Disappointing
The toilet did not work. They came to fix it but it broke the next time we used it. We asked for them to return, but they never did! The hotel has a laundry room, and in the middle was washing clothes a pipe started spewing water onto the electric appliances. Someone could have been electrocuted. The management just doesn't seem to care about building a return business clientele, and I don't care to ever return to this hotel. I'd rather sleep at the bus station than stay here again.

A nice "no frills" hotel with great location
The other reviews were right---for what I paid, it was a good hotel---very clean, great location, large room. "No frills" is a correct description, but the free breakfast was okay, and I appreciated the safe in the reception area and the ability to leave my bag after I checked out. As far as I could tell, the tap water wasn't purified and they didn't offer bottled water, but no big deal to buy some nearby. Staff seemed indifferent, but helpful when asked. I appreciated being given coffee for the coffeemaker on my second day, but it wasn't there on my first. Might stay there again on my next visit to Puebla.

Comfortable and funky
I love His hotel. It is funky, and old and comfortable. The room was huge, the tap water is filtered, and it is within walking distance of everywhere. The continental breakfast was good, wih plentiful fresh fruit. Mavoid week ends though, the place is packed with tour buses, and a mad house

Stay here one night. Hotel staff was excellent, reception young lady very nice, professional and helpful. Left the next morning and forgot a new North face jacket in the room. Winter in Puebla so it is very cold. Called to return for my jacket and was told the cleaning staff said there'd was no jacket! It was a cheap hotel that cost me an expensive jacket! Do not recommend staying in a hotel where you cannot trust the room cleaning staff. You get what you pay for.

Awesome Location at a great price
Puebla is a beautiful city. The hotel's excellent location made it possible to walk to major sightseeing locations. We were also two blocks away from El Zocalo, where tour companies were available for other tours. We did not spend a lot of time at the hotel, but their restaurant personnel and bell boy provided excellent service.

A basic budget hotel in a great location a few blocks from the Zocolo. A bit worn and needing some upgrades. Beds are really hard. Can't beat the price.

Authentic Mexican Hotel
If you want a hotel that is not an American chain and has a lot of traditional Mexican character, go here! Everything was clean and comfortable, and the staff (while did not speak much if any English) were very friendly. When was the last time you were walked up to your room by a guy who was proud to show off all the amenities the room came with?

Nice hotel for a short stay. It's cute and clean but not quiet as the rooms are located around the courtyard. The comfort is average but we appreciated the food and the kindness of the staff as well as the central location.

good location..
The location of the hotel is very good, about two blocks from main square. The room given to me was quite large, with a separate living room. Drawbacks: service is brusk, bathroom needs to be updated and extremely weak wifi signal from rooms. The beds were not comfortable and they seriously need to buy new towels. The ones given even had holes in them. There is a coffee maker, but I would bring my own cone filters and coffee as the one given makes very weak coffee. No fridge or microwave although there is a nice dining table with chairs.

An older Hotel
Our stay at the Imperial Hotel was mixed. There are many positives. It is cute in an antique Mexican hotel sort of way. The people at the desk were friendly and helpful, but only one spoke English well. Now for the negativesThe breakfast (toast, melon and weak coffee) and the "snack" were well below what we expected. There is a bakery 6 blocks from the hotel...3 Sur and Reforma...and after the first morning we picked up delicious pastries and had breakfast in our room. Our sink failed and the shower curtain was on its last legs. Finally, a group of students were staying at the hotel. They created lots of noise at night and the hotel did nothing to stop this. The location is great and we enjoyed our stay in Puebla immensely.

the location of the hotel is excelent and the price is ok.. no really cheap but i guess is for the location.. the only trouble is that mostly the hotel is ocupated for schools or families with young kids and the hotel has a crazy golf in the second floor that if you are the lucky one to have your room infront of it like it was my case you can forget to go to sleep early... then schools check in like 2 or 3 in the morning and the kids are running without any respect from room to room while you are trying to sleep and the staff just tell you that they have just arrive , so , you have to understand and they cant do anything... so , in summary... they will do nothing and you will have to "enjoy" your night. The kitchen staff is nice and the food is ok...and you have to give tips for EVERYTHING they do for you too.. even when you have already pay for the services, so if you want a better hotel, cheaper and more confy . look ofr annother hotels that you can find just in the corner next to it if you really want a nice and quite hotel. plus the hotel offer you a parking.. but you have to read the "limit" parking and as it is a busy hotel and small garage, once you take your car out for anything you cant forget you will be available to go inside again and then you will have to look for a parking area where you willhave to pay extra too.

The staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. Hot water in the morning. It's a good location in the historical centre only a couple of blocks from the zocalo.

Good budget hotel
I reserved online and when I got there was given a room with no windows, a tiny bathroom with no real door, and one bed too many. The next day, however, I asked for a room with windows, and was given one with both windows and a real bathroom. Rooms were basic without much maintenance but fine. Included breakfast was basic--toast, cereal, milk, yogurt, old fruit. Staff was very helpful. Small lockboxes were available at the desk. The hotel is 2-3 blocks from the zocalo.

A Good Deal in the Thick of it.
Puebla is a beautiful colonial city. Its location makes it a nice two day stop over from the DF to Oaxaca. Nestled in Puebla's Centro Historico, is the Hotel Imperial. While not quite up to "imperial" standards, it is an affordable hotel that is comfortable and close to everything. While not offering all the amenities a Camino Real, it is a clean and basic place to stay that is a short walk from everywhere in el Centro. It does have one outstanding feature in that it offers filtered tap water. In addition, a continental breakfast is provided. If you can forego all the luxuries of the four star places and just need a place to crash, the Imperial is an option.

Basic hotel but good location. The only inconvenient thing is that the bathroom is pretty small and separated by a transparent door in the room, which is not helpful when you are staying with a friend! (The Gym: the three machines available are not working properly and date back from the 90s!)
