The pictures don’t do justice to what this hotel look like in person. The hotel is clean, the service staff are all pleasant and the only thing I didn’t like was the homeless situation in some corners around the area. You will see pockets that are shady, but overall it was a a great experience. The hotel is in the middle of a lot of great restaurants. I walked alone at night to get to dine and was always guarded although I saw a quite a few walking out at night before and after.

We have stayed at this facility for many years on and off. We always get the two room suite which is 550 ft.² The place is a little old and some outdated, but nice and funky in its own way. They offer a grab and go breakfast in the old restaurant area which has pastries, fruit, yogurt, and coffee/tea. You will notice there is a $25 per day resort fee added, so it is not free. You also get a couple of bottles of water in your room.. They have not had an attached Restaurant to the hotel since Sonesta took it over from Kimpton. Parking is very expensive, but we typically can find a place on the street in front of the hotel. if you’re going to do that get the Portland parking app called ParkingKitty. The unhoused people seem to be less frequent which is good. Make sure your credit card has enough money to cover the room charge plus a refundable hundred dollars a day extra charge that they book when you check in. You can get daily housekeeping if you request, but some days it is spotty.

We liked the ascetic of the hotel, very cool decor. The room was spacious and comfortable. Staff were all very friendly. The cons were the hotel borders on a rough area of town, the parking was overpriced and they didn't clean the room the 2nd day.

This is a lovely property and I like the eclectic vibe. Our room was huge and really nice. There are a lot of extra fees which add up, the vip parking discount is only on one night which isn’t what I understood… that may be on me but parking cost is crazy and the ‘resort fee’ is a money grab. I also note that we did not receive housekeeping service for our entire stay.

A total mess. We had a room with a clogged tub and black mold coming out of the drain. Moved to another room that had not been cleaned as there were smudges all over the lower half of the mirrors from a child. Spent 2 hours in limbo moving from one room to the next room. Finally received a clean room which was a “comped upgrade” (it was the exact same as the one booked) but what was most outrageous is that we were given a room that management opened with us at the door and it was already occupied. Management completely violated their privacy by barging in on those guests and made us feel super uncomfortable. She did not apologize to them or us about that incident. It was a total mess.

We have stayed there before, and have always loved it. The location is perfect for walking. Portland is Portland so take that into account when walking, but the area is safe and way less homelessness downtown than our last trip.

The Royal Sonesta was a very stylish boutique like hotel. Loved the vibe and look of the place. Everyone was nice and helpful. Great downtown location. Valet parking was a great addition but it was a bit expensive at 52$ a night added to total expenses. Loved my stay and highly recommend.

This place was horribly run down and date. The pictures are a real bait and switch. Mold in bathroom, damage to doors, fixtures, carpet. The smell was what sent us over the edge tho, it smelled like burnt sewage or trash in the halls and room. I didn’t stay, I had to leave and my coworker stayed to tough it out. Really disappointing. Valet parking was $52/night. And reprt fee was $25/night. Problem paying with a business debit card. Will not ever be staying here again.

Incredibly wierd and creepy hotel, the rooms have weird peep holes and large blood stains that have furniture or some decoration trying to cover it, accidentally opened a maintenance staff door thought it was the ice room, And saw a man looking through a hole in the wall. The man started yelling at me at the top of his lungs. Very wierd things are going on at this hotel, u can feel the intense energy as soon as you walk in

We have been staying at this hotel for over 10 years on and off. The Suites are a good size in a sitting area can be separated from the bedroom with sliding doors. The restaurant attached to the just hotel is under renovation, so there was no local food. For some nice dinner eating it is suggested to go over to the Pearl District. There is a $25 per day extra fee for supposedly the use of the gym and some other things and two bottles of water when you first get there, plus some coffee and muffins in the morning. The room service for fresh towels and making the bed was not the best. For parking at the hotel is $52. If you are driving, there is usually parking across the street or just down the street that you can use.

We came here to have one night of warmth after losing power at our house and sleeping in the cold house (30F) for 3 nights. The hotel was SUPER cold and our room was 54F so we spent $193 to barely sleep again because we were cold YET AGAIN and regret coming. We would have been better off sleeping in our cold house and saving money or going to a different hotel. They offered no solutions or compensation. NOT HAPPY.

Hotel room was cool, included breakfast was pretty average supply of some baked goods and would have appreciated coffee served later as there were no facilities in the room. The hotels immediate area has gotten a bit run down but it still felt safe enough and it is pretty locked down at night. Wasn’t the friendliest of check ins but overall the room was comfortable and very nicely decorated and location was good.

The property itself was lovely, but having to pay an additional $52 for parking and a bit extreme. Even with $20 off it's still a lot. I guess I'm just used to Vegas where parking is free if you're staying at the hotel...

Fantastic Staff, fantastic service, beautiful hotel. Special shout out for Kathryn, who took such Good Care of us and our car. She Made us look forward to every encounter with her because she is such a delightful, kind and nice person.

I loved the decor. The lobby and room were beautiful and the staff was very nice. I didn't realize you need to ask for maid service for the room, so that was surprising.

Lovely rooms, very clean and comfortable bed. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Surrounding area let down by high volume of homeless people in the streets.
