. I would have also appreciated free wifi given the price we paid. Excursion that we took was great - Sunshine cruises.

Absolutely beautiful

Pros: The outstanding staff. They went above and beyond every day.
Cons: There were a couple of days when hot water in the shower was not available.
Location: We never left the resort. As an all-inclusive, we never felt the need to go anywhere else.
Our stay at The Castle was wonderful. From the time we arrived til the sad day that we left, the staff was friendly, helpful, and just fabulous. They went above and beyond every day. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable and clean. The beach was gorgeous. Even though resort was at full capacity, you would never know it. It was not crowded, there was no waiting to be seated at the restaurants. It was the perfect place to relax, unwind and renew. We can't wait to go back. Rebecca at the front desk, Immanuel the butler, the lovely hostesses Ginette and Conan, Naurys our favorite waiter, and Nathanael who was always there for us when we needed a ride, made the trip extra special.

Great staff and location, but...

Pros: The location, the entertainment staff, the beach, the proximity to the airport.
Cons: The food, insect control, the butler service.
Location: The resort was inclusive.
Upon our arrival, two folks in our party were put in a room other than the one they reserved. It took about an hour to get that fixed, and then we were underway. When I initially made the reservation, I call to ensure that our place was ocean front, because if not I was willing to change the room type in order to have an ocean front room. I was assured that all of the rooms in the class I reserved had a view of the ocean. As such, we decided to roll the dice, only to learn that you would have to cut down a LOT of palm trees in order to see the ocean. The room was spacious and well-equipped, but there were some "mystery areas" in the bathroom that I chose to ignore. When I went to the front desk to try and move rooms for a better view, I was told that the hotel was fully booked but there were a couple of rooms available in the future for an upcharge of $300+ per night. we decided not to because it is a pain to move once you are in, but it would have taken very little to comp up the room. The staff did try, and comped us late checkout. The food was just meh. And kinda gross at the buffet because of the flies that would land on your food if you did not continually fan them away. A couple of fans would have taken care of that. The entertainment staff and bartenders were terrific! They kept things festive and upbeat and made us smile a lot. Don't bother thinking that a room that includes a butler offers anything but a guy who forgets about you until he wants a handout.

beautiful spot. ok resort.

Pros -weather, resort "grounds" beautiful, close to airport -friendly staff - really, they are super friendly ! -small, easy to access restaurants/ pools / beach -check out buffet for lunch - by far the freshest options -public beach next to resort is wonderful - for sure try to take a walk/swim -loved the live music @ Sanctuary town Cons -food is not good, really I'm not that picky - most things tasted "frozen, overly salty, cafeteria" - not enough "healthy" options -drinks - there's some unexplainable not good / "cardboardy" taste to any mixed drink. uggh. (this is the norm in most AI I've been to) -I've been lucky enough to travel every winter to All Inclusive resorts in Mex, Jamaica & DR for the past 7 years, never have I experienced people saving floats/ pool mats - seriously?! towels/ chairs, sure. But, floats? for hours on end. It's irritating & resort staff should do something about it. -they overbooked our room on check in. -housekeeping was dodgy - stocking of towels was random & kleenex (the box ran our 1st night & never was replaced), totally not a big deal, just noting it -Sanctuary town restaurants ALL should be included in price.

Not a 5 star resort

Reserved a beachfront room but was not beachfront (more of a distant ocean view). There was another building in front blocking view. Room had a terrible musty, moldy Oder. Asked to be moved but the next room was the same. Food was mediocre and drinks/wine were not top quality. waitstaff was not friendly and had to ask several times to get a cup of tea with milk.

Wonderful stay

Beautiful beach, amazing food lots of varieties. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I recommend upgrading to the villas, ordered breakfast room service everyday. It was perfect.

Great atmosphere

Pros: The Villas, the beach, and the staff.
Cons: Small maintenance items, for instance the sink in the room had a small leak, one of the door handles was a little loose but nothing major.
Location: One day we took a trip to hoyo azul and it was incredible. The water is crystal clear and the guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we felt like we were family. The facility itself is starting to age a little so there are a few small things that you will notice however the property is amazing. The most important aspect, the staff, is top notch. There are a few employees who struggle with the language barrier however I think it adds to the experience. I was not looking to take vacation and feel as though I was somewhere in the US, I wanted to get away and I definitely accomplished that with Sanctuary Cap Cana. The hotel staff was incredible, they were friendly and very eager to help with anything. The property was beautiful and spacious. I will forever return to Sanctuary Cap Cana when I visit the Dominican Republic and will highly recommend it to my friends and family.

An amazing resort close to the airport

The grounds are breathtaking. The staff is accommodating in every way. The food is AMAZING in all of the various restaurants they have pretty much everything you could want. It's serene and the beach is pristine with comfortable lounge chairs and cabanas. Our room was beautiful and always clean & comfortable. The butler and various workers are so friendly and inviting. Only regret I had was that I only had here days at this resort & I wish I had more time there! You will not be sorry for choosing this resort for your trip. It's the best of the best!

Hotel needs renovation. Room was cold, damp

Pros: The staff was great.
Cons: FOOD!!! Dehumidifiation in the rooms.
Location: Ocean front, but very small beach, water did not look good. Nothing nearby.
Very uncomfortable room. Food poor to mediocre at best. Staff was very friendly, pleasant and helpful.
