In it's prior life a 'pole barn', this property has now been restyled into seventeen hundred square feet of self-contained comfort. Just a short walk to the community beach access where the Mouth of the Elwha River and Strait of Juan de Fuca converge, with acres of sandy beach. Most days it seems like your own private beach, with only a few surfers or beachcombers. When you arrive at your destination the refreshing sea air tells you immediately that this is a very special home-away-from-home and the scented evergreens whisper their welcome, and the waves provide a relaxing, natural "soundtrack",. While oriented to the woods and fully fenced for maximum privacy, guests are lulled to sleep by the sound of the surf. Rainy days on Freshwater Bay are a delight because as the rain patterns on the tin roof, you are cozy with a cheery fire, books to read or board games to play. We are located less than 1/4 mile walk from the public beach access where the mouth of the Elwha River meets the bay.. In addition to the many known attractions ofClallam county, we have guests who "bird" at the mouth of the river. We have hosted guests interested in the Elwha Dam Removal Project, authors who crave a quiet place to think and write, as well as the film crew who documented the history of the river and salmon habitat in a documentary called "The Breach". A lot of guests feels we are centrally located to all the natural wonders here on the Olympic Peninsula. Snuggle by the fireplace before slipping into the silky comfort of the European linens on your Cal-King canopied bed. The second bedroom contains an Eastern King (wider than longer), Enjoy cooking in a well-equipped galley style kitchen. .Lyndee refuses to cook on vacation-or ever anymore- but guests who enjoy cooking have said we have the best equipped kitchen of any vacation rental they have visited. Or enjoy the unique flavors of the Pacific Northwest at one of the many excellent restaurants in town. (We are eight miles west of downtown Port Angeles, the park entrance for Hurricane Ridge or Victoria ferries). Take a dip in your double fenced private hot tub, count all the stars you can't see living in town and revel in the sounds and smells of our woods and sea. We frequently get guests who tell us "'last night was the best I've slept in ages.'' While often used by lovers who want to get away from it all, (and frequent honeymooners), the house has been enthusiastically received by families wanting a unique location to use as their home base while they explore the wonders of the Olympic Peninsula or day-trip to Victoria, British Columbia. To enter Canada an enhanced drivers license or passports are required for each traveler. We took two grandchildren to Canada and at that time they accepted birth certificates as ID. Check with the Coho and Victoria Clipper, if parents divorced, a notarized letter from the non-custodial parent granting permission for the day trip. Originally with only a master bedroom with large Cal-King bed, we have added a second bedroom with a plush Eastern King bed, both covered with imported Italian linens. Some guests could care less about TV but we do have a Smart TV( Directv Prime, Netflix, Hulu, Discovery Plus, AMC, Showtime, HBO Max) and hundreds of DVDs. We have Prime streaming and a huge selection of channels. Kid-friendly amenities include board games, glider, a fire pit for weenie and marshmallow roasts (we provide s'more supplies) plus, it's a 5-10 minute walk or one minute drive to the beach and the Elwha Delta. The owners of the Love Nest live next door and are delighted to help their guests plan their excursions, recommend wonderful places to dine or even arrange for a masseuse to attend you after a full day of activities. Very quiet, well-furnished with interesting decor and book selection. Everything worked well, felt very private and a bit exotic. Only recommendation would be flipping or rotating mattresses. Both beds had noticeable depressions on both sides in normal sleeping positions. Overall a very nice visit and accommodations. Everything you might need, comfy beds and nice bathrooms! Hot tub was so relaxing and the yard was just as interesting as the home inside. The sound of the waves crashing against the beach is a great way to relax. The only bummer is that the hottub had an electrical issues but stuff happens and the jetted bath tub was nice. Amazing hosts and the perfect place for our getaway to Olympic National Park. You won’t find a better place to stay for the price! They provided everything we needed and more. Located in a quiet neighborhood just minutes away from the park. Allen gave us a tour of the property and suggested great restaurants and things to do in the park itself. The decor alone is entertaining! Clean & comfortable home with quite literally everything you might need. Very thoughtfully stocked. We very much enjoyed the hot tub and yard with the fire pit. Allen & Lyndee are very kind and it’s nice knowing they are next door in case anything is needed. Yet you will not feel your privacy is invaded at all. How about an insightful and funny personalized tour of the place you are staying? That is exactly what Allen will provide when you arrive. Allen and Lyndee's place was nothing short of great....tons of space, a hot tub, a jacuzzi, a gas grill, a well stocked kitchen, a fire pit with all the wood you need and free smores!This is just a fun place to stay that is close to Port Angeles and offers plenty of options - head to Port Angeles, or nearby Salt Creek, or go a little further West to Lake Crescent, etc. We will be back! ##### D K. Everything we needed to relax and chill out. Well stocked kitchen, plenty of games, movies and books, a fully fenced yard for the dogs - no need to leave the house except to enjoy a walk along the beach.
