"Beautiful, Quiet, Squeaky Clean"
The hotel is georgeous, everything is seriously squeaky clean, the beds are so comfortable, the breakfast is super varied & delicious. If you are used to luxury while on vacation, then this place shouldn't disappoint; the staff truly go out of their way to please you.
Be aware that if you book the Junior Suite (lowest priced category), you may get a room that's on the 1st floor (as we did) & an upgrade will only be offered at a price. Our 1st floor room, although beautiful, had a view which consisted mostly of the pool area, not much privacy, & the bay was seen only from the far left corner of our balcony; so we upgraded to the 8th floor at 25US/night & WOW, what a difference, the view was spectacular & total privacy!
The location of the Grand Miramar was perfect for us as we wanted peace & quiet; it's a super quiet, upscale residential neighbourhood, just a 5 minute cab ride away from the Malecon ($65 pesos, but we always increased that to $100 pesos total). Even though the area is super safe, the security at the hotel is top notch; they tightly monitor your comings/goings.
A few extra notes: the kitchenettes are only supplied with drinking glasses & coffee cups, so if you plan on making some light meals, you need to ask for everything else; they don't allow smoking, even on the balconies, but you may smoke at their Gin Joint bar (top floor); the mixed cocktails were sadly very weak & quite expensive at $9-11US/drink.
Overall, such a beautiful place to stay :)
