Very pleasant hotel. Quiet. Gastro pub linked to the hotel just across the road was great too.
Helpful staff.
Nice big room, clean and well decorated. Comfy bed.
Easy walk to the sea front.
I recommend rebooking parking if you need it.
Would definitely stay again.
The name of the hotel is the Florence Hotel on Malvern Rd, very little signage and what signage there is small and tucked away in doorways. The hotels main name is the Mercer Hotel on Florence St, large signage. The Florence Hotel reception is co-located at the Mercer Hotel reception. I found this very confusing and just plain complicated.
This is a very nice hotel (our second visit) and the rooms are very comfortable and clean! All the staff are very pleasant and helpful. There was a good choice for breakfast, well cooked and nicely presented. The property is close to the seafront and within walking distance to a number of good restaurants.
We had a 1 night stay in a standard double room. For the price we paid it was very good. Room was small but very clean and nicely decorated, no view out the window. Bathroom too small to dry yourself in and the toilet is right up against the door. They do provide a kettle but the cord is short so to reach the socket I had to put the kettle on the floor and the tea cups need to be bigger. Staff were lovely especially the reception supervisor who was very polite and helpful and when I asked for a fan she brought one straight up. Hotel is a collection of lovely
old buildings in a residential road close to the seafront. Reception gave us a permit to park in the road round the back. Breakfast was busy so had to catch the attention of staff to get a menu and order. Food was nice but poached eggs hard. I would stay here again but would pay for a bigger room.
Pleasant but not as advertised! We booked an executive room for 6 nights. The bathroom was diabolical the toilet inches from the wall making it impossible to use comfortably. We politely asked for another room but was told it would cost a further £100 to move .The staff seemed dismissive, so we had to take the option but not happily .The photographs on the hotel site show a large bathroom exactly as you would expect from the term executive . To me executive indicates plush and spacious. Breakfast was ample but for six days they couldn’t get the order right and on the last day it seems we were forgotten and had to alert them we were there , Breakfast took 1 hour . We paid extra for parking yet on two occasions we couldn’t park in the spot allocated, once they moved the culprit the second time we had to park in another bay ( not a big issue ) but again spoilt the overall experience. We love the area and plan to return but won’t book here again . Seems they lack in customer service and should advertise the rooms accordingly .
Had a nice stay - the staff were lovely and loved the new conservatory/restaurant area. There were a few things in the room that could have been improved and the soundproofing wasn’t the best (was woken and kept awake by someone watching a movie into the early hours) but the bed was comfy and the room was clean. Breakfast was delicious but would have liked a continental selection or the ability to have fruit and yogurts etc. location is perfect for southsea.
Stayed here in the executive suite which had everything we needed.
The staff were friendly.
Lovely cooked breakfast, i did think it was continental breakfast as well but just cereal which we had to ask for but other than that everything was perfect. Lovely garden. Very clean.
The seafront is just a short walk with electric scooters parking to ride which were very cheap and great fun.
Lovely property with excellent, helpful staff and very good breakfast options. They are having some renovation work done at the moment but we were forewarned and it didn't affect our stay. We also got free upgrades on our rooms. Highly recommended and will be returning when next in Portsmouth.
Lovely room in a superb hotel. Staff were very pleasant and helpfull. There was a very good choice of breakfast and tasted luvverrllee!
Cant big the place up enough.
I stayed at the Florence House Boutique Hotel last weekend. The one night stay was for my Mum’s Birthday, and it was great! Everything was clean, all staff were friendly & very helpful & the breakfast which was included on our booking was amazing!
The staff even put a Birthday card in the room for my Mum too, which was lovely. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Thank you Rebecca - so pleased you had a great stay with your mum and we hope we can see you both again next time.
The accommodation was spotless and the breakfast was lovely. Place is i a wuiet residential area, about 3 mins walk to seafront and 10 mins walk to main road with the restaurants and bars, so location was excellent. The only minor issye was that the roons are small but uf that doesn't worry you then I woukd definitely recommend this place.

Property very nice and close to the beach. Also well kept and very clean. Friendly staff.
The hours of serving food in the evening ends too early, stops at 19:00 pm!!
Having a hand shower in the bathroom is essential, also they need to provide shower caps.
This is the third stay at the Florence suites and I can highly recommend for location and a fab breakfast!!

Really nice hotel.
Really nice hotel, split into three buildings, but that doesn't detract. The only issue for us was the broken tap and shower head in the bathroom. These weren't showstoppers, and they still worked, but easy to repair and would give a more professional presentation.
