some of the hotel staff are disinterested and rude

Posted 10-Jul-2017
Cons: staff behaviour
Location: smelly mud.
Some of the staff were pleasant. Others were not just uninterested, they were positively rude. The maitre d' at breakfast on Saturday shouted at me when I came through 'the wrong door'. That was the first thing he did. He then shouted 'Room number?' like that, no 'may I' or anything. No 'good morning', just hostility. On the other hand the lady doing the same job on Sunday was very civilised. But of course the bad drives out the good. Which of the two would you remember? My strong impression is that the corporate culture pays little attention to customer service simply because this hotel has no competition. It doesn't need to be even civilised to customers because it gets them anyway.

Faultless setting for a summer wedding

Posted 03-Jul-2017
Pros: The location
Cons: Attention to detail in customer care. Staff were polite, but not always as hospitable as they could have been.
Location: Close to the new forest, corfe castle and swanage, or shopping in Bournemouth. The hotel is set on a fantastic sandy beach, so No need to travel at al
We were guests at a wedding, which was amazing. Beautiful venue, excellent attentive staff throughout the day. The service in the restaurant was mixed, depending who was in charge. Breakfasts were of good quality with lots of choice. The room was a little dated, but spotlessly clean and comfortable. Pool clean and beautifully warm - like getting into a bath!

Warm welcome at reception Sea view room was fantastic, nice to Wake with the sound of waves on the beach, some of the furnishings starting to get a little tired. Would stay again just for the location

Hotel is in a great location. Looking a bit tired and dated now. Check was a disaster as went to room which was given to me to find it already occupied by another guest... !! So had to go back down to reception and get a new room...

Grand aged relic of the past. Poor food options

Posted 02-May-2017
The hotel is nice enough if very dated with amazing views. Unfortunately it is not a four star hotel in the same way as other four star hotels i have stayed at. Our room was not cleaned when we got back in the afternoon and when i called down they said someone was due to do it. They turned up in the next 5 minutes as if the room had been forgotton. They did not change the sheets or properly clean the room except to do up the bed and replace the towels. The food was the worst thing. Ordering a burger the middle was raw but it tasted ok so I ate it. I heard another lady complain that the burger for her son was frozen. For dinner we had a two course meal. The food was ok enough but the portions were miniscule. The first course was brought out within 2 minutes of ordering. We were out again in 30 minutes. Breakfast finished at 9:55am rather than 10:am with the manager going around and taking the old unused butter packets from tables and putting them back for future guests use and cleaning all the table. . At 9:55 they took away most of the breakfast food. It seems petty and i understand they wanted to get a head start on the cleaning but at a four star restaraunt breakfast to 10am should be just that. Also the only other food item we had was a cream tea in the bar that took ages to come. Also witnessed the staff arguing amongst themselves. In summary, ok building, amazing views but the place needs a rethink on how it is being run. feels like a above par premier inn.

great location with a sea view

Posted 01-May-2017
This hotel is great for overlooking the sea. However, it's overpriced because it's on Sandbanks. The room was ok the bathroom was very dated and it took 4 or 5 attempts to get the toilet to flush. The bed was so uncomfortable we've come home more tired than we went, it was 2 singles bolted together which I don't expect for £220 per night. Breakfast was lovely in the seaview restaurant. Overall disappointing for the price, next time I would just stay in a Premier Inn, you might not have the view but you would have a good nights sleep!

Scary receptionist

Posted 28-Apr-2017 on Hotels
On arrival the receptionist was the most obnoxious person I have ever met. She was no help at all with questions I asked. First impressions was to leave, but it was 11pm at night. after the initial dealings with the nice lady ! The overall stay was good. Breakfast was excellent, with beautiful views. Please send the young lady on a be nice to people course, sure she will learn a lot. Even better give her another job.
