Thin walls between rooms. Didn’t sleep well with noise from surrounding rooms. My room was not cleaned during my stay. I left all my towels hanging to help decrease water usage as the signs in the room said, but my towels were changed every day

History gone

Posted 05-Nov-2018 on Hotels
This hotel is being torn down and replaced with a new 3 story Hilton. Originally a 50's era motel near the water.

It is right across the street from Fisherman's Landing and thus very convenient. Unfortunately it is CLOSED as of November 1, 2018.

Location was great, close to restaurants and bars t night and the airport. The rooms were noisy, with ‘paper thin’ walls. I could hear people in rooms both sides and above us. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The Dolphin is closing tomorrow...forever

Posted 30-Oct-2018 on Hotels
We were told that the hotel is closing on October 31st and will be torn down. Consequently, this review is pretty pointless. The room was clean and well maintained, but the hotel is very old. Our room was tiny, but clean and well taken care of.

It was good while it lasted...

Posted 30-Oct-2018 on Hotels
Stayed overnight on a day trip in San Diego. The condition of the hotel, the room, the bed, and the bathroom are pretty dated. The hotel staff does a good job making sure everything is clean and spot free. The front desk staff was very pleasant to talk with. The hotel itself is located in a very good location with many restaurants and the boat pier within walking distance. Breakfast is basically milk, juice, cereal, and muffins all from Costco. In comparison to many other motels of it's type, this is probably in the higher tiers. Will return except.... As we were checking in, we over heard the front staff person telling another guest that the hotel will be closed down by Nov 1st, 2018 and that he was getting fired. The hotel, as well as the whole block, got bought by .. i think Hilton.. and they are supposedly building over the lot. It's a shame to lose them but with time comes new innovation. I do not believe in things being stuck in the past just for sentimental reasons.. well historical monuments and national parks aside that is. All in all, it was nice staying there and enjoying that older side of town before it gets torn down.
