It is accessible by an intricate stone staircase carved into the cliffs.Visit beautiful monuments, such as the Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição where you can admire its impressive baroque architecture, featuring a beautiful Manueline doorway from the 16th Century.
Events held on the beach, such as the annual New Year festivities or the international beach soccer tournament, ’Mundialito’, have increased the number of visitors to this city, with plenty of hotel accommodation and restaurants to explore.

There is a bus service from the capital of Algarve, Faro to Portimão, but most visitors prefer to rent a car to explore the Algarve and explore at their own pace.
