Not a 4 star resort

First time staying at an Iberostar property I usually stay at Dreams property or Riu Property for being Puerto plata I would say this is the best Resort in Puerto plata but I will say this is a 3 star resort the beach was dirty not as clean as the water at the other resorts in Puerto plata on the plus side there are no rocks on the beach like the Riu Bachata property in Puerto plata which required you to wear swim shoes . The food is repetive at the Iberostar same pastas pizza and steak rice beans and over cooked chicken the resort has 3 resteraunts but my favorite was the Japanese resteraunt . The staff is great a few dollars will take you a long way Isidro the bartender at the pool bar was excellent very nice and professional guy so was are server Kenedy very knowledgable and excellent service . The club was very nice and the shows where excellent I stayed 6 nights I had a great time

Sampling Puerto Plata

Pros: The flamingos and peacocks were adorable All of the employees were all very friendly with the exception of the bartender at the beachside bar.
Cons: Very little
Location: Close to town and the airport. Gambling next door.
This was our second visit to Puerto Plata in 2 years trying to find the perfect fit.

Excellent resort by the beach

Pros: The all inclusive concept was amazing.
Cons: Some gym machines were out of service
Location: Right next to the beach. The hotel crew will offer several excursions. They are worth it.
The resort is great, well maintained and clean. The staff is very friendly and make all efforts to enjoy your time there. The food is wonderful, a great variety and new things every day. We had a great time there.

Big hotel close to beach

One of the nicer hotels in the area. Good food. Great drinks. Friendly staff. Rooms acceptable. You don't need an umbrella if it rains. All the buildings connect. Would recommend. Have been there several times.

OK not great

Pros: Clean, safe, lovely pool.
Cons: More attentive staff; definitely need more lounge chairs at both the beach and the pool.
The pool and ocean are beautiful but the pool closes at dusk. There are a wholly insufficient number of beach and pool chairs when the hotel is at capacity. Rooms are clean and pleasant although furnishings are IKEA quality - drawers stick, etc. On the upside, they are very quiet. Food is plentiful and fine but nothing to write home about. Staff is not rude but not particularly warm; they all seem hurried. A word to the wise. You really do not want to do the snorkeling trip to "Isla Paraiso." They will take you on a two hour bus ride (they will tell you it's an hour and twenty minutes) to a boat that takes you out to a sand bar (a/k/a the isla) that is barely large enough for the five tour group huts occupying it (in fact at high tide, one of the huts is in the water). They will allow you to snorkel for 1/2 an hour at which time you must give back the snorkeling equipment so that the next group can use it (but don't worry, they rinse it in bucket of soapy water between users), and then require you to wait, standing up (there are no chairs and no place to sit) for an additional TWO HOURS on a tiny beach jammed with hundreds of other people also waiting for their boats to take them back. The snorkeling itself is mediocre.

Pros: location, grounds, pool, activities, food, staff all wonderful. We had a great time and best of all, never had to use my wallet. all was included.
Cons: just two suggestions - better way to inform visitors about activities and make facility totally smoking free even outside
Location: city tour was fun. snorkeling, even by shore was good especially in the morning, cable ride and zipline challenge, rum factory.
11 of us, 6 adults and 5 kids all went, had a great time

Tropical paradise by the ses

This is high quality all inclusive at its best . Just sit back and enjoy. All food and beverages even alcoholic ones are included . There are plenty if palappas by the beach and around the pool. There is a restaurant by the pool and the beach and an elegant dining room in the main body of the resort along with a Brazilian, Japanese and Mexican restaurants, all included. If you don't want to sit and tan or sit and relax there are plenty of water activities also included. The service is second to none, gracious and warm. The waiters and bartenders learn your preferences and remember them even from previous vacations. I love this place and I am a picky person.

Nice pool, Bad rooms!!!

The pool was good, beach was not as seen on the picture. The staff was very helpful and friendly. All day fun animations... The food in the buffet was okay. Restaurants were better. Make sure to make reservations. Kids club was our main disappointment. Not organized, and only one lady tries to do it all. The rooms needs a renovation. The bathrooms were very old and water leaking from the top. AC was very noisy.
