Property is older but seems to be well maintained. Food was the best I’ve had on a resort. We stayed in a swim up room and it was extremely loud early mornings outside of the front door which woke us up everyday we were there. Room had a few small roaches, mattress was very hard, and I had to remind them twice, although it was stated in the reservation, that we were celebrating a birthday in order to get birthday decorations. Staff was nice and was willing to move our room to another building but on the 3rd day of our vacation when a room became available. At that point, It wasn’t worth packing back up and missing the excursion we had planned at the time we would have had to move so we made the best out of it.

The rooms dirty, the house keeping staff did not clean properly i have pictures to prove. Also, there are bugs crawling on the buffet and restaurant tables and Also crawled over my food and had a fly in my drink ! 2 of the outlets in the room didn’t work neither did the patio light.

I rate the location a 3 star out of 5 primarily because the rooms were out of date. When I turned on my television there was no Netflix Hulu paramount applications, in other words the tv was outdated. Another reason for my rating is because of the restaurant experience, the food wasn’t as appetizing as it appeared in pictures. The best two locations were Limbo for there steak and potatoes and in house unique drink along with MEAT which had exquisite choices to choose from. My last reason for rating the hotel a 3 is due to the activities. The best activities the public, customers, tourists, etc enjoyed the most ended very early. Take into consideration the saxophonist he was stupendous amazing an encore and silent disco was the best great decision for incorporating that as an activity BUT make sure it last longer. Dinner is usually scheduled late and when people finish eating they want to go out and have fun for more than one hour.

It didn't feel like a 5 star luxury resort. Food and drinks were not that good. The pool was closing at 6pm. An ice cream place instead of chasing the ice cream guy would have been better. The entertainment was OK. The fire show was great and the pool activities were fun. The live music was nice. I don't think I'll be back. Overall, it is too expensive for what it is.

We've been to this property several times over the years and this was probably our last stay here. Yes, the resort has gone through some renovations but the quality is very poor. Pros: Ambar is very conveniently located and close to the beach and the pool. It's adult only and pretty quiet at night. The food at the buffet is just not what it was pre-Covid, which is the last time we visited. The newly added restaurants are good but very hard to get into without making reservations ahead of the trip. The phone app is TERRIBLE. Bahia encourages guests to use the phone app for everything. It's extremely slow and needs some major upgrading. If you're booking via Expedia and are a VIP don't expect any upgrades at the hotel. The drinks at the bars were decent and the service was pretty good at the pool and the beach. The service at the restaurants was good but inconsistent at the buffet. The coffee shop and the gym are great new additions. Gym is very well equipped but could be bigger with more treadmills. It was packed in the morning between 6-9am every day. The coffee shop is very good too. It is unfortunate that we had to set our alarm for 5:30-6:30am each day to go out and reserve a beach or pool chair. If you plan on going out there later in the morning and finding ANY open chair, you won't be able to. People were reserving 6-10 chairs at a time and not showing up for many hours. Beach was very clean and beautiful as always.

My friend and I had an issue with a refund so unfortunately they did not refund us for 1700$ which already left a bad taste in my mouth about the resort. Upon arrival we tried to make the best of it while we were there. We did have fun and enjoy ourselves. The food was not bad, the drinks were as expected. We did meet some really awesome people… kelvin at the pool bar was amazing to us and treated us great the whole time. Alexis at the buffet by the pool was also pretty amazing and made our eating experience awesome. We met Elias who was on the Esmeralda resort and he was awesome too, I didn’t get the names of the entertainment team but each one of them was awesome, nice, and so much fun. The foam party was my favorite. We were not bored at all while there so I’m glad we got to go and have this experience. The beach water was phenomenal, it was so clear and well kept. The pools were huge so that was pretty nice. Mario on the Trollies was also pretty awesome. Aside from the fact that we weren’t refunded our money, I’d def go back to this resort

I have nothing negative to say! This was one of the best vacations I’ve had! The Ambar was very nice, the beach was gorgeous, and the staff were all very helpful. Madelin and the rest of the entertainment team were super helpful throughout the week and did a lot of fun activities around the resort. I definitely plan to come back in the future!

