First of all, to start off with a positive, the property from the outside is beautiful and is very tranquil. My girlfriend and I decided to take a mini vacation and thought this hotel would exceed our expectations. Before the trip, you get messaged by an electronic concierge whom is off site and appears to be sketch. We did not see more than two staff members on the property, whom were not very helpful. They always had an attitude and always contacted the off site concierge to address concerns which easily could be taken care of then and there. The security guard in the front of the hotel was rude and provoked a very minute issue with us, instead of addressing it in a professional manner. Upon us getting there on our first night, the room given to us was incorrect and the staff member at the office told us it was our fault when clearly it was not. The off site concierge contacted us and told us they would upgrade us but we still had to pay a fee. Even though it was an error on their part. The rooms would not be cleaned on a daily basis. It wasn’t until the last day that the off site coordinator asked us if we needed a change of sheets or towels. Even then, it took forever for them to bring us new towels after requested. Also on the last night, we were locked out of our room, had to contact off site concierge so they can contact in house staff to the point where we had to respond to the office to still be blamed on how WE locked ourselves out of the room. I do not recommend.

Regarding your booking, we want to explain the working of it. When you book your stay, what you are buying is a type of apartment and upon arrival we will then provide our guest with the accommodation as per the details of the reservation provided by Expedia, however this is unless upon check-in a request is made by our guest for an upgrade which would then be subject to availability and additional charges. Even though in the description doesn’t include cleaning services, the property offer at least 1 cleaning services to customers that have more than a 2 night reservations. Unfortunately when they tried to give it to your apartment they didn’t had any answer to the knock of the door. We apologize for the delay for our team to send you the towels. Our home in Cap Cana
The hotel is great. Specially because it has all the facilities within the room to cook and wash your clothes. We felt at home. The staff are veary nice and the place is beautifull. The only point that needs to be reviewed was that the aprtment had a strong smell of humidity and this caused allergies the first day. After the second day with the A/C and proper ventilation it improved. Additionally the ice machine in the restaurant broke down so there was no place on the roperty to get ice. Other than that it was a great stay.

I didn't like that it was stated that it was close to the beach and the beach was no where near the resort. It stated that there were multiple restaurants and there was only one and it was outside. There were roaches in the room and for the amount we paid, it should have not had roaches. I was very disappointed at the lack of knowledge about places to go around the area and the inability to communicate with the staff because they did not speak English even though they stated that they did. I would not recommend this property to anyone.

The pros (Big rooms for family big space) , but property needs to get some fixings, maninteinance and proper cleankng , we had licking ceiling over one of the bathrooms, there was no phone in the room, the electricity was cut off 3 times and when electricity does not work there is no water either, very unconfortable for a family traveling with 3 kids , in the pool area there was only one waiter for all food and beberage service, the master room was extremely dusty and damp, very dissapointing

Great Experience if looking for Quietness Scape!!!
If you are lookin for a place to rest, read, what TV, or just relax this is a wonderful option. Very spacious, comfortable, and quiet. Close to amenities, infinite pool and beach... They also have the option of many restaurants, in the area, by car or ScapePark for wildness adventures like ride horses, buggy, four wheels, dive into exotics lagoons, zip lines, etc.

The Spa, restaurant , and bar are closed and have been for some time. The advertising for this property is false. There is no phone in the room !! you have to use your cell phone to call the front desk. Finally there were cockroaches in the kitchenette ! I think this should be taken off the expedia list.

A Truly Unfortunate Stay
My recent one night stay was a comedy of errors. At first blush, a lovely resort in a beautiful part of Punta Cana. All that follows actually happened: when I checked in I was informed that the restaurant was not open and I would need to take a taxi to a different hotel for any food (even for a cup of coffee in the morning). And trust me when I say this part of Cap Cana is pretty deserted. Once in my room, the toilet wasn't working,and I went to call for repair but the phone had no connecting cord so I had to walk the hundred yards back to the desk to report it. The repairman told me that he couldn't fix it until the morning (he never came prior to my checking out). I tried in vain to change rooms, apparently none available. To add insult to injury, I had no hot water for a shower in the morning, not even warm. Also no internet in the rooms. Lastly, when leaving my second floor room in a heavy rain, a guest walked out of his first floor room to summon the bellman because he had an inch of water flooding the floors throughout his room. I did inform the very nice concierge, who politely offered only that he hopes my next stay will be better. There won't be one; I have never had a worse hotel experience.

