I would defintely recommend this hotel! I just came back from my holidays with my partner and we both loved it! Food was amazing, so much choice! The staff were amazing too, always super helpful. We felt so welcomed! :) The pool area is very nice, with the bar which meant we could eat & drinks while laying down in the sun! I can't express how happy we were! I can't wait to go back
The staff we met were all really friendly and helpful especially on reception. The pool is great and the view from our room out to sea was wonderful. The public areas of the hotel are clean and tidy. We stayed for a week in a self catering room. The room is probably a little tired though there was a modern tv and comfy sofa. The kitchen area could do with being refitted. The half size dishwasher didn't readily accept the plates provided and most stuff had to be washed by hand to ensure it was clean.
One single bed was fine but the other appeared to have seen better days and the wooden lats keep falling out. The bathroom was probably the worst area. The enamel seemed to be peeling off the bath in several areas and there was black mould along the sealant. Water seemed to have soaked through the wall too as the paint was peeling off the corresponding wall in the bedroom.
Having said all this we still had a really enjoyable holiday. In October the hotel was very quiet so we were often the only ones sun bathing around the pool area.
A lot of the facilities did seem to require additional payment which wasn't fully clear when booking
Wifi is free in reception but requires additional payment for use in the room, as did use of the gym and sauna and the room safe.
We hired a car and although there is no car park we always managed to park just outside of the hotel.
The room rate was reasonable so I would stay again
Lovely hotel with great staff in a picturesque location on the cliffs. A few minor issues and one major one. The minor ones first, the bed was very hard and not very comfortable and the pool was very cold. The major one was that the food in the restaurant was ALWAYS cold, they provide a microwave to heat up your own food but I feel that it should be hot start with. This said, the food was of excellent quality and tasted delicious, shame it was barely warm. The only other point I would make is Porto Colom is very quiet, and only really suitable if you want a quiet, relaxing holiday as there is no hotel entertainment and no nightlife to speak of.