Prior to visiting the property I called several times to verify they could accommodate Gluten Free. I was told yes on several occasions. When I arrived I did inform the front desk as I was told as well. Whenever I asked a staff member about a gluten free option they had to go find someone who knew what it was. The only thing they offered was a long roll and a muffin in a bag. They put out a bag of pasta but would not make it so I’m not sure if it was just for display or not. Yes there were fish but most of it was breaded or mixed with noodles. Not gluten free family members were also disappointed with the selection and all the food tasted the same. Also drinks were very watered down and overall not worth the money.

PROs - Staff is very nice CONs - Very little entertainment(Circus was only big show) so if you're looking for productions like at Secrets/Excellence etc. this isn't your place. -Flies on the food at the Buffet and the Buffet room was very hot, not air conditioned. Also the Buffet is basically the same every night. -They did not change our sheets the entire 5 nights we were there. The towels at the pool were sometimes ripped and paper thin. You can't just throw them in a bin when done, you must return them or get an additional charge. -Difficult to get into Specialty Restaurants - All were booked -Difficult to walk the beach because it is relatively narrow and sloped and very crowded since there are so many resorts there.

This property is NOT LUXURY or VIP. The rooms smell like humid, I got an upgrade and got a bigger room with a tub and the tub didn’t work. The food is just ok, the best restaurant for food and drinks was limbo, drinks at the pool- beach are GROSS. A lot of the workers made weird comments to me like… how girls like big things and just disrespectful overall. The pool closes at 6pm? On an adults only resort? The spa was ok but the massage was actually good. This is at most a 3 start resort and I will still not come back

We loved our room. Ambar was great. Everything we came to a resort for was close. The pool was great. And the coffee shop...WOW. Dinning was wonderful. We had a great experience.

Very nice resort. The staff was friendly and the beachfront is beautiful. The food is average, the restaurants have food that they try to make to fancy. Deserts are plain tasting if you are from USA. Buffets are as expected with some dishes not staying warm.

The staff, property were amazing; super friendly and kind. My only issue, and it’s a big one, is the beach. The beach itself was AMAZING, however there is no regulation of saving beach loungers under umbrellas. You have to be at the beach at 5am in order to get one. And that’s not an exaggeration. First day I went out at 6:30a and nothing; 2nd day I went out at 6a and again they were all already taken; day 3 I went out at 5a and finally was able to get one. And when you look around there are people who come out at 5a to save a chair then don’t actually come back until 12p, 2p. I actually overheard a couple who came out at 2p say they went on an excursion! They saved their chairs under an umbrella and left the property and came out to their nice umbrella covered chairs at 2p! There has to be be a better way to oversee this. I shouldn’t have had to wake up at 4:30a on vacation to save a lounger/umbrella spot. I’m one of those people who spend 10-12 hours at the beach on vacation. Unacceptable.

The service was impeccable. Beautiful environment. Couldn't ask for a better adult family vacation. The food options were great. Enjoyed golf. A little miscue with our reservation of 8 at the restaurant, but it was quickly resolved. Only comment was the outdoor entertainment could have been better. We have been telling people all about this resort!

Portofino and MEAT were exceptional. Our mini fridge didn’t keep things cold and a few other imperfections in the room. Wished we could’ve had wine in the room as well. The property is beautiful.

This was our second stay in this resort. Very nice grounds, beautiful pool, and gorgeous beach. Our room was a corner jr suite on the second floor. Nice layout, and very roomy. Housekeeping was wonderful, and we even had turn down service. We enjoyed the a la carte restaurants very much, especially Limbo. Truly enjoyed the Turbo (fish) there. Nice bar inside as well. Beach chicken was great. Beach restaurant right by the pool is great for lunch. The Dominican party was an absolute blast. Very nice entertainment during the day, and again at night. Foam party was fun too. The entertainment crew is the best at this resort. They work so hard every day and night to ensure the guests have a wonderful time, and feel like family. Bianca was our pool server most of the week, and she made sure we were very well taken care of. Manuel my singing egg man at the main buffet in the morning-just the best eggs ever. Lobby bar is very nice, good drinks, lots of seating. Service is top notch, they are very attentive. Enjoyed the trip!

My first night I wasn’t familiar with the dining options. I came across Porto Fino and I was very impressed by the quality of the food. I decided I would eat my last meal there. Most importantly I met some of your great staff! This included Carlos David, Rosmeris Febles and Virginia Lissete. They set the tone for my entire vacation. I definitely would recommend Ambar!
