It was a wonderful hotel. So clean, tidy and in fantastic condition. The bathroom was amazing and the bed was very comfy.

I liked that the hotel is very close to the see front which was good since I was there for the Great South Run. I arrived a little early and was able to check in before official check in time. However, my room had a damp musty smell. There was a patch of what looks like an attempt to clean a mold patch from the ceiling on one corner in the room. This damp smell was also present as you headed into the basement breakfast room. The shower kept going warm and cold and on the second morning it was more cool than lukewarm, and that wast just after 8 in the morning. I’ve stayed at Stattons Boutique hotel as well, this was my second experience with the Mercer Collection, and I have to say I’m disappointed by both experiences. I’d think twice before I booked again with them because I don’t think it’s worth the money. They look good but they don’t deliver.