The Hotel is nice, but Cap Cana area has no life, everything is far, the project seems to be dead. This hotel is ok only if you like to play golf, otherwise you should look for other option. The property is new, rooms are nice and big.

Golden Bear Lodge
The Golden Bear Lodge in Cap Cana is a wonderful & comfortable hotel. The location of the hotel is away from the popular & loud hotel zone; Cap Cana is located south of the airport. If you are looking for peace & quite, this is the place to go. Cap Cana is a private area. Golden Bear is not on the beach; golf resort. You will take the hotel shuttle to get to Juanillo Beach (5 minutes) which is beautiful and relaxing. You will need to take a shuttle to get to the marina and the other hotels and restaurants within the complex.

Nice property but not for every one.
The Golden Bear Lodge is a nice hotel for a long or short stay. A little quiet for those looking for night life. The facilities are well kept and the employees are very professional. The only two things that need improvement are the bathrooms. The shower drainage is pretty much clogged. I have seen that in different rooms at the hotel ( have stayed at the GBL three times already), therefore I am positive that all rooms have the same problem. Breakfast is good but they do not keep up with the food. I was told that the kitchen is subcontracted to another company. Besides that the Golden Bear is a nice property.

Pleasant stay at the Golden Bear Lodge in Cap Cana
My wife and I just returned from a very pleasant week long stay in February, 2012, at the Golden Bear Lodge in Cap Cana. Our unit was very spacious, clean, and exceptionally well decorated. Even though our reservation indicated that breakfast was not included, we were informed at check-in that a buffet breakfast was included in the room rate. The staff was eager to please. On several occasions when the shuttle running among various locations at Cap Cana was running slowly, the staff volunteered to take us by golf cart to the golf course and the beach club. Nearby Punta Espada Golf Club is exceptional in every respect. We also used the nearby beautiful Caleton Beach Club where for a small daily fee you can enjoy the picturesque beach with chaise lounges, towels, fruit punch, and a daily skewer with fresh fruit.

Quiet, secluded, can't beat the price.
Hotel is located in master-planned community that has all but stopped development. My hotel stay was in January 2011. Very few guests present. Breakfast was included (surprise!) Infinity edge pool overlooks closed golf course. Ocean view in the distance. Can't walk to beach. Breakfast had cooked to order selections, in very nice setting overlooking pool, golf course with ocean views; breakfast included in price. Dinner was good too, not included in room rate. Beers were cold! Free transport within Cap Cana resort (to beach club, golf, etc.) Very quiet hotel, don't expect crowds. Room was very large, huge balcony with table and chairs. Buildings have 3 floors two to four units per floor. Has elevator. Ground floor units are larger and have mini-plunge pool. Mini-kitchen with fridge in my room (mini-suite, the cheapest room). Bathroom huge, with shower, Jacuzzi tub, separate toilet area. Room had microwave, coffee pot, coffee, tea 1.5 L two bottles of water included, two burner stove, cable TV with US & local stations, FREE wired internet in room and FREE wireless in lobby. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax, or to go to after golf, this is the place. But don't expect to see huge crowds, at least not at this hotel. No disco or dancing. Don't think spa was working. For the price, you can't complain.

Golden Bear Lodge the hidden beauty
At least in early December when we went there almost no tourists are around. The hotel is only 15 min. away from the airport but it is very difficult to find the hotel if you drive yourself like we did. Street signs are often missing. The hotel is never mentioned on an official street sign. You can follow the directions to Punta Espada which will bring you close to the hotel. Half of the week we didn't get a complete breakfast because the restaurant was closed. Later in the week the restaurant opened for breakfast but we had to go elsewhere for lunch or dinner. Traveling between the sites was possible with a free shuttle bus that was available from any hotel or restaurant in the area. The hotel rooms were quite luxurious and in a good condition. The only flaw we found is wood on the balconies that showed some spots of mold. The neighbouring Punta Espada golf course is the most beautiful I have ever been to. Golf lessons there are highly recommended and can be arranged by the hotel.

