Great vacation

Amazing entertainment staff which in my opinion are the reason I returned to this hotel. Especial restaurants are almost go however the Mercado buffet is a hit and miss which staff that pick and choose who they serve. if you're traveling with kids their kids club run by Connie will be your best friend and will give you time the relax. The ice break shows and especial shows are a must see as well.

Very nice Hotel

Pros: The food and the pool area. The live flamingos were a delight. Appreciated the mini fridge and the daily water.
Cons: The availability of items in the bath. Body lotion, shower caps etc.
Location: Not to far from the city . Visited Fun City. Visited cable car and the fort. Easy access. Knowledgeable taxi drivers.
Ten of us on the annual family vacation and we couldn't have chosen abetter place to stay. The facility is well kept. Everything is within walking distance. Good variety of food. We all found something to occupy our time. Staff helpful but discrete. Rooms were well appointed. Only small problem was with the consistency of the availability of the items for the bath- hair cap, body lotion etc.

Cons: many things efficiency at front desk food response to requests
Location: close to airport
check in was awful, they did not let me add another person to the room without paying 128 a day, which was much more than the price expedia quoted, despite them advocating on my behalf. 2 hour phone call with no result. room: requests were made for robes, towels, and the clean up of broken glass. none were fulfilled.. had broken glass on our floorr 4 hours after calling about it. food: disappointing no service by the pool or beach

Nice hotel near beach and close to mountains

Service was nice. Taverez was an excellent server at our beach dinner. He made it very memorable. The Japanese restaurant is a must. It was a very entertaining night. The nightly entertainment shows were awesome. The city tour is better if you hire a local. You'll have more time to explore Telefonica and set your own pace. Jonathan from jasmine spa was great in showing us around town.

Almost a 4 Star

Pros: The friendly and helpful staff, the nice beach and pool area, the facilities/grounds, higher quality of food compared to comparably priced resorts.
Cons: Upgrade the mattresses. Simply put, they're awful and prevented me from getting the amount of sleep I had hoped to catch up on during this vacation.
Location: It's right on the edge of Puerto Plata, so you won't be walking anywhere. Absolutely do the waterfall excursion and the city tour. Worth it.
The resort is convenient to the airport and city of Puerto Plata. The check in and check out is quick and efficient. Plenty of friendly staff to answer questions and address concerns (Efrain at the beach bar is the best beach bartender at any resort I've been to). The rooms are OK, furniture is cheap and flimsy (I don't care), our mattress was hard as a piece of plywood and we could feel every spring (Not OK, as I'm going to spend roughly a third of my vacation sleeping), A/C wasn't great (but it's the tropics so it sucks but whatever). The food was very good (restaurants and cafeteria). The resort facilities were very nice, the grounds were beautiful. The pool is just as massive as it looks in the pictures. The beach is nothing special but it had plenty of sand, sun/shade, and chairs/umbrellas. Seaweed was not as bad as some reviews make it sound. The groundskeepers clean the beach every day and in the water it tends to clump in certain areas, so there was plenty of clear water. Free water activities were alot of fun. It may just have been the time of year we went (July) but by about 2PM it was so windy on the beach that you couldn't stay out there because of the blowing sand (a wall of beach chairs turned on their side to block it worked wonders). Overall: 3.5 stars. If the beds were higher quality I would give it 4. I would definitely stay at this resort again.

Three star resort, nothing more

Pros: - Well maintained grounds, a beautiful setting - The food is good, the Japanese restaurant is probably the best - The beach is nice but windy
Cons: - The rooms are dated, they are in need for some TLC - Clean up the pool better and fix the broken tiles - Smokers should have designated areas
Location: Nothing much to visit nearby but the trips are pretty cool. The adventure trip we took was great and that made up our vacation in Puerto Plata.
Not the best experience in DR, this is a 3 star resort and it’s just OK. There are many beautiful places in DR especially in Punta Cana. - The pool was dirty on our first day of stay, full of hair, pretty disgusting – better keep your mouth closed when swimming, lol. - The majority of the staff is not friendly, you don’t really have the feeling that you are welcome. Some waiters are quite careless, they never come back to ask you if you need anything….except only one of them who was always very nice and professional, can’t remember his name unfortunately. - There are many Spanish speaking guests and sometimes they yell at each other so loud, especially when gathering at the pool bar…makes you think that a big tragedy has just happened….with so much noise and screaming all around it makes it impossible to relax by the pool sometimes or even hear each other. - It is impossible to find a lounge chair by the pool after 9 AM on a nice day when there are no clouds. When going to breakfast you can see many towels on the lounge chairs but the pool is almost empty, nobody there…oh well… - The disco outdoors is supposed to finish at 2 AM but we went there once around midnight and it was totally empty, they cut it off early seems like. - I know it’s Caribbean and there are insects (especially mosquitoes ☺, bring your repellent!) but it doesn’t feel good when you see a cockroach crawling on the bathroom walls, especially that they’ve fumigated the room during our stay there.

Nice all inclusive resort, close to the beach.

Pros: The staff seemed to be treated well as they were always in good spirits and happy to help you.They also told me that they were fed at Iberostar.Bravo!
Cons: Allow and encourage group tours. So instead of one couple paying $40 for a visit to Puerto Plata, another couple could joined them and pay $20 each.
Location: Much to do, but our stay was short and we decided to leave the tours for a next time.
With many amenities, we spend most of our time enjoying the swim pool, fitness room, sauna, whirlpool, massages, outdoor games, walks by the beautiful beach, sunbathing and much more. The food was delicious and plentiful. The staff very friendly and always in a good mood.

Excellent Vacation

Perfect stay. Hotel was immaculate. Pool was amazing. Leonardo was an awesome bartender. Benita took wonderful care of our room. And Peps, Superman, and Blackie were so entertaining at the pool. We enjoyed the specialty dining and the shows each night. Vacation couldn't be better!

Relaxing Vacation on the beach

Upon my arrival, I was given the wrong room but that was quickly taken care of once I brought it to their attention. The food and drinks were more than enough. The staff made my family feel welcome. They were very polite and pleasant. Our overall experience was great!!!!!!! I would defiantly recommend this resort and go back for another round.
