The Homestead is a well-loved bungalow in the Sellwood/West Moreland neighborhood in SE Portland. Don't be fooled, this is a big house! Our place is only footsteps to Saburo's Sushi House Restaurant, Moreland Theatre, 13 Virtues Brewing, Westmoreland Nature Park, and Cork Screw Wine Bar. It's good for couples, business travelers, and families (with kids). Public transportation is very close, too! If you've stayed before, the basement remodel is ready for guests! This is a well-loved bungalow with old-time charm coupled with tasteful modern touches in over 1000 subterranean cozy square feet. Watch your step as you go down the stairs to the main space opposite the shared laundry room (full-sized & front-loading). From the main entrance, you'll be greeted with space for the Aerobed air mattress if needed before reaching the kitchen and living spaces. The counter is a perfect spot to sip your tea/coffee while you sneak in a few work emails. There are two bedrooms, each with queen-sized beds and extra linens, along with oversized egress windows that let in a lot of natural light. All the windows open to catch the breeze. A pack & play type bed and 2 toddler cots are available for the littles. The air mattress and pack & play are free with notification. The main part of the house is restricted to guests as that living space is for our onsite manager. Guests are welcome to all areas of the basement and backyard. Our onsite manager lives in the main part of the house with her family. The laundry facilities are shared. The backyard is completely fenced in with a deck, lovely for enjoying your meal on a warm day. Be careful of the sprinklers in warmer months! We try to do our part to keep Portland green and beautiful by only using biodegradable detergents/cleaners and earth-friendly shampoo, conditioner & soaps. Tap water is also delicious; a water filter is available in the fridge for your convenience. We also ask our guests to compost their food waste and recycle their glass, plastics and paper products. The garbage is only picked up citywide every two weeks, while recycling and compost are picked up every Tuesday. Thanks for helping us reduce our carbon footprint! Parking is available on the driveway along the north side of the house, which can park up to 3 cars comfortably in tandem. Street parking is free all hours. Natasha (onsite manager), my husband, or I can assist with anything! The Neighborhood and Other things to note: The Homestead has a high walkability score with the commercial district of West Moreland a few footsteps away. You'll find cafes, restaurants, the post office, shops, the local theater, Zoom Care, banks and QFC within a ten minute's walk. It's also very easy to hop on public transportation with 2 very close bus lines and the MAX light rail line only 5 blocks east. Biking is a favorite way to travel, as well as cars for hire. Guest accommodation at this apartment offers DVD players and coffee/tea makers. Rooms open to patios. Kitchens offer fridges, hobs, microwaves and separate dining areas. Bathrooms include a combined bath/shower unit and hairdryers. Cots/infant beds are also available.
