"Great hotel for the location"
I was traveling for business so I could not take advantage of what the hotel offer; however, for someone or a family on vacation it is a perfect place due to location - train station is just down the street which allow you to go anywhere without the need to get a rental car or taxi; for the people who love to shop the Vasco da Gama Mall is just across the street from train station; in addition in the Mall there is plenty of restaurants from different ethnic groups. For the gamblers is also a perfect spot because there is a casino right behind the hotel etc. There is plenty of things you can do just around the hotel.

    Pocket Guide: Lisbon Portela Hotels

Lisbon Portela Airport is located in the city of Lisbon, just a 15 minute to drive from the centre. It takes its name from the neighbouring parish, Portela. There’s a great selection of hotels near Portela Airport to suit all budgets and tastes.

Lisbon is the capital of Portugal and offers centuries of history and easy access to a diverse set of notable neighbouring cities such as Mafra, Ericeira, Sintra, Cascais and Oeiras.

Lisbon or ‘Lisboa’ is the city of seven hills. The western part of the city is blessed with the luscious greenery of Monsanto Forest Park, the aptly named ‘the lungs of Lisbon’.

    Things to Do

Admire the magnificent views from Lisbon's castle, Castelo de São Jorge, which stands on top of the city's highest hill and provides beautiful views of the city and river. Another stunning viewpoint is at Graça in the Jewish quarter of Alfama, Lisbon's old medieval district with its traditional white houses, little alleys and cobblestone streets.

Enjoy traditional Fado music in a restaurant at the Moorish quarter or Mouraria.

Explore the bohemian lifestyle in Bairro Alto, where you’ll find a lively atmosphere during the evening, with a variety of restaurants and night time revellers drinking in the streets in front of tiny bars, especially in Rua da Atalaia. The neighbourhood of Príncipe Real is home to antique shops, cool restaurants, serene green outdoor spaces and colourful houses.

Enjoy a cup of coffee and the famous custard tarts pastéis de nata in Chiado. You’ll find plenty of theatres, charming old bookshops and breathtaking vantage points, especially from the top floors of the boutique hotels, around here.

Wander through downtown Baixa, an 18th century district, built after the devastating 1755 earthquake. This area has very precise geometric architecture and the streets are named after different mercantile trades, like silver and gold. Some of the most stunning features of this area are the monumental Rossio Square with its stylish cafés, and the waterfront Praça do Comércio with its triumphal arch.

Other neighbourhoods also include Campo de Ourique, known for its market; Avenidas Novas, home to one of the best museums in Lisbon, the Gulbekian; Avenida da Liberdade, with its luxury shops and hotels; and Cais do Sodré, home to the city's main food market, Mercado da Ribeira.

Visit Belém, which is home to World Heritage architecture such as the Tower of Belem and Jerónimos Monastery, as well as museums like the dreamy Coaches Museum and the modern art museum, Berardo.

Parque das Nações is home to some fantastic, almost futuristic examples of architecture. The Orient railway station is an eye-catching building and one of Lisbon’s main transportation hubs. Here you’ll also see one of the world's longest bridges, the stunning Vasco da Gama Bridge. For families travelling with children, Lisbon has a splendid Zoo and one of the best oceanariums in the world, Oceanário de Lisboa.

Find cheap hotels near Portela Airport and be sure to enjoy the beautiful city of Lisbon, while creating memorable experiences from your holiday in Portugal.
