    A hidden gem!

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, somewhere comfortable for me to get my head down during my travels to the South West. I couldn't have been more wrong! The hotel room was lovely - Very clean, very spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was lovely, shower was big and powerful good temperature. The room was very quiet and the TV had a good selection of channels to pick from. I had an evening meal in the pub - friendly service, reasonable prices, good selection of drinks and the food was really tasty! I slept like a log - the bed was really comfortable. If I had to say anything bad, it would be that the bed was two singles pushed together which made it difficult to stretch out but it's a minor blip considering I was on my own. Covers and sheets were comfortable and crisp and very welcoming. The inclusive breakfast was brilliant - I opted for the full english and it was really good and there was lots of it. I honestly couldn't fault my stay. Unfortunately, I'm hardly ever down in this part of the country but if I was, I'd be a regular. Everyone looking for a hotel in this area, look no further - this is a bargain and a lovely place. well done!

    Overnight business stay

A great find for this area. Checked in mid afternoon and sat in the bar area for a meeting. WiFi worked in bedroom and bar. Bedroom was spotless, well decorated and comfortable. Overnight guests have dedicated parking spaces. Once I'd completed my work, I went into restaurant for food. Hunters chicken was delicious and sat in the bar area for a quiet pint where there was a good choice of drinks such as doombar, some pilsner and ales a d cider. They do 1/3 pint tasters but I stuck with the offshore pilsner which was a great pint. A few locals were sat at the bar and were friendly and the conversation flowed between them and the landlady, and I was included in this. As a sole business traveller, this was welcome and much more personal than a large chain hotel stay. If this isn't your thing, it is still a quiet bar and wouldn't disturb guests in rooms. There is outdoor access under a covered stairwell to the rooms, but this is safe and well lit. I would stay again, either on business or with my wife as we often travel in this area. I have already recommended this to a colleague who is in the area soon and I look forward to returning for the welcome, the food and the bar.