The room was clean, it was reasonably nice, but the floor of the shower, adjacent and part of the shower area) held water all day, so you would walk through cold water on the way to the actual shower. We called asking for wasp nests (several but indigenous to the area), it took them two days and personal visit to the front desk to get some with a can of spray. They were helpful in coordinating a much reduced greens fee rate for Punta Espada, but the front desk did not even mention this package rate, Rose, our real estate lady told us about it, saving us hundreds of dollars. The building out side is not being well maintained, inside it was clean, the housekeeping staff did a good job, the furniture is adequate. If I were to stay there again, I would locate a unit that was individually owned not part of the corporate program.

Very quiet place to Relax!
Excellent in every aspect! The service, close to the beaches, don't need to rent a car because they have a shuttle that takes you everywhere. When you are there you can use a nice pool. There are three beaches near the hotel: Juanillo, the beach club and the one in the marina. The breakfast in the hotel is great!! Also you can visit the restaurants in the marina. This hotel is perfect!

Someday, Golden Bear Lodge Cap Cana will be a quite expensive place to stay. But for now, take them at their discounted rate! My fiance and I are not golfers so we didn't partake of the course. Our room, however, was immaculate - clean, spacious, and just downright pretty. The outdoor jacuzzi calls to you (even if it's not heated) after a day at the beach. The shuttle to and from the beach is a bit slow but you're on vacation - enjoy it. The service is impeccable across the board. The room was cleaned multiple times a day and everyone from the porters to the front desk reception staff is friendly and accomodating. Cap Cana has no nightlife. There are two restaurants on location, but you almost feel as if you're the only one at the resort. We may have been the only ones in our building. Regardless, it was peaceful and beautiful. If you want your own kitchen and privacy, this is a great choice.

The resort will be wonderful if all the facilities are fully ready. The room we stayed had no hot water. Golf course in front of the facility was not finished yet, therefore, scenery was a little unsightly. Concierge was not there or not knowledgeable. Information as to tours outside of the lodge was not readily available. Shuttle service was on the whole good but there was an occasion when we had to wait for an hour in the rain.

Fantastic hotel, incredible staff, impressive food and the Golf -- just WOW!..pricey, but worth it !
Words cannot describe what a TRULY PLEASANT experience we enjoyed at this resort...(Husband, Wife and 17-month old baby girl). If it is not 5-star it is simply because it doesn't have 24-hour room-service (or something similar). Stayed in the 1-Bedroom suite which is about 100 sq.m (1000-sq.ft). It is a small apartment with an area having a FULL kitchen, Living Room, Dining room, a balcony-terrace, 2nd balcony-terrace with Jacuzzi (no heated water though!) and the bedroom with an IMPRESSIVE bathroom...2 showers, separate toilet and bidet area, two faucets and a hot tub with pressure jets. The apartment was decorated by a professional decorator to the theme/concept of the area. Employee attentions are spectacular and the food is impressively good (you've got to try that Nicklaus Burger). Some international drinks are not included in the all-inclusive but ALL the basics are included, such as: Known brands of vodka and whisky (Stolichnaya, Absolut, White Label, etc), Rum, Beer and many others. ...and the GOLF...well, just dream course by the ocean (Jack Nicklaus design). Internet access was included through the IP phones at no charge...NO WiFi, but fairly fast connection 1Mbps. Warm water works just fine in the kitchen and bathroom...but the outside jacuzzi does not have warm water (funny enough and as pleased as I am, that happens to be a major complaint for ME--the only one!).

This apartment and location were great. The entity that runs the place has not trained the staff to provide service, and when one is expecting normal or excellent service, that is not good. No hot water during our time there. Said would fix it, but did not. Tried to rent golf cart, but not ready when said it would be and not charged sufficiently. Service at restaurant is very willing, but as a waiter said, the kitchen staff does not communicate with them. Room was not ready at check-in time. Staff is friendly, but reluctant to tell guests what is really going on. Very few guests and the resort is very ambitious but far from complete. Dining choices very limited. Without a car, one would be stranded there because dining and shopping choices, the few there are, are miles away. BUT, the place is beautiful, and the apartments, even without hot water are also.
